And the nominees for new Messiah are..........

Peter Jackson, for being willing to have a look at us for 6 months

Jack Viney for his own misfortune of being the son of Todd

and Jesse Hogan, the early front runner because he hasn't actually done anything and won't be eligible to until next year giving us a longer period to cling to hope.

Following the norms of demonland we should now pin outrageous hope on one of these 3 turning the cluster around.

Previous winners include: Dean Bailey, Mitch Clark, Chris Dawes, Mark Neeld and the new AAMI facility

will be a combined effort from everyone, with Peter Jackson leading the way.

But nothing will happen without a proper coach that commands respect and can lead.

I think we need a Messiah poll RR are you there?

Who in order of potential contribution should be the next big thing at the MFC

Who will be the next messiah?

You left out other previous winners, including Jack Watts, Tom Scully, Jack Trengove, Cale Morton and Brock McLean (for his financial donation, not his appearance on TV)

You are right of course. Jack Watts was one of the youngest Messiah's we've annointed...paralells make me nervous about Hogan

With a proper coach Watts, Trengove, Viney, Dawes, Clark et al can become demon messiahs

I've deliberately refrained from even mentioning Jesse Hogan for this exact reason, and the fact that Don McLardy pointed to this young kid as an example of our great forward-thinking mindset made me sick. It was on that day that I soured on McLardy forever.

And quoting Jack Viney as the future of the club at a presser following a pathetic smashing at home against the Suns......it's like deja vu but it's happening all over again...we keep driving the expectation that we are one player, one coach, one resource away from greatness......

The inaugural award went to Diamond Jim Tilbrook - and other past winners include Big Carl, Templeton and Moore, and more recently Watts, Scully, Trengove and Viney (and soon Hogan and Toumpas).

The saviour mentality is strong and ALWAYS fails.

Honour before Honours, folks - that's the fundamental the CS didn't get

Yes, we keep Waiting For Superman and he keeps standing us up.

Jackson will have his way and that is good for the structure of the FD and any new appointments.

But our salvation is slower and more boring than any hero-by-night.

We require a board of high influence and involvement, a FD of experience and efficiency, and a proven head coach able to provide a confident playing group and a competent gameplan.

And while we are doing that - we need a unified supporter base with respect for those that will fall on their swords and for those are pushed.

RPFC we also need a strong mentally tough committed playing group who know how to play as a team

Jesus Christ himself would struggle to get this lot over the line.

Time to change my avatar I think.

Yesterday might have been the tipping point. I still believe things will get better but I'm not sure I want to watch any more for a while.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
