On radio 3lo after the game they said,"Melbourne Football Club is not making anyone available for comment." But I thought they meant not available to 3lo. Didnt think they meant there wasnt one. Are they allowed to do that??

The club did not make anyone available for comment.

We actually have to provide them with someone for a press conference as part of the TV rights deal, so we will get a fine for this. Obviously they were in serious discussion whether Neeld was to be moved on.

Yeah mmm good point.

This either reflects very well or very poorly on the club. Either they're doing what needs to be done and not letting media commitments get in the way, or they're so incompetent that they can't even figure out how to run a press conference.

They play Rock Paper Scissors to see who goes up, but so far they haven't quite figured out a defensive game plan so everyone keeps losing and it's making it very confusing to pick who actually has to front up.

Give it another 5 years, I hear that's the timeframe.

Now I have calmed down a bit...

I don't like seeing anyone get sacked. This bloke has a family to feed and the situation he has walked in to is pretty bloody tough.
But he must go. For himself and for us. The last few weeks have been merely about self preservation, of his job and likely of his health. I have been here before. When you know you are stuffed and you really are just counting the days till you resign, are asked to leave or your contract runs out. You aren't doing yourself or the people in your charge any favors by hanging around as you can't pretend you are motivated and everyone knows you are killing time.

Mark, and I say this with no glee, you need to move on.

Time the club tell the media to go FFS.

Nothing they report has any influence on me as a supporter.

I get 2 hours every week to watch what any fan needs to see from us.

I just tweeted Mark Robinson about it and asking him whether something could be brewing.. waiting for a response

Ahhhh.......probably reflects the sign of crisis before blood is spilt.

And given how insipid they were no words were going to sensibly or reasonably explain it away.

And anything said would just be ridiculed.

The media would only want to know the answer to the question...."can the future of the coach be guaranteed this week?"

.....Hard Question......but there is an obvious and likely answer...NO.

He walked in with his eyes open and should have known the situation. He must be on around $400k per year and is going to be paid out about 18 months.

Coaching is a hard gig. Neeld is realising that.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
