The Trade/Draft Rumour Mill

It's not a quick fix, it's stabilizing the list. We grab a couple of guys in their late twenties to fill the experience gaps that have been there for years and then aim younger. We need a more balanced list, this has been obvious for years.

Depends on the price, a player like Montagna won't come cheap and that's not for us. Some of our list is now moving into the over 25's anyway so age wise the list is balancing out. We missed top picks with GC and GWS coming in and there will be a hole in the younger talent unless we can recruit a Swallow or Adams if not we need to get into this draft and develop the ones we get along with Viney, Hogan, Toumpas and Barry.

free agents will do that, without coughing up picks that will help build our opponents.

only giveup picks for players who will give us a potential minimum of 5years

We have numerous young guys. PRoos will be trying to in both young and experienced in an ideal mix. Look forward to sunnier times D'landers

I heard a rumour yesterday that montagna is linked with Dees.

To be honest not sure how I'd feel about this. I suppose if it was for a 2nd round pick it'd be ok.

Turn it up! What's this another one for the MFC retirement home. No thanks

Not a rumour but my god I would love if we got our hands on Nat Fyfe, I reckon i'd prefer him to any other player in the comp besides Gary Ablett to be honest.

And I want a toilet made out of solid gold but it's just not in the cards now is it?

Rumours people, rumours.

Dustin Martin to re-sign because no one wants to give up anything to get him. That is the only rumour I have heard outside of this site. Auf wiedersehn.

The only reason you would want Fyfe is to double your chance for 'mark of the round'! His three early set shots for goal yesterday for a return of 1 point cost Freo the game yesterdayand certainly gave Hawthorn the momentum. No thanks.

Are you suggesting that the two out of bounds on the full by Fyfe followed by a point from three gettable set shots early in the game might not have altered the outcome for Freo? I cannot see that observation is any where near as moronic as bringing back Bennell.

because up to that point he was about 90% on set shots over the season and despite those kicks was with Mundy their best player on the day.

Fyfe is an absolute jet, totally untouchable right now.

Well apparently not. Just announced in the Sunday Footy show that Fyfe rumoured to be on the table. GWS willing to offer pick 1.

Virtually Fyfe for Boyd.

Nice carrot, GWS.

Nice carrot indeed.

Also mentioned that Freo is still in the mix for Buddy. Could Fyfe also be part of the deal here? Perhaps given his rumoured desire to return to Victoria this would be a more likely outcome. Freo would surely prefer a ready made Franklin rather than a young Boyd.

Fyfe is a W.A. boy?

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
