Not actually sure about that..

Neither am I.

But I suspect the argument that the Club had failed in its duty of care "to him" would need an agile legal mind to develop and sustain.

Probably needs a defence lawyer - they are adept at this sort of thing

That's great news. The only way we will ever get part of the truth of this whole mess is through Robinson's court case.

Mutli quotes.. good to hear! I donhope the Dons (read Little/Hird) hubris has pushed them to this point and it all comes out in a court of law/media.

I have a distinct sensation that this outcome MUST NOT/cannot /WILL NOT be allowed to happen.

It is imperative that these matters are never explored and allowed to be cross-examined.

Wise heads will give their advice.

Settlement will be reached.

It's just about price.

Agree totally, 100% will not see the light of day. Little, et al have a number in mind and once they hit it will settle.

Doesn't mean I don't want the laundry aired.

So few of the golden boy's fellow coaches turned up for the meeting that it could have been conducted in a telephone box but there was plenty leaked to Caro. The source was not notes taken by Mrs. Hird ~ When James Hird caught up with a few of his fellow senior coaches

Hird continues his delusional stance maintaining he's only a pawn in a much bigger game.

the thing they forget about whilst they continue to be unhappy with the AFL and ASADA is that they caused the problems by injecting their players with unknown substances.

the end

The Bombers argue that Robinson, paid $290,000 a year plus about an extra $30,000 from club sponsors, was responsible for the club recruiting Stephen Dank something Robinson has denied and for ensuring a safe and legal supplements program.

sooooo

the bombers sacked him for recruiting the guy who ran an unsafe and illegal supplements program, and for not ensuring that program was safe and legal.

BUT

they ran a safe and legal supplements program (according to them)

therefore;

either he was unfairly dismissed (because the program was safe and legal) or they ran a dodgy program.

You would think so but maybe Robinson really does want his day in court.

Can't see it happening either but it would be the only way we will get close to the truth.

I truly hope this goes all the way.

Robinson would have to be a member that extremely rare breed of humanity that values reputation and good name above reputation and family financial security.

Seems the weapon is playing hardball. That must annoy Little.

If Robinson is successful...another $2M goes out of the Bombers bank account......Karma.....got to love it!

I think they will pay him close to $2mill to keep him out of court.

They're trying to get away with not paying that much money but you can guarantee that an undisclosed settlement will happen and when it does you can also guarantee he will be getting close or right on his $2mill. Robinson knows they can't afford for everything to come out into the open.

Be a few sweating on it not making it to open court.

Catching up on the week's reading and found this gem from Patrick Smith who's keeping up the attack on Tird:-

Essendon owes Hird zilch but Bomber deserves whole lot better

... the problem that confronts Essendon and Little is that appointing Hird will not put an end to the ASADA drama. With Hird leading the club the trauma, the headlines and suspicions will never disappear. To get rid of Hird will cost the club many millions. But that money must be raised from someone or somewhere. Hird must be paid out and moved on.

The club might owe him contract money but through his behaviour since this story broke in February last year they owe absolutely nothing else. The Hird era at Essendon must come to an end. For the sake of the club itself.

i love the article in the Herald Sun where Goddard is stating its unethical for other clubs to go after contracted essendon players. What universe do these people live in where everything they do including going after mitch clarke and feeding their own players unknown substances is ethical but others talking to their player is not.

Unethical? like the use of performance enhancing drugs... or when your day comes to answer the show cause notices going straight to court to get off on a technicality... or re-hiring the senior coach who oversaw the whole situation and has not shown a sign of remorse... should I keep going?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
