Potent? All i'm hoping for is to see those two running around "together" for most games later in the year. If that happens we might at least be competitive with teams from around 9th to 18th at some stage.

Anything more than that would be a bonus. Had we been able to field a fit Clark, Dawes and Hogan from the get go we might have been a potent opponent.

Happy to disagree.

Dawes, Hogan, Howe, Fitzpatrick, Kennedy-Harris and perhaps a Viney or Kent can test most opposition defences.

Once we dared considered ffielding our Triple Threat and Howe was just a bonus. Cant even get one of our Trio on the park let alone 3.

As much as I wish Mitch well I would fervently hope the club is keeping an eye towards its own position and needs.

not sure why some seem to think this is the end of Mitch Clark - my feeling is that he has having some personal issues (relationship?) right now, and the club (Roos) has wisely considered that since he is not close to playing right now there is no need for him to be hanging around the club when his personal issues need attention over in Western Australia. It would be a totally different story if he was cherry ripe fit, but my feeling is that since the club 'loses' nothing by letting him go sort out his situation they are doing him a solid. It's a temporary thing for mine. My question is WTF they felt the need to make an announcement out of it, we didn't even need to know.

I think its the nature of the events and the course its carving.

Serious injuries. ..even before arriving at Melb and troubled consistency putting together games..further inhuries at Melb. Inability to get back to the park in meaninful way. Now an "indefinite" break whilst he deals with other issues as well as physical recovery let alone regaining match fitness and lookibg at selection.

A person would be very optimistic for mine to think well see Mitch back in the Red and Blue..ever even aside from this year.

So when they start reporting that Clark hasn't been at training for two weeks we all go into meltdown mode and pot the club for not being up front about what is going on?

I think the club have handled it properly - he is taking extended leave and we are supporting him 100%. For the time being nothing more needs to be said other than us getting behind him as well.

Not that I want him to leave, I love Mitch and his carriage attack at the ball but as a Demon support I'm always looking at the worst because that's what I'm use to.

So lets say Mitch does leave, we have $750,000 in the cap.

If we finish 2014 in good form we could actually get a big fish.

Who is free and who do we go for.

Our first port of call is securing our current players. Extending Hogans contract would be high on my list. We also need to nail Roos replacement. Chip comes third. I know Chip claims to want see who the coach is he may be already gone.

I'd go down a slightly different path

we need to be careful with our money because i believe Nathan Jones, jeremy Howe, Jack Trengove, Jesse Hogan and Colin Garland are all out of contract at the end of 2015, and this year James Frawley, Lynden Dunn and Tom Mcdonald are, we wouldn't want to lose any more than 1 of that group imo

Roos replacement i reckon they will have a fair idea of who that's going to be by now

Ive read some comments on Facebook where people have slammed the club for 'waisting money', saying he should just retire.

All of that is a croc, If the club wasn't able to secure clark that year, can you imagine how dark our days might have gotten? he was able to instil hope in the supporters. Even when he wasn't able to play, his optimism was fantastic. In a way i think his wage was well spent, it kept the club afloat in a very dark time.

The fact that someone at our club during those times needed to be payed is forgotten as well. If we payed our players on their merits over the last couple of years we would have only payed a handful of players.

I wish Mitch nothing but the best of health, physical and mental.

He has been nothing but a wonderful presence at our club, and deserves our support. Obviously he's going through a hard time, and I completely sympathise with the struggles of having to deal with a serious, life changing injury. When at 25 it could also end his career, the pain would be twice as overwhelming.

Take the time you need and get the care, love and support that you deserve and I genuinely hope we see you back in the red & blue someday soon. If not, well you still have your entire life ahead of you, a family that loves you and a promising talent you can nurture and develop.

You mean worse than two wins in 2013 and numerous 15+goal beltings and all the games that were over at quarter time?

Many MFC supporters, myself and OD included have stuck through far worse than the loss of a player. It is, above all, a team game
