seems essendrug are quite capable of keeping and retaining records after all :o

now if only they could find those pesky player supplements records

''In 2012, [Essendon] players suffered 30 hamstring injuries compared to a 10-year average of 9.2, missing 88 games compared to a 10-year average of 29.1,'' the document says.

''In 2012, players suffered eight calf injuries compared to a 10-year average of 1.6, missing 26 games compared to a 10-year average of 6.4. In 2012, players suffered eight quadricep injuries compared to a 10-year average of 2.9, missing 20 games compared to a 10-year average of 7.9.''

I think the AFL and EFC have done everything to make this story go away

and they almost succeeded ,to give dank/weapon a brown paper bag to go away was an easy option

for some reason {hird} this story keeps rearing up and giving the AFL another headache

their sanctioned reporters have been willing to back off

asada have backed off

but this story wont go away

im hoping mr hird keeps rattling cages and puts them in the deepest hole imaginable

I think he just realised one million for no job,no future footy job and a tarnished reputation is worth more than the one mill

I doubt very much that ASADA have backed off... I think that one of the reasons this is starting to take wings again is that ASADA are probably getting closer to using their power to haul Dank before them and people are starting to get nervous.

I really don't understand this talk of ASADA backing off or ASADA being unprofessional... when you think about it, the whole Cronulla, EFC, NRL/AFL issue has only been "officially" with them for a few months and in terms of what the ramifications can be, they should not and will not attempt to rush a decision.... our dislike (ok, for some, hatred) of Hird and the EFC clouds our judgement and makes us impatient, but ASADA has to get this right or the consequences could be disastrous... particularly if WADA becomes directly involved. I imagine any precedent set here that favours the perpetrators could have a flow on effect beyond our shores, and that is something WADA will not be wanting to happen.

As I have already mentioned a couple of times, I read somewhere that ASADA will be invoking their powers and calling Dank in for questioning possibly in January, so I guess there is every possibility that player sanctions could come into effect some time later in 2014... and I suppose the other issue for the EFC and the AFL then becomes, as the AFL has only penalised the EFC for bringing the game into disrepute, what further penalties will they issue on top of ASADA sanctions if they are found guilty with rgeards to the injections program?

One gets the distinct impression that the AFL has been trying to cover essendons butts the whole time (esp. the players)

of course they have...one might add a couple of non club butts to that list Id suggest :rolleyes::huh:

the Melb thing is a total beat up. But if Trenners gets nicked he gets nicked.

Melb is a big case of someone else, a very guilty someone else shouting"Look over there" !!

Different ppl in charge of us now, people better place and able to fend away the jackals.

I hope you are right BB

But I have no faith in the previous Management

The MFC must be the most investigated club in VFL/AFL history

Even BBO had been suspended from DL for doing the wrong thing!

"Sources close to the investigation claim ASADA will probably not be in position to determine the players' fate until early next year."

(from the Cronulla report).

hoping this turns out to be true

im getting worried about the AFL.no show

agree we have to be patient

i think asada cant use all evidence until a higher authority is finished with thier investigation

jobe watson by his own admission is guilty of an asada violation

the only thing i can think of stopping an infraction notice is the authorities dont want to present evidence that may be getting used by a federal authority in a case yet to be finalised

Roy Masters of the Sydney Morning Herald is usually well informed and it's worth noting what he writes here - NRL on right track as AFL's efforts bomb

ASADA has enough evidence on Essendon now to decide to issue infraction notices and is merely waiting to see if there is any cross-fertilisation with evidence from the NRL enquiry.

Coming thick and fast:

Now the good Ms. Hird weighs in:

AFL distorting facts, says Tania Hird

LOL - she says hubby has been unfairly treated! Surprise surprise.

I love the bit how he would of only taken the suspension if he was fully paid

Nothing original to add. Just venting.

But my god this whole business (and I use the term advisedly - it sure ain't sport) is morally repulsive and the individuals involved are sickening.

Thats all folks.

So the message to the AFL community is?

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
