Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Who will we delist next week?

Magner gone - dont understand why but obviously a problem somewhere

Taggart - round 2 pick (36 overall) 2011 draft and has not cracked a game in the worst team in the comp. Another shocking draft pick

I wouldn't write Taggert off yet. Patience....

Roos might do good things with perderson.Roos also wanted to draft Gysberts, could there be a rookie position available, third time lucky, and the boy really could find the ball.We really need a small forward, garlett would be perfect.

I'm intrigued to know how you know Roos wanted to draft Gysberts?

We must keep Byrnes and Jetta as small forward options. Having said that, I don't think Roos used the small forward option in his time at the Swans. Nick Davis was sort of in that role but was more of a lead up, marking type of forward.

I am finding it really tough to sort through our list and find 3 who need to be delisted.

Magner might struggle but Roos will love his grunt.

Nicho has to be in the sights but guess what, Roos will love his grunt.

With his head injury problems, maybe Bail won't make it either.

I'd be thinking Byrnes, Jetta, Magner and Nicholson would already have a foot out the door

Taggart is abit like Michie, just watching him for casey it's obvious there is something there, worth another year under a good development group.

I reckon Roos will keep Nicho.. can gut run and Roos loves those guys that can run. Just remember guys we Geoge Stone on board who taught Kennelly how to kick. First job for stoney!

Nicho has a good kicking action. He can also kick it long.

It's his decision making that needs improvement.

Taggart?

Really?

Underwhelming.

Taggart, Magner, Jetta should be delisted.

Taggart is a player J. He has serious ability, just needs a full pre-season and some consistency and he'll work his way into our side.

As someone else has said, he hasn't had a fantastic run at it due to injury and last year he was developed and kept at Casey deliberately. Not because he wasn't good enough.

The guy can play.

Seen him several times STMJ and have been underwhelmed.

Let's see.

I will be surprised if there are any more than 2 more delistings/ retirements. We have currently freed up 8 positions on the senior list and 1 position on the rookie list.

So far we have acquired 4 players during the trade period and Hogan will take one more position so 5 additions to the senior list total.

With the 3 remaining positions we have the draft picks 9, 40, and 57 (as it currently stands). Behind that is 94 and 112, which one may be used to upgrade Magner (unless if he is delisted) or Clisby (although he can spend another year as a rookie).

If the club chooses to use a PSD pick and/or upgrade a rookie we should see 1 or 2 more players removed from the senior list respectively.

This scenario would be good, delist Bail, Magner & Nicho, upgrade Clisby, get 3 kids in the draft, one player in PSD and add 2 rookies. I know bail has one more yr on his contract but he is not up to AFL standard.

Jetta & Taggert to get one yr deals.

My young son is currently doing skills training sessions (run by AFL NSW/ACT) and two of his "coaches" are former Swans Jason Saddington and Nick Davis... Davis may be small, but christ he has a thumping kick!!

Because there was strong indications that the Swans were going to pick Gysberts if we had not. As it turned out, we picked Gysberts and Swans got Jetta.

Hopefully Byrnes retires otherwise he should be delisted would rather see Blease given a good run at being a small crumbing forward with occasional stints in the midfield if he can get his fitness up.

Roos indicated in a press release before taking on our team that he thought Blease needed to be played (Blease kicked 5 against StKilda a couple of years ago and has talent)

Rohan Bail unfortunately needs to give footy away for his future health.

Whilst Nicholson can run he cannot kick and is not up to AFL standard

Byrnes, Bail & Nicholson to go

Not sure why people keep suggesting we delist contracted players. Not possible.

Equally, not sure how people can suggest we trade contracted-player-X. Trade period is nearly 2 weeks in, presumably we've been floating all the possible no-longer-required's already. Unless there are some takers over the last 24 hours or so, the likes of Byrnes, Bail, Tapscott, Blease, Pederson, Jamar etc. will be with us next year.

As per earlier in the thread, only possible delistings are Nicho, Jetta and Taggert.

Think it'll come down to:

- who might be available in the PSD.

- whether or not we feel we need to upgrade Clisby at this stage

- who might be available at pick 57. Hard to imagine we'd use this pick unless we had someone in mind, but would imagine this would be our last live pick in any case.

Perhaps we'll only need to open up 3 positions: Picks 9, 40 and either pick 57 or PSD, which would take the 3 spots we currently have available.

Not true. We can delist them, we simply have to pay them out. Given our TPP at the moment, it shouldn't be all that difficult to fit a payout or two into the cap if we need to. While many would say that it is a poor option to take given the club's fragile finances, I would say that carrying a complete and utter dud for another year is just as bad as it reduces our chances of success and the current admin are adamant that only with on-field success can the financial side become viable again.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
