Hands are tied regarding who can come in, so there will not be too many changes. Grimes, Fitzy, Watts deserve a spell for various reasons. They won't be dropped yet but if the footy they are playing continues, I reckon Roos will drop them. As soon as there are some big forward options and we don't need so many mid-sized players, these 3 will be under a very big microscope.

So far, Roos has stayed true to his word, and I reckon he will continue.

OUT: Fitz, Byrnes, Bail, Terlich (slim chance),

IN: Clisby, Jetta, McKenzie, Blease (slim chance)

Is there currently room to move with Jetta coming off the rookie list? I thought Clark was now our only LTI lister and Georgiou has that spot.

according to footy classified who put out a tweet tonight they have great news on the melbourne injury front. It better be good.

I'm a bit flat like the players these days - I'm predicting no and now Nat Jones is out for the season

I believe Fitzy went a lot closer to quarter time in round 1 and then in round 2 he didn't last too long in to the third quarter. In fairness to him he played 1 overall game in the first 2 weeks. Then last week it was pouring with rain. The GWS version of him (Giles) had plenty more hit outs but had all of 8 touches and no scores despite playing on Pedersen.

I don't expect much from him but it's almost to the stage with replacements that he may as well stay in. He takes the second ruck job and therefore gives Spencer a chop out and a tall defender stands him letting the other forwards - Frawley and Dunn possibly getting smaller defenders.

I would be tempted to bring in another small (there are no other talls) but if we bring in guys like Clisby, McKenzle and Blease who else do you bring in? Nicholson? A reprieve to either Toumpas, Trengove or Michie before they've earned it?

I'd monitor him at training and if he's training hard and looking more competent in basic skills then I'd probably give him another shot. He does have some talent and it would be nice to get his season on track now rather than having him back in the VFL and no second ruck/forward option.

With Pedersen down back the question would be what to do with the second ruck spot anyway if it's not Fitzpatrick. Personally I'd go back to a Neil Craig tactic and try Watts in the ruck for 5 minutes a quarter

As crazy as it seems not totally out of the picture to come in and do nothing other than run with a small forward in Garlett or even do a negating job on a Murphy or Carazzo

IN: JKH, Clisby, Blease, McKenzie, Trengove (time to blood) Salem...mebbe Toumpas off half back.

Interestingly Roos reckons both Bail & Terlich have improved in an article about a mid season review. Bit of a worry in as much as he needs half a season 2 c who's up 2 the standard. I agree with your omisssions except I'd give Watts & Grimes another chance.

Glad to get a game but I'm out of position. I built my reputation as a champion half forward flanker.

In : Aggression. Controlled aggression. And plenty of it.

Carlton will be promising to erase their embarrassing performance of last week. They will be expecting us to lay down & get steamrollled while Carlton put on a show for their disgruntled fans

We should get on the front foot. Ambush the pricks. Starting in the middle. Spencil should get that knee up & go straight through Warnock. And again at the next clearance. And again and again & again. If he needs inspiration he needs look further than the job his current ruck coach did on Darren Jolly when Jolly was a Demon. Never seen a bloke [censored] himself like that at AFL level.

We should treat this like a final. Our blokes should be kamikaze at the ball in that first 15 minutes. Carlton will send in that psycho Robinson to make a statement. He needs to be put over the fence. Our blokes need to seek body contact at every opportunity when they smash in after the ball. Stand up & absorb their tackles. Never lose our feet. When they have the ball, hit hard & tackle like madmen. We should look to intimidate because Carlton will come out thinking that they can intimidate us. As will the rest of the football world. We need to send them home bruised & battered. We may not win but we as Demon fans should be able to acknowledge the effort.

Out : Anyone who won't commit to this. Anyone who doesn't think they can look their team mates in the eye & say I did everything I could to hurt the opposition & win the game

My only problem is that we may nit have enough numbers

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
