Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Lots of talk on 3aw about Choco Williams coaching us. Apparently according to Dwayne Russell, even when coaching at port, he wanted to return to the heart of football and coach a team.

The positives about Choco is that he wouldn't give a toss about political correctness, he wears his heart on his sleeve, is cunning, street smart, hard as nails yet has the delicate touch that can infiltrate a players psyche. He gets the most out of his players, is a mans man and makes his team play above their weight. He thinks in abstract, yet can be wild. But most of all, he is a master motivator and is desperate to prove the football world wrong, who have already written him off and selected untried rookies over him.

He led pa to be the greatest home and away team for about 4 years running, bringing in one flag.

I don't know if the silver spooners would like him tho.

All in all, if we don't land lethal or Roos, I would be delighted to follow choco for the next 5-10 years.

Happy happy joy joy, the new sun is rising!

Ps, we are going to come out and smash the saints. The shackles have been released and now our spirits can fly once again. I am so happy.

Carn the mighty demons, rip em apart, kill em all!!!!!!

Tigers supporters love him because the way he has turned Dustin Martins life around and also the guidance he has shown to the younger players. He was also praised for the vast improvement of the GWS youngsters last year, and now you look at richmonds young guns now and seeing how well they are going. Has people skill, PASSION, leadership, development skills and plus a witty side to him..

Did he have a pretty good leg up at Port though? Without the extra recruiting advantages how would he do? I'm unsure.

Was right hand man to Cahill during 1997 & 98 took over the following year and from memory took them to finals in his first year where they lost to North. There original draft concessions were not great (nothing like GWS & Suns) they traded there first pick in 1996 draft which Meth Coast used for Gardiner.

From 1999 to 2004 he had Port as a formidable side who finished minor Premiers 2 or 3 times. He then rebuilt the list from 04-07 and got them to the GF again in 07 where they lost to the powerful Geelong side. I think he had run his race with Port by the end of 08 and it was time for him to move on then but he basically built two very good sides at Port!

He'd be sensational I think, however as I asked in another thread, do people know why he would want to leave Richmond at this point in time? Has he stated that he wants to coach again?

Not Williams for mine.

IMO he fluked a premiership with a very good list, then screwed the club for the AFL's biggest coach contract, when Port was limited financially; fundamentally sent them broke 4 years later. They are still recovering big time.

Massive ego and a nutter. Not for me under any circumstances.

They didn't have to pay him! They should've sent him packing. Really they stuffed each other but even on the way down he had a team in a grand final.

Would take Roos and Clarkson first but they are both a fantasy at the moment. In reality, Choco would be my first choice. Can look after younger players but can give a very good spray at the same time and seems to demand respect.

Choco should have been seriously considered post Bailey. He had all the attributes that we needed when we decided to go down the Neeld path. I'd be happy to see him in charge. Aside from his toughness and tactical nous, I think he'd bring some spark, spirit and even some fun to the place which has been so badly lacking. I don't think he'd talk about attempted tackles or 'competitive quarters'. He certainly wouldn't be wheeling out the 'it is what it is' line!

According to his brother Mark Williams has the "fire in his belly" to take on the coaching job at the Dees

MARK Williams wants the Melbourne job and would be an even better coach with the Demons than he was at Port Adelaide.

That's the opinion of the man who knows him best, his younger brother and triple Port Magpies premiership coach Stephen Williams.

Eade and Choco are both hooking for the job.

Let's be thankful for that, im sure a lot of people said "Who the hell would wanna coach the Demons?"

Well two very good coaches want to so far, and Roos maybe too.

Eade and Choco are both hooking for the job.

Good luck to them but resume by media is a bit tacky.

Both are employed by rival clubs.

Managers just making sure our supporters know that they're definitely interested.

No excuses for not talking to them.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
