Regurgitated by another commentator and promptly printed by the HS.

Please oh please don't take Tony Shaw seriously. The man is honestly the dumbest around who offers an opinion. Barely knows anything about Collingwood, let alone the rest of the AFL.

So he thinks that the two Jacks are so lacking in gumption that they wouldn't stand up and relinquish the captaincy on their own should they feel it warranted. What a [censored]. Sadly Tony, these two are both men of sterling character and if they felt it was better for the team they would already have offered to stand down. How about we back them up and try to take some of that pressure off so they can show us just how good they can be?

In the words of Norman Mailer/Christoper Hitchens/Sir Les Patterson - who cares what the dumbest guy in the room has to say.

It is clear that Neeld is introducing, has introduced, a professionalism never seen before at this club.

Poor Tony finds it hard to get anyone to listen to him at the best of times but this latest gem shows what a philosopher of the game he is .

Tony comes from a family that thinks Melbourne supporters drive around in Rolls -Royces eating caviar ,drinking champagne and playing golf all day while they go and work in the boot factories where even poor dumb Tony can get a job .

Hes Right in my case except its a Range Rover ,

and in his case the old boot factory is now known as The Herald Sun .

Time to pop my bottle of Breakfast Moet and read The Age .

One thing I don't understand in all this commentary is that I would actually have said Grimes is in ok form... And aside from Jones and Clark nobody else has put their hand up anyway.

Herald Sun + Tony Shaw......couldn't even bring myself to follow the link which says something about the standard of commentary we're getting these days.

Ross Lyon reckons if you're vanilla nobody listens, but I couldn't be more the opposite. Unless I'm dealing with facts it's just more useless opinon. I would rather hear from our own supporters.

Tony Shaw was on Neil Mitchell last week talking about sexism.

Word of advice: don't take his advice. On ANYTHING.

That's what gets me about all the captaincy talk is they seem to totally ignore Grimes, 90% of the talk is about Trengove as captain, not even co-captain!

I'm happy with how Grimes is tracking, Trenners will get there.

What i find funny is 'commentators' making these sort of silly statements when there is not a hope in hell the club would/could do it. I mean there is no way the club or the players would relinquish the captaincy.

There are always examples of this sort of palaver. The one that got my goat recently was David King saying the club should come out and admit it made a mistake in appointing Neeld. I mean as if they would do that, even in they did actually think they had made an error. Never going to happen so why (especially if you are a so called expert) bother suggesting it. Crazy stuff.

But Tony know's so much about football and getting the best out of players, I don't think we can completely ignore his comments. Just look at this from his "I know all about players file"

Shaw was unsuccessful off the field, as coach. In 1996 he would guide them to 11th place, and his best effort came in 1997 when the club finished 10th. Shaw could never improve and get the potential Pies out of the bottom, coaching them to the clubs second wooden spoon in 1999, after that Shaw resigned as Collingwood coach.

Next week in the Hun Tony Shaw will do a two page spread titled "Why the wrong side won the Second World War"

Haha really enjoyed that comment!!!

There is a lot of shite talked about us at the moment - a lot of it is crap. But we can't dodge it either - we aren't good enough at the moment and deserve the scrutiny

It would be a bigger blunder bu the club not to address the 'issues' and deal with them at the end of this year

How come they're not allowing comments on that article? Perhaps because everyone will point out that he might have been a playing 'legend' but a coaching disaster.

I would truly love to hear Tony Shaw's commentary on racial hygiene, the Nazis concept of "race" and, particularly, how they used this concept to formulate their plan for a "Super Race".

I guess his comments would be something along the lines of: "The Nazis weren't racist. They just wanted to be really, really, ridiculously awesome".

I still get a chuckle out of Shawy's "Rumour mongrels" quip instead of "Rumour mongers" a few years back .

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
