Given the Sports Science credentials of Mission Id be surpised now as to what role if any Craig could fulfil ?

Hang on to your hats people ...

his blue collar desperation and desire to get his hands dirty and get in and under...

The clean-out has started.

Neeld isn't pulling any punches!

big changes at the MFC

exciting times ahead!

"find the best".

We need a fresh start.

I say clean them all out, i like this new cut throat coach.

The season of change is upon the MFC (clear winner)

get rid of this boys club mentality

Well, a week's a long time in football, but apparently not on this site. We've managed 11 meaningless cliches in 22 posts. That's an efficiency higher than that of our midfield's disposal in 2011. Hopefully they'll take our lead!

I'm loving the proactive approach. As Dylan and PP&M said in their 1960's chart-topper, 'the times they are a changin', and who knows, our beloved Demons might again be 'chart-toppers', and sooner than we think. For those who believe in omens, the hit single was first released in 1964!

Well you can't teach an old demonlander new tricks, and your really are only as good as your last post. So I just hope posters do not rest on their laurels and start keeping it real so they can take it to the next level.

MELBOURNE has appointed the highly-credentialed David Misson to the role of fitness manager.

Misson, regarded as one of Australia’s best and most versatile fitness coaches, comes to Melbourne following a four-year stint at St Kilda, where he was elite performance manager.

So who is this guy is he any good ? your thoughts !!

Posted

This new guy is the one who sorted out all the osteitis/hammy problems for the Saints in the pre- season .I like Neelds keen eye for a poach .

Posted

Is this the cleanout we needed to have? We're getting rid of not just Bailey people, but also Daniher people and Neeld seems to be attempting to bring about a cultural change in the backroom of the MFC.

Thoughts?

I can't believe people wanted West to stay!

Our midfield was completely inept all year.

(But I know some people around here think you can't blame coaches  )

Posted

Needed? Not at all.

Losing by 186, finished 13th, lost to port and Richmond, no progression in the midfield, backline went backwards... nah, we were going along swimmingly.

The axe is swinging, and we should see a whole new brand of footy at the MFC next season. I have no idea what to expect. Time to sit back and watch it all unfold.

I agree the rumours regarding this seem strange if we have just secured a highly-credentialed "elite performance manager" Also why would Neeld want another ex-Senior coach looking over his shoulder so to speak.

I think that the rumour started prior to the new coaches appointment and they may be rethinking this move because what we have heard of Neeld is that he has very strong views on how things will be run in regards to the Football Department.

I also agree that its time for Chris Connolly to move on.

Posted

I'm also concerned about the rumours of Craig's role - director of coaching (haven't we seen Collingwood have no idea what to do with one of them) and input into fitness/sports science (Misson's role). I want Craig as he is experienced and a well regarded, but I wonder where he is best suited, both in the industry and in within the football club.

My thoughts too

Start with a new bunch of coaches....The players will respond better.

Todd Viney stays. The rest...Thanks & good Luck.

WYL ,you are a very kind man .Dude

I agree, & I can see the Axe is coming down from a Full Swing.

Lets look see where this will end with the List?

And Captaincy? I can see a 4 Yr plan Unfolding. We have the young talent, save for a couple of spots that may, or may not be on the list.

Wow. He's hitting the ground running. I think a few players will need to be looking over their shoulders if this keeps up.

It is interesting to see who has been moved on. A few days ago we had one of our club officials (Lyon?) say that we wouldn't want to loose all of the learning and experience we've put into the coaching group, so if we've gotten rid of these ones it would appear to strengthen the position of those who remain. Personally, I'm really hoping to see the back of both Mahoney and Royal as well, but I suspect at least one of them will remain with us.

"Given the recent appointment of a new senior coach, it was determined that he needed the opportunity to bring in his own people - as Scott was out of contract, a hard decision had to be made."

Got me wondering if Neeld already has people in mind? Malthouse and/or Burns maybe? Extremely interested in seeing who fills these positions.

Ok im excited.. but i have to wait until round 1 damn!!!

2012 can't come quick enough, hey? The unknown factor is really exciting and I am pretty optimistic about actually becoming a good team again soon.

I dont get all the hate for Mahoney? this guy got our forward line to be one of is not "the" most efficient in the league, we had limited supply and when it went in it was turned into a score many times.

Secondly West, so much love for the guy, he was an amazing player, but our midfield stunk imo, i know alot of the players are young buut we were seriously doing some shocking things, and plenty of times just didnt look like we worked hard enough, particularly around stoppages, something this guy should have been ontop of...

And finally the new guy, sounds amazing, involved with the Sydney Premierships, chased previously by Carlton, ect really really happy

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
