Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Mitch Robinson is a MUST. I can't stand the bloke but that is exactly what we need. An unsociable, tough as nails, battering ram.

We have plenty of nice boys and we still play bruise free football.

Add Robinson and Hogan into the side, two blokes who love finding the body, and the culture will gradually change on field.

Robinson picks and chooses his contests, he's not as hard and tough as is believed. Skills would be at home with a lot of our guys but we need better.

People whinge incessantly on here about the disposal of Nicholson, Grimes et al and you want to get Robinson?

Robinson can find a lot of the ball. He has been used more forward this year but every time he gets thrown in the middle he gets the ball. I agree his disposal isn't the best but it's definetly not the worst. Either way I would'nt give up a lot to get him, maybe a third rounder if he walks.

Could we get him as a delisted free agent?

I wouldn’t mind getting Robinson. While not being the most skilled, he seems driven and we need extra size in the middle. We need extra depth and I believe he can supply some of that. If we could also bring in Sewell (not sure of his contract status) and perhaps Adams without giving too much away, we could improve the midfield in the short term. Optimistically, if we could also snag a couple of very good young midfielders in the draft then we are looking much better.

I would also hope the new coach will be able to get the best out of the current players with better structures and systems, we have a very good goal to goal line when all listed players are fit and available.

Not a rumour but we should have a big crack at Stokes from Geelong if possible - unrestricted FA. 28 and could add a bit for a couple of years.

The small forward we need until someone else comes along.

Not just that, is playing well through the midfield at the moment too.

The only good small forward is one who can run through the midfield and do it well. Stokes has been very good this year, not really the leader that you would want to get at his age though.

Don't agree with that - if they are kicking enough goals they don't have to be able to run through the middle. If you have more than one playing then at least one would have to be able to rotate through, yes.

He'd be a valuable pick up as a player, we can look for leaders elsewhere.

Personal opinion that I've stated many times, but I don't rate small forwards at all if that's their only trick. All the good ones play up the ground now, even the bad ones except they can't get a kick there.

Robinson just bombs it to no-one.

There's also a difference between being driven by desire and achievement and being driven by brainlessness.

Definite no from me.

Robinson's disposal is quite iffy. Kicks it like Dunn (up and under, and long, with not a lot of skill/purpose).

In saying that, his rough, hard-at-it mentality is quite appealing, really, and might help set tones on and off the field.

At a cheap price, I'd take him, but only at a cheap price.

I think he would be the kind of guy who might be a bit of a negative off field. Reeks of arrogance and his attitude seems to be poor - remember that fight he was in a couple of years ago at a music festival?

Im hearing we are big on trying for a trade of our first rounder to Adelaide for Rory Sloane - particularly if Boyd falls through to us. You heard it hear first champs!! Rumour that Rodney Eade is out in front but not 100% on that.

I've watched Mitch Robinson closely this year as I was stupid enough to Dreamteam him. He's a stupid dud. Gives away undisciplined frees, crap disposal, flies for marks he never takes and gets hurt in the process. Just a very average footballer who has a crack, but invariably gets it wrong. I'm far from surprised he's been out of the team.

The Inside Footy article suggested we were interested in using pick 2 for Sloane.

Let me put on record that I love his heart and passion, but in reality he's a good get at pick 40 something. He doesn't have anywhere near the class that warrants the mention of pick 2. As I said, I rate him, but don't get seduced by a B+ footballer that we all love due to his intent.

Personally, my extreme distaste for Robinson as a human being clouds my ability to objectively assess him as a footballer.

I've suffered too much already to accept seeing that fool in a Melbourne jumper.

A genuinely shizen human.

I'm sure him getting into a dust up at the BDO would be at the forefront of your mind when he made a match saving tackle or kicked a winning goal.

As soon as they put on the jumper, and perform, whether they're someone you'd want to have a beer with is irrelevant.

He's dropped off this season, but the previous two he was averaging 22 touches (9 contested) and 5 tackles a game, and he's still only 24.

At the right price the club would be crazy not to look at him very seriously.

Mitch Robinson once said he would measure his career by the number of concussion tests he'd had.

I'd like to know how you can do a concussion test on Mitch Robinson. ^_^

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
