Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Neeld pours heat on Demons

Davey's form in 2011 was fairly disrespectful to me as a paid up member. If he doesn't learn to beat his opponent (shake his tag) i fully expect him to play for casey. Neeld was not being disrespectful, just setting the standard for all to see.

I don't think Neeld was saying his role was to beat a tag.

I think he will be given a specific role; as a forward pocket at the feet of Clark with responsibility for the forward press, a HBF role with an emphasis on both defence and attack, or as a high flanking role similar to what Sylvia does but without the marking ie. get to contests and move out the back or get the hands off.

He seems to have lost all confidence when given an undefined role to 'get the footy' in the middle and he needs to get back to what he did in 2010 and then move into what he did in 2009.

Looking forward to the effect the new coaching group will have on all the players but especially our senior players like Davey.

It seems as though our Jacky boy (and others) have taken it all to heart. Nath Jones on his site:

"Wednesday was by far the biggest session, with hard running and skills followed by an afternoon circuit session. It left most of us feeling like cement afterwards and no doubt all the boys slept like babies."

"In the gym, the boys really pushed themselves. I’m in group 2 of the weights and what a group it is. BOG for me in the gym was Jack Watts, Ricky Pettard and Jamie Bennell. They really took to shifting steel and worked extra hard."..

Good to see fellas!!

Just one minor point, that was posted in November 2010 :-)

i was speaking more about Aaron's attitude on the park. Big $$$ or not, if it doesn't improve he can expect to be a scorps reguliar.

I just feel that as a society we are all developing this "cotton wool" mentality. As a supporter we have said year after year, "Next season," "next season," "this is our year!" I am so over this! I want it to be our year. I feel that as supporters we have learned to accept the mediocrity of our team and just laying our hopes on the next season. However, for far to long at the MFC the players have been wrapped in cotton wool and rather training to be elite athletes they have focused on trying to make sure no ones feelings get hurt. Now, even myself as a long time Dee's fan, was beginning to think it'll never happen because the players don't have the attitude. But in comes a new coach with a full on new direction and I believe even some supporters don't know how to handle it because we are use to sitting there listening to dribble and going okay, maybe next season. So I don't think we know what to expect, there is now all this unknown potential, but I think some supporters are still resorting to old habits because we don't want to get too excited. But come on, it's time the MFC stepped up to the elite, it's what we need and I have no doubt that we are going to see a change in attitude. Also, Neeld came out and said that he'd spoken one on one to the boys and so whatever he said in the media would have come at no surprise to any of them. I want to see a fit, fiery and elite team run onto the MCG next season, don't you?

Edit: Spelling

If Neeld is pissing the boys off left right and center it wont be a good thing for the morrale of the group or our on field performance. Just like Gary Lyon said after the sacking of Bailey, the guys need to enjoy their footy...

Where the hell is the evidence that he's pissing the boys off left right and center? Especially given that all their public utterances have been completely the opposite. e.g. Trengove's tweet today:

"Massive session today. I have a feeling we are going to be some fit blokes come xmas! The boys are flying and loving the whole new set up!"

Anyone who thinks hurt feelings mean jack is obviously never going to be a part of a successful us-vs-them environment. I liken sport to war, in that you develop an absolute brotherhood against the world - a team of fighters under the command of a select few who they may not like, but who they damn well respect. Mark Neeld is making these Demons salty, so that when the time comes, they will be ready to eat their own guts and ask for seconds.

Get on or get off.

of course they are, but there is a right and wrong way to deal with things. You dont hear the PM coming out and naming which ministers arent doing their job to the level she would like. Thats for behind closed doors IMO. I dont think being hard and driven is muturally inclusive with being a [censored]?! The comment about Davey/Casey fans didnt need to be said in public. Respect is a two way street. Its pretty disrespectful IMO for a new coach to make such a statement about a player who has served the club well for as long as Aaron.

Politics is all about perceptions then results, perceptions can be percieved truth or actual truth.

Football is about results, results are achieved when dealing with truths. They are very different games.

What has been said about Aaron, that he will find himself in the twos if he doesn't perform to team principles? I should hope so. I would find any statement to the contrary offensive as a member.

The coach calls us into the centre of the ground and we form a half circle around him. You're standing next to your teammates, who are closer to you than brothers; bonded by time, pain, humiliation, by triumphs. And you love every one of them in their common humanity. They were the kids you would have loved to have had living next door, but you weren't so lucky. You would have kicked end-to-end to your heart's content, then.

In one season we seem to have gone from a coach that could have been a leading cast member in My Three Sons to a coach that could have easily starred in Schindlers list. Maybe we should have gone for the middle ground, someone a bit like Alan Jeans. But what do I know ....Absolutely Nothing !

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
