There's been a lot of discussion on the pick 9 thread about who we want to take when it's our selection. I'm curious to know if there's a standout choice between the Freeman's, Salem's and Lennon's. Vote away!

Feel free to post if there's another player who you think would be a good pickup at 9 that's not listed in the poll.

Freeman, Salem or Lennon would have done. As far as I know there's only one of each on offer.

Or you could go with a Freeman, a Salem or a Lennon. Either way there is a plurality implied.

If Scharenberg is available & we're confident his feet will heal (pun intended), he is a no brainer best available (same with Aish if he happened to slid this far). I voted Freeman cause I can't see either lasting that long. I really like his burst of speed & how he keeps his feet, I think he'd compliment our midfield very well. Otherwise I want Salem, decent speed, elite user who enjoys a contest. I'm sure it'll be one of those 4. I'm not a Lennon or Bontempelli fan so if it has to be someone else then it would be Sheed for mine. I really like Zac Jones, would love another Jones running around for MFC, but I don't think he's as good as the others I've mentioned and a few others I haven't (Taylor, Acres etc).

Yeah I think we need a mid with speed to balance out the midfield.

Scharenberg & Lennon etc would to me be duplicating Tyson or Michie. I think we'd do better with a different sort of player.

And at this stage I'd prefer a genuine mid rather than a converted flanker. There may be a draft when we can take a bit of a punt on a flanker who looks a good mid prospect, but not this draft.

So if Freeman's not available, then perhaps Taylor, who hasn't really been mentioned but who seems a similar type.

Scharenberg if still there. Acres if he isn't. Voted Acres as assumed Scharenberg will be gone.

Disagree. That would mean if Ollie Wines was in this years draft, we would overlook him again.

Dom Sheed for mine.

I have become underwhelmed with the annual draft lottery. I just hope that Roos and his helpers will pick the nuts with astuteness, blind luck or both.

Bontempelli for me. We need a mid with some size about him and Bontempelli covers the ground well, isn't just a skinny beanpole and can go forward and kick a goal and can win his own ball also.

I know we need some pace also, so I wouldn't be disapointed with either of Freeman or Salem, however we can add that speed when we take Mitch Honeychurch at Pick 57, Sam Bennett at Pick 2 in the rookie draft and Jake Best at pick 20 in the rookie draft.

me too.. this time 7 years ago I was licking my lips reading about Cale Morton

not much has happened since to restore that disappointment

just a whole bunch of top20 picks at the club with zero of them becoming the real deal (yet)

Spoke with my mate today who recruits for Hawthorn. He has 3 TAC sides to monitor and has done so for a few years now. He attends all the meetings etc etc.

Interestingly, he told me today that Hawthorn rate Salem as the 3rd best player in this Draft. Freeman is rated at around 15.

Of course they would. They'd get wood just over the thought of a left footer who is a good kick.

Not really that fussed about where the so called experts think each player will fall in their phantom drafts as they do vary greatly with quite a few except Boyd

Billings i think has the makings of someone who can actually influence games but i would expect him to be gone

I went Freeman but still a little concerned about some of his inconsistent disposal

The good thing is we at least have people in place that can teach , encourage and develop someone like Freeman

Could Blake Acres fit into our plans somewhere? His versatility would appeal to our footy department. Would he have been top 10 if he had played more footy this season and he had not been injured? Worth a thought!
