Fitzy re commits, Jack Viney hurts when we lose. Both want to get the very best out of themselves.

Jack Watts jogs mostly but moves on from a loss quickly, waits and sees before choosing...

The contrast could not be more obvious.

Good decision Fitzy. Hope you continue to develop and improve.

It's guys like this that are going to dig the club out of the situation it's in, guys who will either make it or die trying!

really shows up the attitude problem of a few of the more high profile boys on the list

With Watts likely to leave they probably wanted to sign him up quickly to bolster our key position stocks for the nest couple of years.

watt? likely to leave, >

Great news. Whilst I am an average judge, he is certainly one I thought had the tools to progress. Apart from anything else, he has presence that we desperately need. For goodness sake, why talk of trading a bloke who is starting to look the goods.

Yes, he's an 'asset', but at the same time, depth is required. We can't just offload all our talls to get mids. We'll end up with a skewed list, just the other way from what we have now.

Good on him for putting himself in front of others (e.g. Sellar).

2013's good news story!

Saty has been singing his praises for ages. Perhaps 2014 will be Rory taggerts year!

Watts would do well to have a look at Fitzpatrick. It is often said Watts wishes he was a pick 60 draft.

Well...............

Great news for the club and for Fitzy. I recall someone posting earlier in the year that Fitz was feeling on shaky ground and didn't know if he was going to get another contract offer. Great for him that he was able to force his way into the side and hold that spot with some good solid performances. Now he needs to carry on improving and really cement that spot in the side for next year.

This only happened after the departure of Neeld, he had been in Casey's best for weeks.

And it was not as though we were wonderful at that point and there were no spots available.

Watts has had an armchair ride to the top level and Fitz has had to overcome so much with the odds stacked firmly against him, just to get a game in the AFL...he could be our next Nathan Jones like success story.

Great positive sign for the club.

Great attitude from the big Fitz too

Need more of it.

Must admit I am surprised that all oc players are not waiting to find out who the coach is.

You're kidding. Watts did not choose the number 1 pick spot and the heavy pressure that goes with it as much as Fitzy did not choose where he was selected.

He should just be congratulated for battling illness and making the most of his chances.

Whilst I agree, one has chosen to tackle this challenge and the other is taking his ball and going home

Well done Fitzy!

Good KPPs and rucks don't grow on trees, and neither do players who want to stick around during this tough time.

Great work all around.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
