I didn't bother checking the score - thought it would be so one sided so I watched the GP instead. Wow.

I don't know if they won that on emotion from the buddy issue giving them a bit extra, or Sydney being a bit undermanned, but they were simply awesome. Some skill errors kept Sydney in the game but they are seriously improved.

On a side note, how long before sections of the media question if it was Sydney landing buddy that contributed to this loss. Especially the players squeezed out. Even getting the full list back, I'm not sure Sydney have the weapons to match hawks or freo.

Well Buddy is already copping it on twitter. 7 possies 1 goal but the conditions didnt really suit him. But if you sign a long contract for that long and amount of money you will some under scrutiny.

Pizzing down for part of the game along with lightening too. If it were a game of golf it would have been called off.

Conditions no excuse, Cameron kicked 4 and Patton 3.

Franklin and Sydney can eat it, to be frank. No sympathy for them at all.

Exactly. I seem to recall a player who wore the demon jumper for a year or 2 suffering similar ridicule. If you are going to play footy for money, you better be earning it. I think buddy was worth this deal, but 5 years ago.

Apparently they had to delay the start because of the severity of the storm, but as TU noted, it didn't stop Cameron and Patton from getting among the goals.

There are no easy games anymore.

Well, I guess we will be the test of that...

Along with the Saints and the Lions I guess that's true.

...and maybe I should add the easy beat Pies. Are Freo a contender or did they beat up on nothing?

Have the Swans lost their way, they're certainly one ruckman down now without Mummy and he made them pay. Pay Buddy, lose a Mummy, is that a good deal? Is the bloods culture damaged?

Gee, not sure. I mean, they did play in last year's grand final, so I think it is a fairly safe bet to label them as a contender.

Yep, more a knock on their opponent.

More likely the first crack in a great culture, caused by the sacking of a few popular players, for a Buddy.

As I asked in the previous post, "is the Swans culture damaged"?

Looked like Mummy would have been handy yesterday...

I've never played in a thunderstorm. Nor can I remember the last game I went to that was postponed by lightning. Makes the young giants efforts even better I think considering that added distraction.

But also seeing them being so horrendous for 2 years just so they could get every maximum benefit from the draft and then they pick up Addison and Hunt for free, Heath Shaw for Taylor Adams who was a first round midfielder of which they have a surplus and Mumford for a pick they were never going to use. It's inexcusable the AFL let them go in to 2012 and 2013 with just a few last legs veterans on their list in McDonald, Power, Cornes and O'Hailpin. They should've had some more decent depth players from the start so they didn't have to be some completely bad.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
