Zak Jones

Actually, not a bad idea. Perhaps a club needing an experienced ruck with salary cap pressure might give up a pick around 25-29 for Jamar if we paid half his contract?

I'm half optimistic Moonie but in my wildest fantasies I couldn't imagine anything like that for Jamar!! As Jman said - we'd have to pay someone to take him.

One possible downside of our very successful trade period so far is that Zac may fall out of our reach.

But then perhaps all the other potential suitors have heard the very strong rumours about his really bad knees - only expect a season or maybe two maximum out of them. And "the other issues"!

has he got knee issues as well? Geez, poor kid. dicky knees ontop of his ankylosing spondylitis. I hope he'll make it to 30.

I have zero interest in Zac Jones because he's a Brother of a current player. I couldn't care less.

I'm interested in him because he sounds like a younger and better version of Terlich. U18 All-Australian defender and Vic Country's MVP. Can apparently play midfield too.

The fact that he is Nathan's brother adds 'intangibles', would make his transition into AFL footy much easier.

True, Zac has to be chosen on merit alone.

But if our pick comes down to two players of equal ability then Jones Jnr should get the nod. Yes footy is a business but there should also be room for sentiment and heart.

Does Kate Upton have a sister?

Yes but nobody has any interest in her!

I definitely would rule him out because of this fact. Yeah because his football ability is undeniably linked to the fact that his brother plays for MFC.

I wouldn't rule him out because of it and I wouldn't rule him in because of it.

Pick players on merit.

I agree they should always be picked on merit AND to fit into the needs of the club list and its gameplan. This is something I think Roos does brilliantly.

Just as a matter of interest see how many brothers we can name who have played for the Dees. I'll start off:

Flowers: Robbie and Tom

Johnstons: Terry, Tassie and Bob (although I rather suspect they were cousins)

Cordners: Dennis, Don and Ted

Macdonalds: James and Anthony

Stynes: Jim and David

Can anyone name any others?

Hassa and Len Mann were cousins,

Jimmy's brother was Brian (Stynes)

Matthew Febey was Stephen's twin

Why on earth would the MFC put his highlights on the club page right now? It's no good for anyone.

If the club don't pick him at 9 it may have only got his hopes up (and some fans), and he won't be around by our next pick. Alternatively if they are advertising we are keen to select him at 9 it's just a stupid move.

I like Zac Jones but this was a poor decision by the media person in the club today.

Did the MFC put these clips up, or did they originate from AFL /NAB?

I love the way he attacks the ball - like his bro - but I guess his disposal is why he isn't mooted top 10-20. Only hits a few targets.

It's just the usual pick up of an article on the AFL site:

afl.com.au/news/2013-10-21/keeping-up-with-jones

It does no harm, i doesn't say anything to imply MFC is after him, so where's the potential disappointment or pick 9 issue? It keeps MFC in the news, is positive and I expect it will go into any portfolio we put together to lure a sponsor. Where's the harm. Maybe BB is right - you're not serious?

The article does mention his 22yo brother Josh as well! Who does he play for? (Hard to beleive as the brother in the middle that he would be hopeless!)

GAMEDAY: Rd 11 vs St. Kilda

It's Game Day and after 2 losses on the trot the Dees must win against the Saints today at the MCG to keep in touch with the Top 4. A loss today will see them drop out of the Top 8 for the first time since 2020.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

Many warned that this was a danger game and the Demons were totally outclassed all game by a young Eagles team at Optus Stadium in Perth as they were defeated by 35 points.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.
