Josh Mahoney said at a function that under the new rules they are not allowed to announce a new coach until the day after the grand final if that person is currently employed at another club.

so craig could be announced now.. however Roos and Choco we would have to wait.

Just seeking clarification. Did he say "after the Grand Final" or after that team's final game for the year?

What function?

There was a pre match function (brunch).. at a hotel across the road from West Lakes.. (forget the name)

However Jade Rawlings, Russell Robertson, Josh Mahoney and Mitch Clisby attended and Robo interviewed them all..

+ Parents of Jack Trengove, Luke Tappscott and Jack Watts where also there

It was put together by the SA Demons

Jay Clark has just Tweeted that Rodney Eade is about to announce a contract extension with the pies..

This would be irrelevant wouldn't it? Pretty site assistance can break contacts to become head coaches.

This may be standard in assistant coaches contacts, although perhaps eade being a senior assistant has a downturn type of contact.

Eade isn't the guy who takes a contract just to guarantee his future just to shove it back in their faces. If this is confirmed and he's signed on then he is out of the race

The bigger question is what has made him go from all ready to interview and coach again to happy to stick to his current job. Maybe he has no interest in Brisbane, and maybe he has no interest in Melbourne either or he could've got news that someone else is in line for Melbourne.

So he said we would announce our coach then. That would mean we have already picked them and may explain the interviewing of assistant coaches to come across as assistants?

According to Jay Clark, Eade is giving away the coaching caper to concentrate on the Football Director role he has been filling in the place of Geoff Walsh.

There is nothing to make transparent!

He said he is not interested in coaching next year.

Paul Roos, has told both clubs he is "definitively not interested"

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/paul-roos-tells-brisbane-lions-and-melbourne-hes-not-interested-in-either-coaching-job/story-fni5f22o-1226698787702

That article is an example of poor HUN journalism.

Read the quote - Roos said 'I've said to both of them definitively that I'm not interested in doing it'.

The journalist then re-worded it as 'definitively not interested'.

Might sound like semantics, but they're different. What Roos actually said was that he had clearly said to the clubs that he is not interested. As we know, though, that means little from Roos given he continually says qualifying things like 'at the moment that's how I feel' and 'never say never' and all that.

What the journalist made it sound like was that he is definitively not interested, full stop, no qualifications.

caw, go easy mate, go easy... or your money may go-west???

I wonder if our next Coach will have to brush off the down?

ah, another alternative tea leaf reading. Brush off the down may imply he coached a swan......

Seriously, there is NO way Roos is coaching us.

Just seriously guys. Seriously.

Who will coach us then?

Eade is out.

It wont be Craig.

That leaves Choco as the only realistic option if we want a coach who has tasted the ultimate success.

maybe he intends to coach in a lesser serious manner

You get the feeling we may have told him he wouldn't get the gig and the Lions did likewise.

Obviously "not the type of coach we're chasing."

Or

Someone more desirable is in the bag.

Geez it's going to be boring around here when the club is actually stable and we're winning games.

I heard it through the grape vine. We get Voss. No sorry, Jock Mchale. No can't be him, he's long gone to God. Maybe Allan Killigrew. No, gone the same way. Nah, I've got it, the reason Grant Thomas has stood out of the media for so long was he was waiting for the Dees job to come up.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
