Little Lord Voldemort

Mods can delete this if they wish, but I'll post a story about little Tom.

That celebrity fatty show filmed a segment at GWS training, and Tommy was supposed to run at/through Dipper after a Dipper challenge, I'm told Tom "squibbed it", and Dipper proceeded to take the urine (in a jocular way) calling Tom a [censored] and such.

Tom completely cracked the shizzles and stormed off. He had to be apologized for.

I'm told sadly that won't go to air.

I wouldn't run through Dipper either, at any weight, but what a joyless little boy Tommy is.

Probably had flashbacks of bouncing off Phil in the back yard whenst trying to grab a sausage.

Well, I'll be battered on both sides!

Throughout the summer the media have been suggesting that GWS would make the AFL's highest paid infant at the very least a co-captain.

Suddenly, he's out of favour and others will get the gong -

GIANTS SET TO REJECT VOLDEMORT

I wonder why?

It's no mystery. The frontrunners for the captaincy according to Caroline Wilson are standouts for the leadership in a large group of mostly immature footballers.

Voldemort might have been an early contender but stories of his aloofness while at Melbourne and his public performance during those "dark cloud" days hardly indicate the qualities of credibility and integrity one expects of a leader.

The only attribute he has that might commend him for the position is a modicum of ability and an abundance of coin for the toss at the start of each game.

I am still surprised at the amount of money GWS have thrown at Scully. For that sort of dough, I expect any start up team would want a ready made leader (in addition to their playing ability), particularly given the ridiculous number of elite juniors they are able to get their hands on.

I suppose it serves to demonstrate how unattractive GWS was/is to the established, elite players in the competition.

As an aside, it's going to be weird watching Junior line up against us this year.

On behalf of one R Flower I would have run through and over Dipper with the greatest of pleasure. Im only a bit over a 100 kg and i might have bounced a litle but that would have been a pleasure !! lol

As to the Scully thing.. it doesnt actually surprise me. I dont think hes quite got the ticker ( real ticker) hes made out to have .. Playing kiddie ball is vastly different to mano a mano .

That certainly wouldnt have impressed the Martian Man ..... he hates a squibber. A big black mark would have gone down next to T.S.

Kharma !!!

I just watched the Port match in Darwin again. I don't know if it was a typical performance, but it looked like he didn't want to get scratched and other than taking a good mark he stuffed up almost every time he went near the ball. Of course he may turn out to be a great player, but it seems to me the $6M was driven more by PR and perhaps revenge by Sheedy than anything realistic.

If that story is right I would suggest that young Voldemort is held is lower esteem atm by his current teammates than by his former ones.

No chance of that being deleted DA, classic, wish I had been there. If I ever run into Dipper I'll ask him about it!

But unlike the other ex-Demon (that hurt), I will enjoy watching James get some of the footy.

I doubt McDonald will get many games. His body was starting to pack it in two seasons ago. Will be captain of the 2's at best.

I don't understand why the Giants have made him the highest paid player in the league. From what he has shown to date he isn't even close to being the best player from his draft.

Which means the Giants are paying him on potential. He is quick off the mark, can run all day and handballs well. But he is also small, only an adequate kick and not known for his marking ability.

Purely on potential, if I only could take one, i honestly don't know who i would choose out of him and Gysberts.

I am also guessing he is not a natural leader who others would rally behind.

We could do very well out of the compo picks

As I said, I don't get it.

Nice story. I never saw Tom "squib" it but I guess that satisfies everyones appetite to deride the little treacherous germ at every opportunity.

Let it go FFS, he's forgotten about us, some of you are carrying on like jaded ex lovers.

I had my first pre-season soccer training session last night. At the soccer club I was widely ridiculed at the start of last year for saying I would rather lose Tom Scully to GW$ than Jack Watts. Since then my steadfast defense of Jack Watts as a future superstar has become something of a running joke at the club. The boys love nothing better than winding me up about Jack.

Anyway, one of the boys at the club was involved in running the Cadbury super team promotion in blacktown last week, where 20 AFL stars ran a clinic for youngsters. Jack Watts was up there, as was Tom Scully. My mate is an avid North Melbourne fan and said he went there expecting Jack Watts to be a tool, but said Jack was an absolute ripping bloke and readily interacted with all the staff organizing the event. Tom on the other hand was aloof and barely spoke to any of the staff and came across as an arrogant nob, kept to himself and didnt really even interact much with the other players up there.

stop embarrassing yourselves guys by paying out Tom Scully. Seriously, stop trying to make yourselves feel better. He was a gun at Melbourne, and will be one of the best players in the AFL for the remaining 10 or so years of his playing career. It's no fluke that he was targeted specifically by GWS and offered him the most money in the AFL. no fluke.

Lets get over the loss and use the 2 inadequate "compensation" picks at next draft and hope to God that one of them is half as good as Tom Scully.

I love the payout on Tom. Makes me laugh. I'm not going to "get over it", nor do I want to. I'm going to nurture my bitter feelings toward our former player for at least his footy carreer. I'd advise if you are "over it" you'd best stay clear of threads like this one...

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
