Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

I think we'll keep Frawley.

I just don't know where our pick will lie.

But I'd trade pick 3 or 4 for Shiel or Tomlinson or whoever Roos wants.

I'd also trade pick 3&4 for Shiel & Tomlinson.

Happy with either trade.

I'm not sure what Chip will do, but I certainly think we are ticking all the boxes atm, good direction and culture, few wins, commitment from Roosy

I still think Treloar is the second best talent at GWS behind Cameron

I'd be thrilled with 3&4 and our second rounder and Blease for Treloar, Shiel and Tomlinson

bit of a mega trade but if the boys wanted out of the Giants I reckon they would take it.

Are you sure that's still correct? It was when Williams was at GWS, meaning his daughter was also in Sydney for much of her time, but a couple of years have passed since then...

I actually recall hearing she'd moved on to another AFL player.

Not sure if the source was any good though.

If thats true then there you go.

I guess more chance for us then!

I would agree if it was a choice between Cameron or Shiel and the cost was the same. However if you could get Shiel you would still have salary cap room for another quality mid. Whichever club gets Cameron will also have to hand over more in draft picks and/or a required player.

The game is about mids. We need to get a top 4 quality midfield in place. That and a sound defence will finals matches

agreed 'fndee', we need the likes of a shiel, treloar, & outside gut-runners with elite kick.

the ideal in trades with GWS would be one of Patton or Boyd, the mega tall power forward who is strong when the ball is on the deck, & one of the Mids.

In relation to Cameron, we only need Cameron IF Hogan wants out.

We don't need three 6'-4" key forwards who play similar game-styles roaming the front half of the ground at the same time. we do lack the deep power forward who can ruck as well, & ideally go down back, if we were lucky enough to find such a player.

While I agree with parts of this, I do think that having a quality forward line goes a long way to how you go in the finals. Look at Hawthorn: they won the grand final on the back of Gunston, who was there third best tall forward (after Buddy and Roughead).

You can also look at Geelong, who won most recently largely due to Tom Hawkins coming of age after Podsiadly went down.

Sydney have shown that it is possible to win premierships with a strong midfield and an average forward line, but I think if you can have a potent attack your chances of winning it all skyrocket.

just like us in the 90's.

we fell short with an excellent attack. But Why? Its not about attack. Its about 'Canning' your opposition first, and scoring.

There will be outside gut-runners every year to look at, there will rarely be key forwards like this who are already as good as has proven himself like he has.

I'd love to have three big forwards roaming each week. They can share it playing two thirds a quarter each up and a third of the quarter plonked in the square. Imagine, instead of kicking it to Dawes everytime at CHF (which isn't the worst at the moment with the efforts he puts in) there will be two options streaming at you. Then once one of the two clunks it, the ball goes down to the next line with a gun full forward demanding it or Gawn/Jamar just chillin beans in the goal square. Seriously sexy stuff!

I really couldn't care how it happens I just want the kid as he is a star!

Besides, from the continued injuries key men are getting these days how often will all three play together?

well, there are some Key Forwards this very year, in the Draft, & I'm not sure if there are any elite gut-runners who can kick. It would be helpful to pickup a mature gut-runner who has at least a couple of pre-seasons under their belt, as we are desperately short for good ones.

..... One thing we don't want to do is follow the Swans buddy type deal.

surprisingly Chris Dawes has just turned 26.

picking up another young 194cm key posi player from the draft would give us a good spread of list years development wise... or taking a different shape power ford would give us more versatility for structures.

Bit like the dilemma Richmond found themselves in when deciding whether to take Tambling or Franklin, not that I'm suggesting that Shiel is a Tambling, but if you have a choice between a mid, of which there are numerous, or a KPF then you go with the KPF unless the mid is Judd.

Carlton filled their side with Mids and forgot that you need someone down forward to kick goals if you get the ball there.

I agree with you, Cameron will be a star and I'd love to see him playing alongside Dawes and Hogan.

Shiel is dating Mark Williams daughter so dont be surprised if the tigers make a big play for him.

That would be the exact reason that they would think twice. What if they broke up messily, plenty of club politics in that.

For anyone who thought we stood a chance, forget it. We missed our chance the trade period before last; Roos saw his talent a mile off and tried hard to get him; just couldn't convince the Giants.

Good luck to him.

A GWS flag won't hold a lot of weight in the next decade.

Give any side in the league the amount of quality draft picks - and they'd be in a similar position.

When things aren't fair and equal, it's hard to take success seriously.

Just a compromised era we are going to have to get through.

Still can be done, just need to work out a trade deal we both like if he does want to return to vic. Though very unlikely.

I still think they'll have trouble retaining a lot of them. Okay, so some of them have signed on for an extra two years, but that's not a great deal longer in the scheme of things.

Further, it only takes a Treloar to say he's going and all of a sudden the rest are very gettable.

Meh

The way Hogan, Brayshaw ,Tyson, McDonald, Salem and others have played early in their careers tells me that we are finally getting the development side of things right.

Lets build our own finals bound team through the draft. Much more satisfying that way.

So shall we trade out Tyson, Vince, Garlett, Cross, Frost, Dawes, Michie, Newton, Lumumba, etc who were obtained through trades, not the draft?

So much for a raid on giants players. By some salary cap miracle they all seem to be signing up one by one.

Gold Coast on the other hand seem to be a less cohesive club off the field. All these club imposed suspensions should help clubs pry players away.

Youse all still don't believe my mail about 'the pact' did ya?

One by one, the cards are falling into place.

I think it would be remiss for any AFL club to pay overs for GWS players....their reserves get a bigger attendance than their seniors! And, they're all recruiters!

Oh well, move onto the next big fish....

I admired Sydney until they added both Frankenstein and Tippett. Now I just see them as another group of spoiled brats given special treatment by Vlad and his successors.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
