Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - RORY TAGGERT

ooh sorry Dan, do you want it? I can add another.

Nah nah. Once it's off, it's anyone's property. :D just weird to see it. I had it for probably nearly 2 years. :D

As for the pick... I'm thinking of a Rohan Bail type deal here. Unheralded player, no-one knows anything about him... BP given a hard time... then he slots into the side.

Matt Burgan, who knows his stuff and sat in on our draft seminar:

"A genuinely great result for Melbourne - considering it got the players it targeted - and more. Having been fortunate to sit in the draft day seminar last week, I know Tynan was one player the recruiting team honed in on at No.36. There was a feeling he may not be there though in some respects. Taggert was also a player discussed at length - and he became a priority I believe. Again, we'll chat to Barry after the draft to get the exact details - because he is one who would truly know and be able to reveal the cards. But it seems the boys will be delighted with this outcome."

A Forward that can play mid or back.

Is this part of Neelds plan to be more defence orientated.

Tynan and Sellars are also defensive types.

It's not going to hurt to go a bit more defensive orientated,

But I also think that by bringing in some defensive half backs it will enable the likes of Tappy, Grimes and Blease to move up into the midfield with adequate cover in the backline playing that rebound role.

Or with there versatility be able to rotate them all through when required.

All about the pieces of the overall puzzle...

Rory wasn't even considered to be selected in the draft by many, does anyone know why we picked him above players like talia and grigg, both of whom were considered potentially high draft picks?

Rumour has it that Grigg is Mclean paced

We rated him higher than most? didnt want to risk not getting him at our next pick? didnt rate the players you mentioned?

I like the sound of the bloke, nobody thought Howe would go so high? i bet he would go higher if the draft was today though

I don't know much about him, but from the description I am happy.

He's a great size at 188cm as a midfielder. They appear to have backed themselves to turn Taggert's talent into production. Sounds like a big bodied, contested ball winning player that uses the ball well, that they are going to try to move into the midfield. I was looking through the potential draftees before the draft and was disappointed that there didn't seem to be many decent big midfielders in our pick range, so it's great to see that they found one.

At 36 in a shallow draft I'm happy that they are taking the talented player with a good attitude and backing themselves to turn him into a top line footballer in an AFL program. But time will tell.

What are those guys? If Talia was really well regarded wouldn't someone have grabbed him pretty early in a weak draft, and if Grigg was any good why did he slip so low in terms of midfielders. Look at all the vanilla midfielders in this draft and ask me how they will compete when they come against Collingwood or Geelong or even Richmond for that sake. Sure they might not do much wrong but where is their point of difference.

Where does Taggerd rate in terms of his type of player - strong, big body, ability to mark and kick goals, good kick and good agility. I'd say he was in the top few of that type of player taken in the draft and has great upside.

Same goes for Tynan, sure he might not be anything special and maybe we could have got a dime a dozen midfielder or a tall with some more potential, but if there is ever a position that lends itself to solid players its the half back flank. If he's got the physical tools and is coachable he can be a huge success quickly.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
