One more piece of uncut, confirmed news.

MFC wanted 5 years, but Paul Roos would not commit. However, Paul Roos verbally said he WILL coach beyond 2 years and beyond 3 years if all is going well. Roos wanted an out should admin, board etc fail to maintain the structure and standards he requires.

This should keep the entire organisation in line.

This is what I had suspected. This was Roos clearly saying to PJ and Bartlett that the job's not done yet.

Get the structure right and he'll stay longer.

1) Thank goodness we can steal something out of the season

2) suck a d brisbane

3) 2 years is awesome, long enough for him to instill his values on the club, and encourage the development of another coach!

I really hope he can bring across Cameron Ling, Paul Williams, Michael Voss and even James McDonald, we would have several options to choose from to take over from roosy if he feels like a short term contract is all he wants

I think the shorter than expected contract may be key to enticing the best candidates for assistant coach positions.

It's a perceived carrot for taking over, but once they are in place, I'm sure Roos will talk them around for a longerterm apprenticeship, a la Longmire.

Maybe an overtly positive view, but it's the one I have.

Or GNF's explanation is probably a lot better...

What's wrong with everyone? Where's the WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS thread?

We are still pinching ourselves - we have never experienced an emotion like this before. The sweet taste of success!

I'm currently in my school library and just heard the news. I probably celebrated a bit louder than I should've. Everyone is giving me weird looks now.

I also like it from a MFC POV as there will be life after PR just like there was life before PR - this will mean we don't have a massive payout if it all goes to water.

Me too, different school library. I can't make a sound our librarian is mean.

Finally good to see a decision, I don't have a Messiah complex about him, and think his reputation is overrated, (he won one flag when most of the competition was in rebuild mode) but he was the best out there, and there was a sustained period of finals at least, something I would like to get used to

I will wait and see what we do with the list and who he thinks are good assistants, he got it right with Lyon and Longmire (part of the reason for his success), are there any of the same calibre out there? ( I personally hope he keeps Rawlings and Brown)

The two-plus-one nature of the deal says to me that Peter Jackson is the greatest negotiator of all time.

Remember how the last four-year deal we signed turned out? Not so Flash.

Jackson has not only landed the biggest fish we could have hoped for, he's done it on his terms too. What a CEO!

How long til someone starts the Sack Paul Roos thread.....

I didn't know how I'd feel until it was done but I believe this is the best I have felt about our club in 38 years as a supporter.

How many times have you said that in the last 38 years?!

Welcome Paul. Good luck.

Looking forward to seeing the well trotted out "culture change"

I pretty excited about this, To be honest this year, as an overseas supporter, I have dropped of the radar. Not much to hope for. Not much to tune in for.

Now I have hope.

I have so much work to do today and my boss is starting to get [censored] at my lack of concentration.

Only so many days I can use my "dad is in hospital" excuse before she realizes I'm actually just posting online about football.

Best feeling I've had for a long time regarding this club. It's amazing how Roos has turned my feelings of despair to feelings of hope.

WINNING!!!!

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
