Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Blease and Tappy on the table ...

I hereby declare I am a [censored]...having made that clear. Unless you are a perennial long term underperformer ( Sylvia, Jamar) I would like to see what Roos and co can do with the newer underperformers - if Tapscott and Blease have no value at all then what is the cost of seeing if they can improve significantly for a year. The only disclaimer is if Roos has met them and sensed attitude problems that wont get fixed ( think Gysberts)

Edit - I want to see next year as a clean slate - for example - Jack Watts - you have been in a horrible system for 5 years and played all over the shop. We are starting new this year with a new coach and structure. I will judge you on 2014 onwards.

Realistically pick 60 or worse is what we'd get for these players in a trade 'deal'. God knows who or what we'd get for those picks.

I'd rather keep them for a year under Roos and see what he can do with them.

Tappy should be played at half back, best position for him. Better option than Clisby IMO.

On that, when he first started playing he was our lock down small defender.. i remember him waiting for his opponent to just touch the ball and ball he would crunch them in a massive tackle - It to date has been his best position, but i saw signs this year i liked..

On the negative he never seems to land on his feet after jumping for a mark, so he was leading hard and if the delivery was crap he wasn't there..

I'm in favor of keeping them both.. Blease has a habit of getting injured every year & tappy is Trangroves best mate, plus was rated as one of the top three kicks in his draft..

Disagree. Clisby really earned and cemented his spot this year, Tapscott has never done that.

I remember the time you changed your avatar after being accused of 'waffling on'.

Now that you're declaring yourself a [censored].....

Guilty as charged.

I see a couple of good games from a player and think yes. 22 games of that a season over 6 seasons and we got a champion. And then reality hits. 5 seasons on and a couple of good games is the sum total.

I have seen a couple from Blease and Tappy and think yes.......

So why couldnt Roos bring out more of the good games from them ?

( alas not to be and I'm being a [censored] in not wanting them traded)

They aren't worth much I would prefer to keep both of them and see if Roos can get the best out of them.

Would not be keen on seeing them leave.

They both have something we need. Blease with his electric pace and Tappscott being as hard as nails. Both have had less than adequate coaching and development IMO and I believe they will flourish under Roos if given the opportunity.

I tend to agree with this

Blease may have some trade value but Tapscott probably none.

Better off seeing what they can achieve under the new Roos regime rather than putting them out for scavengers on hard rubbish night

Edit Blease not auto correct Blasé

It would seem that as they have been put on the table under Roos' regime then Roos may have a different opinion. IF he thought that he could bring them along, he would probably want to keep them. (Or he may be ambivalent about them, in a sort of take it or leave it mindset.)

Standalone trade - not much value, but they could offer a genuine sweetener to a bigger deal with the right club who sees some value based on an assumption of poor development at MFC, more so than say Strauss, Jetta and Bail who have zero value.

I like Blease's pace and his 2012 season I thought he could build on, 2013 was poor. I agree not much value alone but other clubs may well see it as a good sweetener to a bigger deal.

We need so much attention paid to the stoppages, with an urgent need for a Cross/Sewell type and an equal urgent need for some close in tight skill like SHiel or Sloane. But we cannot totally disregard the need for outside run and class. Dom Barry and Toumpas will give us this, as might Evans, and this is also where Blease fits in. I like what Blease has to offer but I would no longer keep him ahead of the other three.

Tappy and Blease have more value to us on potential under a great coach than what we would get offered for trade.

We need speed and grunt. If these two players came up as delisted and available, we would be looking at them. Their age, potential, poor development by a weak club... Bargain.

In the article Roos wrote about 'turning us around in 2014" he has ? against Blease, Jamar and Fitzpatrick... Tapscott isnt even anywhere to be seen.

so in light of recent events and like your good self there Monoccular i can only deduce he has now put a line through them.

Roos doesnt particularly want them. Kinda simple really.

Greg Denham this morning also mentioned we were shopping around Rohan Bail along with these two. I don't think we'll have to hire extra staff to handle the influx of interested parties.

I really think Bail should hang the boots up for his own good. Too many concussion episodes for my liking. Better to look to your future, I say.

Another example of wasted draft picks. I can see why Neeld used to get frustrated with Blease. He frustrates the hell out of me. Can use his pace for attack but not defence.

What I have seen of Blease I just think with more time, training, discipline and maturity he could be a very damaging player. You watch him at Casey in a competitive team and he can be electrifying, getting the ball at high speed on the wing where he is balanced, then delivers a low piercing pass to a leading forward that unfortunately is just as likely to hit an opposition player lace out on the chest as his intended target. What is that about? When he gets into the firsts he will have an occasional blinder that we all remember or else go missing completely or he gets injured yet again. All that said he has some obvious weapons that I would like to see if Roosey could develop.

I agree with this, he's got a long future ahead of him after footy. Shouldn't risk that to play just a few more games.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
