For the record, and for people not to be carried away, from my understanding the current odds are not a bad reflection on reality. Perhaps $1.50 would now be the fair market.

A deal has not yet been done yet.............. but its looking dam good.

Odds , mean nothing, the maximum bet is 50 bucks, you seem to think you know whats happening, but my bet is its just another ghost with pie in the sky, put up or [censored] shut up.

Hindsight is great in these types of circumstances.

I can't see a person like Jackson jerking someone's chain.

What if the betting agencies simply listened to what Jackson said last week - that only Roos has been contacted.

So, in a one horse race, surely the only horse offered the job would be pretty short odds, wouldn't you think?

Odds dont drop like that unless something concrete has happened.

His views on the players are not as critical as they have been, IMO he is forming opinions on players from a keep or throw away perspective, his take on terlich and matt jones was text book coaching... who ever we get I hope they instill that into the players... Keep chasing your man.

These 'novelty' bets are all about PR. The reality is they have maybe a $20 or $50 bet limit. It wouldn't take much to wind the odds right in. Maybe a few hundred. Its a good story - it got in all the papers. Mission accomplished. Its the cheapest advertising you can get.

I can confirm this by another source who was spot of with a couple of other things, start of the season is what I'm hearing.

Ah, McLardy and Schwab on the front foot again ... ahead of the game.

As a tea-totaller who had never smoked anything of any substance not sure how Craig will feel about that comparison why you little!

It would be hilarious if the AFL in their infinite wisdom awarded us a priority pick at the front of the draft - ie the Boyd pick - thus gazzumping their golden child GWS.

Won't happen, but it would be so, so sweet.

The more time that passes without him ruling himself out the more confident I am about Roos being our man in 2014 and beyond.

One of the reasons why I'm such an advocate for him is that I believe he'd be a 'whole of club' coach.

Craig has already worked hard - using Barassi's maxim that if you want to be a footballer, look like a footballer - and if Roos comes in then I hope he stays on.

... exactly, & this is why I was pushing the Roos brand so hard 2 years ago, after Bailey..

I wanted Roos or Matthews, followed by Clarkson. didn't want malthouse or Lyon.

Tim Watson has just said on SEN that he has a source who believes the chance of Paul Roos coaching MFC next year is getting stronger and stronger by the weeks.

There's a reason the likes of Manchester United and the New York Yankees are always in the mix.

It's money.

So I have absolutely no problem with the Dees writing the fattest cheque in the history of the game to land Roos, particularly if it's back doored by the AFL.

This could be a game changer for this club. Get it done.

For the first time in years I'm excited about this club:

1 - performances are getting better and we're having a crack;

2 - don't see players on the field with their heads dropped and looking as though they want to be somewhere else;

3 - what appears to be a proper direction and plan for the FD;

4 - CEO, what do you say...brilliant job to date;

5 - overhaul and bringing in the right people; and

6 - and the cream on the cake, hopefully Roosy...

I know people will say, don't get ahead of yourself. But, I feel like dancing in the street and giggling like a little school kid!!

Whatever we pay him we will make it back threefold in extra members, sponsorships and crowds.

the MFC has always been weak in that regard. Always looking to save money with the cheap unproven coaches. Pathetic really.

I hope Roos signs tomorrow and I dont care how much we pay him.

Bring it on.

I like the way u think HH.

Hopefully some good news is around the corner.

PS dont forget the AFL will be bankrolling this so money is not an issue. (for once)

He laughed that off a few weeks ago.

Said apparently he's bought a house in Perth without even seeing it.

Confirmed as 100% BS by Roos. Not only did he confirm that he had he not been to Perth of late, nor seen any houses but also had never heard of the suburb of the house he was meant to have bought. He found the rumour very funny.

While I would marginally prefer Mark Williams as coach, I think Roos would provide a wonderful uplift for the club. I also think there is a good chance that the terms of his appointment will include draft assistance, which I will be the real boon. Roos knows the AFL want him to coach MFC and he knows that success will only come with an influx of on field talent. If Roos is smart he will use that leverage to our advantage.

Someone else brought it up earlier in the thread but the reason Roos would be a better choice and the first option over Craig, Williams or Eade is because he would "coach the club". The others will still be good coaches but we don't just need to fix the team, we need to fix the club.

    DRUBBING by Meggs

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

    In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

    It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

    If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

    The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

    It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

    I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
