Your right im probably just paranoid

I dont think your being ridiculous. There is a chance that he might not want to stay and who could blame him.

Although he hasnt played a game for melbourne yet, he is 4th in vfl goal kikcking at the age of 18.

Theres alot to like, and if its true, that he is waiting on the clubs future to unfold before signing then it does sound a bit dicey.

But we have time, hes with us til the end of 2015.

The club knows how important Jesse is, two more years to run on his contract as it is, i wouldn't stress too much about it.

Pa-lease! If the kid wants to go home, he can. Either way the club gets a nice return. I'm so sick of these kids going home because of "home sickness". Get real. I get that life is good in WA and Perth and Adelaide (hmm maybe), but you're at most a 5-hour flight home. Get over it.

That said, I'm sure he'll stay. If he does leave, wow, that might be even lower than where the club is now. It would be perhaps the final tragic nail in the coffin. Bam. It would be the universe saying, "LOL Peter Jackson" and Hogan leaving and never looking back. Can't happen. Shouldn't happen.

IMO Hogan is Melbourne's first big challenge of this new regime. Nothing is more important than signing someone like Hogan. This is the club Melbourne should be but hasn't been for 50 years.

We could all have it wrong. Whether he intends to stay or not is actually quite irrelevant, because either way he'd do the same thing. He knows he'll be worth more after a good first season than if he signs a contract now.

Like when Scott Thompson fled home and we got....Brent Moloney?

I do agree with the rest of your post though.

Its been reported today that Jesse wont agree to a contract extension.

He says he just wants to concentrate on getting a senior game next year.

Gold Coast has managed to get an extension out of Jack Martin, butvwe cant do the same with Hogan.

If he doesnt sign by the end of next year, he will be out of contract and everyone will be after him, no doubt throwing obsene amounts of money at him.

Im worried we might lose him.

I wouldn't be signing a new contract right now either, not unless they were offering BIG money. He has until the end of 2015 to show just how good he can be and add a bit of weight to his contract. Also, right now he has no idea what the club will look like next year and the one after. He's doing absolutely the right thing in holding off for a while before considering the next contract.

It's the same as Watts and Col, why would anyone sign not knowing who the coach, board and president are?

wouldn't work for someone and have no idea who the boss is.

We need to get the club in order before we can expect Hogan to even consider signing.

Just because we drafted Jesse, he doesn't owe the club anything, I am sure all clubs would've treated him well up until now.

Hogan would be silly not to keep his options open, the club should be under pressure to get things right - not Jesse Hogan.

Hogan is in his rights to wait until his contract runs out and if the club hasn't improved, then Jesse should strongly consider leaving.

Hopefully PJ can get the club back on track so we don't lose more high drafts picks.

Sexist. What if she's a brain surgeon?

Rebecca Judd is a Speech Pathologist.

I don't think being a weather girl is demeaning because she has a qualification.

Hogan is like a prize young heifer now. We need the stud bull midfielder to give him the service and satisfaction to stay with us. Or else he may end up useless as [censored] on a bull with us.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
