Sadly, I think you're right on the button about Aaron. His days are numbered.

Davey put the cue in the rack right after his last contract He does not Give Shite about this club and it shows

This could be the real test for the coach

The right selections

The right match ups

The team plan

The recognition and use of existing skills

The ability to get the selections to perform to the best of their ability

The right game plan and

The understanding of all the above to have confidence in alternative strategies

Sorry

I cannot believe that our list cannot kick more than 4 goals in a game.

I laughed when the Myrtleford coach, his team resoundingly beaten by Yarrawonga, claimed the pigeons would beat Melbourne

Now Im not so sure

Craig may only be interim but the coach and the players are playing for their futures

they must do better

All assistant coaches are in this same boat which looks like the titanic

Rant over

Unless there is some dispensation Magner cannot come in, he has to replace somebody who is on the LTI for 8 weeks, there are only 5 to go.

Outs for me

Kent, Davey, Tapscott, Blease, Pederson

Isn't it 8 weeks not 8 matches?

Surely Magner can come in for Clark? Not that I'm overly fussed about Magner he's only a stop gap.

Don't we still have the Free Mid-Year Rookie Elevation in our pocket.

NO! We elevated Clisby (and hopefully we will keep him elevated next year).

I think Strauss has done enough to deserve a game, and I'd like to see him come in to play off the half back line. Resting Clisby might be a good move, and Strauss would be a natural replacement for him. I'm actually surprised they didn't bring Strauss in for Terlich as the late change.

I'm not sure bringing in Magner achieves anything for us structure wise, because I wouldn't be bringing him in ahead of Jones, Sylvia or Viney, so I'm not certain where he would line up from a structural perspective. Does he deserve a game, probably. But I just don't know where he would line up, and whether he would present a better option that what we currently have there.

I wouldn't make a whole range of changes though. If this side is going to develop together they need to play together and get more games experience. Then, once they got that experience, hopefully they'll do a better job at avoiding situations like Saturday.

imo, sadly another band-aid measure we took back around that time 2003, where No other club wanted to, we took.

looked impressive but not an effective big game type... we have been full of them.

... flashy types with an anti Selwood way of things. all disappointments & never wear a bruise.

Add midfielders and running Defenders, get rid of small forwards that can't run through the midfield

Clisby Frawley Garland

Strauss McDonald Terlich

Toumpas Jones Grimes

Howe Watts Dunn

Byrnes Dawes Fitzpatrick

Gawn Sylvia Viney

M Jones, Trengove, Davey, Nicholson

In Garland Terlich Strauss Nicholson

Out Kent Blease Tapscott Pederson

Move Dunn forward as that defensive forward, that can also run in the midfield, get the balance right down back, Terlich and Strauss add that run and carry whilst McDonald/Garland/Frawley hold down the key posts.

We need to get the balance right, last week we played 5 small forwards with only one of these capable of spending time in the middle. Davey stays in because last week was bad but he has been OK prior to that.

Nicho comes in, lets face it most our team can't hit targets but at least he takes the game on and unlike Blease he can actually get the footy.

Whether Magner is eligible to play or not, if he's not going to be on the list next year I don't see much point in playing him. If he is going to be upgraded or if the club is uncertain whether to keep him or not, then now would be an excellent time to give him the last few weeks as an opportunity to convince the club he's got what it takes (if he can be upgraded).

I didn't see or hear the game on the weekend, so I can't comment on specific individual performances, but just a comment on Dunn's kicking. As I've said before, his long kicking is only an asset when having shots for goal. He kicks the ball so high to get distance it gives the opposition too much time to get to the drop and spoil.

Agree with this, with the addition of Davey out and Taggert in. 2 of Norths first 4 goals were gifted by Davey and I saw no extra effort to get ithem back. I would also like to see Davis at some stage so perhaps Clisby out and Davis in as well. Clisby hasn't done much wrong though so if Terlich isn't available he can take his spot. At some stage we need to ge a look at Tynan, Davis and Taggert to see how they go.

Don't forget Taggart was dropped to the Casey 2nds a couple of weeks back, his form over the past 2 weeks has been OK but would like to see a couple more good games before he gets a crack.

Agree with Davey, but we need to give him some credit he has been playing good footy for the past month.

Strauss should be known as Titanic Deck Chair # 1A.

In this case the Tiitanic is already residing at the bottom of the ocean.

It's harder to assess off the radio. Each time I heard his name it seemed to be associated with a turnover.

I guess if he's beating his man then that's a step up from the other 21 players.

Probably our best result from general play in the match was the result from a kick out from Dunn , which he sent about 60 metres straight up the centre , from which we ultimately scored a goal after the ball fell to ground and we picked it up and sent it forward to convert within 20 seconds of Dunn's kick out.. Highlight for me (considering there were very few.) We found ,on the other hand, that the ball was quickly fired back into North Melbourne's goal square each time we kicked out towards our right half back flank area..(at least ten times). usually wildly, to where we were invariably outnumbered by tall NM players..No method or value in that.....

Bit like some of the crap I have seen posted on other Topics by some Posters, when referring to Jamar.. These boys have served the club well.. Show a little respect for them in probably what may be their final year...

Soxy, if that was the selection critea we wouldn't be able to field a team. We only have 4-5 players that can kick properly and make good decisions. The difference between Nicho and most of the others he can win get the footy.

Jeremy Howe can have a spell at Casey

Are you an [censored]?

Howe has had 10, 13 and 6 disposals the last 3 weeks which includes 2 tackles against nth and 0 against Gee in the wet and 0 against bris. Only 1 goal also.

His high leaps have papered over a few cracks in his form this year

OUT: Pedersen, Dunn, Trengove, Byrnes, Davey

IN: Garland, Jetta, Taggert, Magner, Tynan

Dunn: You can't be serious. I thought he was our best on Saturday. Dunn was on a very dangerous player in Lindsay Thomas who is Norths leading goal kicker with 45, and kept him goalless despite endless inside 50s and opportunity for Thomas. He was the ONLY Melbourne player to beat his opponent on the day. Further Dunn's form has been consistently good. He is given a role each week and this season has almost always completed his role with distinction. Dunn made one poor error which cost us a goal, but outside this was excellent in an awful performance.

I can't understand the Dunn haters on here. He is doing his bit. He goes in hard on every contest, wears his pride on his sleave, shows controlled aggression and usually wins his position. He has been close to our most consistent this season, behind Garland. With the roles that Dunn is given he will never be BOG, but due to the ball constantly being in Norths 50, he was our best on Saturday. Clint..... watch the game on replay and spare your frustration to those who do not go hard enough and lose their position every week.

Re: the bolded - he has rarely done 'his bit' in the past, his pride ususally means jumper punching, his aggression usually means jumper punching, he rarely wins his position, and he has been nowhere near Colin Garland in terms of performance and consistency.

He plays a good 6 or 7 games every second year and I am thankful he is playing well currently.

There is a spot for him if he can continue his form - but I won't put any money on it.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
