Jesse Hogan Injury Update?

Damn 500k a year for a bloke who has never kicked a ball in a season proper yet. I'm all in on hogan but this would just add more pressure on him. He is already described as a boom forward even though he is still a draftee who hasn't played yet. Good luck to him I hope he gets what he wants and we get the same.

He should get 350k base and incentives and keep them simple ie, games played, maybe team things as well.

If you can lock him in for 4 years at $4-500K do it. I know people are saying we haven't seen him play AFL but lets be honest we saw his VFL form and his NAB 2013 & 14. There is a lot more than speculation about his ability we have seen what he can do.

Freo will offer that or thereabouts

Have you heard or have inside source that Hogan could make a move back home?

I have no direct contact with Jesse but regular contact with ex teammates, school friends and other people close to the family. Very strong word pre the changeover with CEO, footy department etc that his family were not happy and with us being viewed as a basket and uncertainty surrounding the club. The view was he would not re-sign a new contract till he saw how the club was going and if there was to be changes for the better.

I have been told after last year games with Casey Freo had put the feelers out but Hogan was in now way responsive to their approaches. As a closing carrot dangler or food for thought Freo allegedly mentioned they would be prepared at that early stage to be guaranteeing a figure around the $400k per season mark. My mail is since Jackson, Roos the older players and all the other changes Jesse's parents are happy with the way the club is headed and how Jesse has been looked after.

I've also heard unconfirmed his parents have moved from Perth, possibly down to the south west of the state, so what does that say about any go home factor. So my take on it is all the rumour an innuendo is just the local clubs (not heard anything about Meth Coast other than media) doing their due diligence with WA born players who's contracts are up for renewal. The fact he has not signed at this stage just fuels the media but truth be known the club and Jesse have concentrated on getting him right. I think we have turned everything in our favour where to the point everything I hear now is positive towards Melbourne and how much he is enjoying it there. By all accounts very close to Viney, Toumpas, Dawes and Mitch.

I'm like the rest in that I don't know what he will do and think getting out on the track is his major focus

Why do I have a sick sick feeling this could be Tom Scully all over again.....

It's probably just part of your psyche/personality. I'm not worried at all.

(And wasn't last time either, if that means anything)

Cheers for the amazing insight

I know he lives with Dean Kent who signed a new deal so hopefully he jumps on board.

Not just that Hogan is worth it, but the salary cap is due to jump significantly on 2015.

Another $500k in the cap, I believe.

When you're not even paying the full cap, you can easily accommodate such a salary for a player like Hogan.

If Jesse wants to stay, he stays.

But, if he's making noises about leaving... And Nat Fyfe is open to a trade... Do we pull the trigger? I'm inclined to say no, but gee I'd think about it...

isnt there some good forwards in this years draft?

trade Hogan for Fyfe and draft a new key forward with our first rounder?

There is one I reckon who might and only might come close to Hogan, and he will go at 1. We won't have that pick. My opinion is that Hogan is the pick of the bunch of young forwards including Cameron and we need to keep him.

Yuk

dd Scully was one of a kind.

A scum bag of the lowest order.

I don't think there is another Melbourne player on the list that is like him , thankfully.

I can see where Machsy is coming from.

AFL player are reminded and warned constantly NOT to browse supporter forums because of the rubbish that gets written about players. This is a fact. The AFL are trying to drum this into club and then into the players.

So for Saty to say there are 30 pages of demonland nervousness about Hogan, he would know log on this website and see all the pressure thats written about him. Sure most of it is pretty positive

But for someone like Jimmy Toumpas who knows about Demonland because Saty mentioned it to him. He would log on only to see most of you people bagging and saying what a dud player for pick 4, should have taken Wines, Picket Fence getting stuck into him etc.. He sees half of this and his confidence is already hit and it plays on his mind that supporters think he is soft. It has a psychological effect on him and most time its why most young players struggle of the metality side of the game.

Now Saty might say that the players would not read this but when he mentions Demonland to players they will take notice and have a look. They will even say they dont read but they do. Players do really wanna know what supporters think of them. Its something very hard to resist as a player.

Completely wrong, I have actually asked most of the players, they are 'advised' to stay away from the fan forums, three quarters of them don't even read the sports pages in the newspapers.

Most of the players know the supporters opinion of their playing ability, they hear it over the fence, and they get judged all the time in the media

They are not stupid, they know if they are playing badly they won't be flavour of the month with the supporters

I explained to Jimmy Toumpas why I was asking questions and he answered and told me I was free to quote him, he knows as a top five pick he should be 'tearing it up', but strangely he listens to the coaching staff more than the supporters

The only reason the trolls have stopped hitting the players Twitter accounts is because Nathan Jones has told them to retweet to their followers if they get garbage and let the followers bombard the troll, works a treat

Jesse Hogan was signing stuff before the QB game and knows the majority of the supporters want what he wants, to get on the park, coz most of them told him that, I spoke to him afterwards and he had enjoyed the comments

Yet none are as good as Hogan, or even Daniher.

How about we keep Hogan and STILL have our first rounder?!

Yep, genius idea.

How sensitive do you think AFL players are?

And just an assumption, but I'm sure Jimmy Toumpas was well aware of sites like 'Demonland' and 'Big Footy' well before Saty mentioned it to him.

Anyone who watched this 17yo simply dominate last year at Casey would realise that Hogan is far more than just a talent. He is the first player I have seen on our list the oozes superstar since the Ox. Unfortunately 3 knee reconstructions curtailed the Ox, if it was not for this he would be spoken in the same breath as Carey, Judd, Mathews, Barrassi today. I am more than happy to pay what ever it takes to keep Hogan at the Dees. $500k per year would be a minimum I would think. Mark my words, if Hogan has a good run with injury's through his career he will end up being something between Carey and Lockett........ he is that good.

A good measure might be how you react yourself when you get people rubbishing you over comments you make when posting on these forums. Does it have an adverse affect on you or do you just keep going about your business as usual and maintain your same posting style? Does it affect your daily life, your ability to work etc? Saty cops a hell of a lot of rubbishing on here, but he continues to post without changing.

Most players would not be new to the internet and forums (many have probably been involved on footy forums themselves in the past)... they would know the score and they would understand that most of the nasty posting would be from anonymous keyboard heroes who have probably never kicked a ball in anger themselves. If they can survive the "in your face" critics on the other side of the fence when they are playing, then I hardly think a few comments by some here would have any affect.

How about we don't trade Hogan and make a play for Fyfe ? ( remembering that Roos likes to keep a happy camp by not paying gazillions to secure a Buddy)

How about we back the club to do its best to keep the players it wants to keep. The philosophy of "he might leave so lets trade him now" infuriates me.

I'd be all for that... otherwise, I wouldn't mind seeing us make a play for Patton whenever he is available (he's contracted until?)... perfect replacement for Mitch in that he has a strong pair of hands, excellent shot on goal and a handy second ruck option.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
