WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS

...

Gawn will have to double his output from last season to be anywhere near Minson. I remeber the game we played against the dogs this year where Gawn was doing a decent job of staying even with Minson. Then in the last quarter it looked like Gawn could have fallen over from exhaustion.

...

This is Minson strength, I have seen him lift multiple times in the last quarter while the other rucks tire.

Not disputing that Gawn will need to improve massively bit I expect him to improve massively!

Not to the extent that he will surpass Minson but with a preseason under his belt for the first time I expect much higher fitness and endurance.

He has had a horrible run with injuries the past couple of years, but barked through to the best of his ability last year. It was actually great to see him so stuffed, it showed he was truly giving 100%.

I'm worried. Tyson isn't smiling.

Remember this photo was taken when wearing a GWS jumper. Makes sense.

Damien Barrett ([censored])
Damien Barrett, often referred to as [censored], is a [censored] that began his career searching through sports people's garbage. On a few occasions he managed to stumble across some little nuggets of information that were deemed worthy of use in one of Australia's leading newspapers.
From then on, his head - which resembles some sort of rotten onion, Elvis Costello and Ray Liotta's acne scars hybrid - grew to massive proportions. He thought his opinions on football mattered, and his giant purple head would spit forth wads of verbal diarrhoea that would splash upon unsuspecting readers and viewers making them repulsed and nauseous.
He can often be found in gutters, rubbish bins, service station toilets and worst of all, the footy show.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Gawn has NEVER had a preseason with us. When he does this year he will be a power. It is amazing he was as good as he was at time last year.

I don't give a toss about what Barrett says .... he's a dimwit, and everybody who knows football knows it.

On the other hand, what I do care a great deal about is the fact that for the first time in more than a decade the signs are there that my club is starting to excel in a lot of what it does off the field, and I'm becoming bullish about what we might be able to do on the field as well.

Theyve always said get the admin and fd right and the rest follows.

We're starting to at and manage ourselves like a proper footy club. Next year , dare I say it, I even expect us to play like one.

Up til recent the players would have been excused for thinking they were part of a rabble , and never be any good !! (sorry..lol ) But I fully expect them to walk taller , run harder, kick straighter for no other reason than they will start believing they are capable of it and this is in no small part a product of the rejigging of the guts and the addition of bone fide ability such as Cross

I am actually a bit disappointed we have signed Cross, he wasn't getting a game at the Dogs last season, so there must be a reason.

Yes we needed a bit more in the midfield, but a guy on the wrong side of 30, doesn't kick goals and is slowish, yes courageous, but has the game passed him by?

We tried this last year with pretty mixed results. You get experience as a young guy by playing games, I hope he doesn't hold one of the young ones back by playing

The other 3 signings, yes all for them, Vince is a proven goalkicker as well as a midfielder and the other two could be anything

1 warrior an experienced linkman and 2/3 promising young mids will make a difference. We might be three times as good..ie win 6 games.

If Cross is that good why was he dropped from a team that won ?????? games in 2013. If he was that valuable he wouldn't have been let go. He will probably get some good footy under his belt at Casey with an occasional run off our senior bench. Thankfully he won't cost us much in terms of picks. A good ordinary player, his stats flatter him.

Love it but everyone playing with fire so slightly changed!

What you talking about Willis? He had a fantastic run of games towards the end of the season and was of the reasons they started winning games!

The kids can train well, then play well at Casey, then learn a role, and then they can play AFL for Melbourne.

Sick of kids who are 'great trainers' getting games on nothing more than that.

It is pathetic.

Cross would be our 3rd to 5th best mid as of Rd 1, 2014.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
