That's great news. It's a lasting tribute to a seminal figure in Aussie rules, no worries about that. A champion of the game along with brother Len. (And Peter who I saw play numerous times in the 2's).

What sticks in my craw is it's called the 'Australia Post Avenue of Legends'.

Until the next sponsor arrives

Here's a radical idea. How about the 'Avenue of Legends'.

As long as the ground remains the MCG forever, I can happily forgive such crass commercialisation outside the ground, even more so when the sponsors are paying for the statues to legends such as Norm

Norm's name will be always synonymous with AFL greatness, so long as the game is played. It will be great to have a permanent tribute outside the ground where he created so much history.

Really is impressive. It's hard to see in that photo but the red and blue in the tie is the thing that really stands out for me... beautifully complemented by the grey in the suit and the bronzed (visible) body parts... a magnificent work of art.

Could this symbolic act be a curse lifter.

Let's hope.

mark Neeld should take the entire playing list to Norm on the first day of preseason. Lay down the standards that must be kept.

I was expecting to seen him in his battered trade-mark over-coat

ah well, such is la vie

Me too daisy, but it looks great none-the-less.

Next years trip to Melbourne will be another photo opportunity to go along with the Barassi photo

It really is a shame we don't have more contemporary things to attached ourselves to PSD.

The life of a Dees supporter I guess.

Let it be known that today, the 24th day of September in this the 2012th year of our lord, the Curse of the Red Fox was lifted from the Melbourne Football Club!*

*Well we hope so anyway.

It will be sweet when it happens OD, I have faith I have waited 32 years and think were on the downward run to the Holy Grail now. Not saying it's around the corner but it will come

Neeld's 2nd year will tell us a lot.

If serious improvement is clearly visible then i will believe you.

At least now the club can no longer hide behind excuses which it basically has done since Norm was sacked by Telegram in '65.

The situation is now fight to survive or die.

In a weird sort of way i like it.

Excuses achieve bugger all.

Today the Froot Loops will be hurting, they almost beat Hawthorn when NOBODY gave them a chance.

But next year it means absolutely nothing.

I might have to change my name now... Fantastic and FINALLY!!! let the curse be lifted.

Not yet NSC.

Wait †ill we have the cup in hand and the tears of Joy down the cheeks.

Actually it should be MFootballClub greatness, & AFL footy greatness.

NOT the MCC greatness.

Norm Smith - I am Melbourne

I remember that awful, unbelievable day so well. "I am Melbourne"!

So like Don McLean's "The Day the Music Died" just a few years earlier - gutted empty feeling.

But, as many have said here, hopefully the inner Demons are now exorcised and we can return to the winning, dominating days.

Back Neeld - he has a steely resolve. Get on board, or get off......no passengers allowed.

I got Norms Smiths autograph in 1957 or 58! He really didn't want to sign,- "No you don't want mine, I'm not one of the players." I was an 8 year old footy mad Dees fan and said, "I know who you are and I'd like your autograph please!" He kinda looked around hoping no players were looking.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
