Alcho Dee 269 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 It was good to see Neeld give Morton a spray. He chose to use his left foot and was lazy with the disposal. Members had a great view of it. Expect more from top 5 draft pick. Quote

jnrmac 20,361 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Sadly he is contracted for next year. Dream on... Quote
Undeeterred 3,127 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 When I saw the title, I thought maybe Neeld had wandered down to Casey and let him have it there too... 1 Quote

Skuit 10,031 Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Here's another bump. I didn't want to start a new thread, as I'm sure that it will just descend into an inane discussion. But good to have the interview documented somewhere on here I suppose. 1 Quote
Demon Disciple 12,530 Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Good to see Cale has finally put on a bit of weight! 5 Quote
Cards13 9,117 Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 The host does the Deebrief podcast as well, a Dees fan podcast which is pretty good. Quote
Lord Travis 10,817 Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 In hindsight Neeld was a terrible coach, and Morton’s development was probably ruined like many others from that period. Shame we wasted all those high draft picks. Hopefully we’ve got it right this time. Still not convinced after another 17th places finish... 1 Quote

Cale mentioned a number of interesting points about facilities (e.g. junction oval), player development, support staff, complacency and others, which gives a fairly honest overview of us at the time. 2 Quote

One of the worst ever. 1 Quote
Skuit 10,031 Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 I was all ears for what Cale had to say. Until the quiz at the end, and then started questioning whether he would have bright enough to play football. 2 Quote

Morton's as excited as Brucey boy... apparent from the 42 seconds to 44 second mark. I'm excited... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8FiAhzKQOM Edited May 9, 2020 by MyFavouriteMartian Quote
TeamPlayedFine39 8,525 Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Morton's done a few podcast interviews in the last year and they're always pretty insightful (honest discussions always are). Same group had one with Russel Robertson last week; that one was very good. Quote
darkhorse72 1,943 Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Simple and straight forward example of why culture is the key to success. We do not have a culture and that is one of the reasons Roo's choose Goodwin, as he spoke about culture before his appointment and not strategy and tactics as the soil focus. 1 Quote

spirit of norm smith 16,679 Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Neeld killed us. Sacked Green and installed Grimes and Trengove as a massive mistake. Youth went backwards. Morton gone. Scully jumped. Saw senior players leave including Rivers, Sylvia, Moloney and James McDonald. Brought in Clark and Dawes in massive $$$$ deals Quote

Youth went backwards. Morton gone. Scully jumped. Saw senior players leave including Rivers, Sylvia, Moloney and James McDonald. Brought in Clark and Dawes in massive $$$$ deals Green was a very ordinary leader. Morton was a failure under Bailey's time. non contact was a big mistake in Morton's development, just as it was with Bennell and Gysberts etc. Morton needed sorting out. It must have been 'fireup', or 'F' off. His moving on was a bonus for us. As was Bennell and so many others recruited under Schwab's time. Scully, no loss in real terms. I'm glad now he did go. Rivers ageing, Sylvia another adding to weak culture, Moloney again James McDonald was let go by the administration of Cuddles Schwab, etc. Not Neeld's doing. So Neeld is guilty of one thing,,, trying to get the layers to show some fight, like Watts Morton, Green, etc, and the likes of Moloney to show less fight and more leadership and healthy culture leadership. Neeld came into a basket-case club culture, and ripped it a new one... which set the door open for Roosy to enter, to start the real club rebuild. Neeld did us a huge favour, pulling the network of rotten and soft culture apart... Roos would not have come onboard if he had to do the dirty work. It would have reflected badly on Roos's CV, IF he had to do all that dirty work. # edit: Jnr Mac was the blunder and we pushed the best leader of our club out. He was the guy to lead the recovery, with young kids in Grimes and Trengove learning from his leadership. The footy dep't, F'd-up, big time. . Edited May 11, 2020 by MyFavouriteMartian Quote
Sir Why You Little 37,450 Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Let’s be honest. Cale couldn’t handle the pressure of the AFL Competition, regardless of the situation at the club. Neeld was not a good Senior Coach, but he was bought in to toughen the place up. 186 had just occurred The Players had burnt Bailey, even though they all “loved” him Quote
