Colin's one kick you mean??

Very funny WYL.

But isn't it a bit poor to make such a comment when someone may have a serious back injury, no matter how badly they played?

I wish nobody a back accident.

Butcher must get 6-10 weeks for this.

Didn't see the incident, but even the enormously biased commentators "couldn't confirm if Butcher's eyes were on the footy" and they said he arrived late.

Have a nice holiday John.

Although Port's defence may be "but it was Colin Sylvia!"

Seemed to work for Josh Kennedy.

So effectively, John Butcher broke Sylvia's back...

If he doesn't get six weeks the MRP is a joke.

So we send a medical report to the MRP right? That's how Trengove was suspended last year, and Dangerfield only missed one week. Butcher out for the season!

I don't think he even missed a week.

Hate to be a pedant RM but Dangerfield not only played the following week, he also kicked 6 sausage rolls.

No justice, neither was there any when Moloney missed Bartel yet was still suspended for striking fresh air - need I go on ?

I still don't know what happened. I don't really care what Butcher gets either. I lost confidence in the system a while ago.

If however, a deliberate illegal act has led to 2 spinal fractures, that will keep a player out for 6 weeks, it will be very interesting to see how the MRP views the incident and the penalty.

Wow.

Get well Col, & we hope to see you back Up & running around ASAP. You have a big job ahead of you to take on.

we need you back @ it...

right at the end of a NAB CUp game. dammit.

It wasn't his head that was injured, which means that the tribunal system won't be able to correctly assess the damage done. Head-high contact is dangerous (and is punished accordingly by the AFL) but serious injury can - and has - occured in other ways. There isn't sufficient allowance in the current system for dangerous, non-head high contact. Therefore, Butcher will not be punished as he should.

LOL at the penalties being dished out towards Butcher.

Let's take a look at the footage first before crucifying him.

And let's not use Trengove-Dangerfield as some sort of precedent. If the MRP used precedent, Trengove would never have had the 3 week penalty given in the first place.

Still don't know how it happened, six hours after I first asked. Surely someone saw the incident.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
