Once again, Hutchy on FC stated as fact that Neeld wasn't into him. I'd love to be able to challenge him to back this claim up, but it's not like they'd bring it up if it was texted or tweeted in to the show. [censored].

Both Ralph and Hutchy have made the claims after it was said here.

Coincidence?

It was so obvious to anyone who watches Casey games that Fitzpatrick's apparent spudness at AFL level was down to his nerves.

Except Ben who called him a gumby last week!

I was at a function on the weekend and one of the players said "Neeld didn't rate him". We are starting to see significant improvement from just about everyone. Even Neeld's greatest success Nathan Jones said he just loves Craigy.

What were they thinking.

For those who didn't see it, on Footy Classified last night, there was brief reference to Gawn/Fitzy and comparing their output in the last 2 games to Jamar's using statistics (disposals, goals, etc) as a measure. It was very brief, but the conclusion was obvious. Gawn and Fitzy are not just the future but possibly the here and now.

Neeld was Jack's coach at the Western Jets. When he came to the club he said Jack couldn't play and he wasn't going to play him.

I have been quoted on saying "one of the worst players to wear an MFC jumper."

Enjoying eating my own words on this one

He is showing something... and showing people to never judge a book by its cover

Marion Bartoli won Wimbledon [censored] ... Double handed from either side, ridiculous serving action, moves like a frightened cat. But she won the biggest tennis tournament in the world. The ungainly Fitzy should take inspiration and work as hard as he can so he doesn't end up resigned to the 'what if' pile in a few years time.

I've lost track of the number of times supporters have given players (e.g. Jamar, McDonald, Fitzpatrick, Spencer) the "spud, dud, won't make it" tag after only a few games. Especially tall ones.

Go back and see what half of Demonland was saying about Garland early on in his career.

its ok fella, we all make mistakes, its just that only honest people own up to them

same thing will happen with barry/toump

playing these boys in the ressies will do them the world of good ,it will be a lucky coach that gets the rewards in the next 5 years

Marion Bartoli won Wimbledon ...

Bartoli might not be the flashiest tennis player but she has got guts and competitiveness in spades. If the Melbourne players had that, we would win every week.

You don't have to go too far back either 'maurie'. Garland should be in the AA squad this year, probably our only rep.

I think the inconsistency argument can be found in a number of threads. I suspect there are just as many who claim former 'spuds' have become 'elite' as there are those who bemoan any rule changes and then call for an immediate redrafting of some rule or other.

I called him a goose, but is he really a swan?

And the frustrating thing is they don't learn and will do it time and again.

i didnt see the show, but noted after the game that our rucks combo had 35 posessions, 16 marks and 3 goals between them. When is the last time we can say that?

I'm loving Fitzy's work. Always had faith. How many player have his height and speed? Very hard match up i would have thought and a he improves opposition teams will need to put one of their biggest and best defenders on him. Throw Hogan, Dawes, Clarke and Watts in the mix and you have a potent forward line (albeit one that is perhaps too tall).

For me one of the most frustrating things about Neeld was that he gave mixed messages about performance in the twos. He made clear in his first year that that he would pick players on form. I acknowledge that playing at Casey for an extended period might have helped Fitzy but he has played great there all year and should have been rewarded earlier given Dawes and Clark were out.

Amazing if true Jnr.

Sorry I am not doubting it.

Seems like every day now I find another story suggesting he was less than wonderful.

Another rumour Old Dee, plain and simple, Jack has had major health and fitness issues, once he was up and running ie solid games at Casey, Neeld picked him, even at the end of last season, so it is exactly what it is, revisionism again

Or Frawley for that matter. I'm definitely happy to say I always back Chip to become a good backman!

On Fitzy, he is an odd one. In every sense of the word! I really enjoy watching him play because every time he did something good it really looks like he shouldn't! The question I have is where does he fit in long term? With Dawes, Clark (fitness permitting), and Hogan as big power forwards who can rick in the forward 50 and Watts and Howe rotating as medium forwards/HFF/hole-pluggers where does that leave Fitzy? Both he and big Max need to add some body strength on because they seem to be out muscled in the rucking. Are they ready to be a ruck combo and what do we do with them when the players earlier are in?

Anyway I'm really happy to see him playing well, he's had some tough breaks so nothing has come easy for him.

It is true. He only finally picked him when under pressure from the footy dept.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
