Our best win of 2012 came against Collingwood in the nab cup.

We put pressure on the ball carrier, pressed well and skill level was ok.

Yes it was the nab cup but there were good signs to take into the season proper.

Maybe our game plan is better suited to the ice rink at docklands?

Could it be that the mcg is a little too big to implement needs game plan?

Good point, but same could be said about Ross Lyon's version of Freo. They have grabbed a good upset win at Eithad against teh Saints and at teh 'G against teh Tigers this year already.

You're basing this on a NAB cup win? Have your eyes been closed all season?

We will get pantsed. Again.

Cheers

If we can improve our kicking to forwards inside 50 we are a chance this week.

Freo have been pretty average this year

We smashed this mob last year.

We can do it again.

All the more reason to bring back Green. Kicked 5 last year.

I'm confident.

Should probably go see a doctor.

Sounds a wise idea jaded.

Result will be between 8 and 10 goals

Will depend on how many kicks Mckenzie, Bail, and Trengove spray into the forward line or out on the full.

Green and Davey seem certain to play so I will revise that 5 goal win to freo.

If we get Green and Davey back we get two guys who can hit targets DemonWA.

That should improve things over the last two weeks, still think we would need a dramatic turn of events to win.

But who knows.

Why is this game at Etihad?

1 game at the MCG all weekend...on Saturday night. A Friday night or Sunday arvo game would have made sense.

We have to play 2 games there every year Cudi, part of the AFL agreement with the stadium.

I believe all clubs have the same commitment

Did anyone see the Freo game last week?? I didn't but was listening to the radio after the match and all the commentators were saying how bad they were and that they would have to give Melbourne a chance. Clutching at straws I know, but you have to at this point in time!!

Every week a "why we'll win this week" pops up

Every week we end up getting smashed

Similair type of thread to the 'How good was Natanui this week' thread i pressume

I watched it, it was the typical Freo win; Most of the players were passengers on the back of Super Pav and a few others

I'd put a defensive forward on Johnson, Play Chip or Tom McDonald on Pavlich, Nicholson on Balentyne, Joel MacDonald or Rivers on Mayne. Job done from a defensive point of view. Problem for us is kicking a winning score, not holding them to a mediocre total IMO.

Spot on DemonWA it is either does not enter forward fifty or no one there to take a grab when it does.

Faint chance if Green and Davey return.

Freo have won 6 legitimate games this year and we have 1 legitimate win. Game is at the Death Dome

That says it all for me.

Problem for us seems to be (among others) is the flat start.....we seem competitive at least after that.

Very Good BB Suggest you email the MFC

Could be just the tactic that sets up our third win.

Except that our first shot for goal will miss everything and with no-one there to bring the ball back in to play the game would be abandoned. But I'd probably take a nil-all draw at this stage of the season.

The MFC to beat a Ross Lyon coached side at Etihad....Is this some kind of joke??

How many time did he win with the Aints there??

WYL the difference in personel between Saints and Freo is vast.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
