Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He's a ripper. My favourite player, as you may be able to tell from my avatar.

The best forward Melbourne has had since Neitz, and one of the best in the comp. Any club who played their best defender on Jesse Hogan last year when they had a chance to put him on McDonald had no idea. It's going to be a challenge this year when every club sends their best to Tommy right from the outset; but one of the best things about him is his running ability. He gets up and down the ground so much that very few defenders can handle both aspects of his game.

Goes alright kicking for goal too.

Agree 100%. He was criminally underrated last year and look how many goals he kicked after a late start to the year. He will be regarded as one of the best key forwards in the comp if he finds that next level next year.

Tommy Mac now has that inbuilt confidence in his abilities to speak to the gallery for 9+ minutes and displays some pleasing leadership insights and knowledge of the team around him and his importance in the forward line structure. Really pleasing to see him step up to be the player that we all hoped that he would be.

Well done TMac.................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!☺️

He is articulate and informed. His foci relate well to the MFC journey and its personalities and aptitudes. He'd make a great captain and all would listen to him.

Just caught the whole interview on Youtube.

Future Captain i can see

TMac wants to win serious games...

The Weid must step up this year...

Agreed. Sitting there nicely in the wings as a future leader, but whilst there will be some expectation on the Weid our leadership is in the midfield.

Wouldn’t be surprised if more expectation of consistency and improvement  in that area will be required. ( Refer the StKilda game .That game still eats at me. Yes I realise Viney was ok in the second half)

I am not pushing the Weid to be a leader, unless it comes natural. But we need him to play influential games next season. He can play, but now the opponents have seen him in action.

His confidence and learning ability are crucial next year.

T Mac was one of the few that could keep up with Nick Riewoldt when he was up and about.  Nice to see the tables turned a bit on his role/position.

You seem easily offended.

I agree with the comment. I’d have tmac over Jesse 10 out of 10 times.

That's the thing Smokey, you don't have to make that choice, he's gone. I have no problem heaping praise on TMac - I just don't see the need to denigrate someone who did his best for us but who has left our club.

Is this a different spying tactic?

It would be a very Brad Scott move to spy on a publicly recorded media conference.

To suggest comparing two players and having a preference between the two is denigrating Is pretty dramatic mate. They are footy players, we are allowed to have opinions on them,

I think Preuss will play in most of the early season H&A games, taking much pressure away from Weide, and also TMc, as well.

Pressure will be on our smalls to feed at their feet...  inc Jeffy.  time to put up, or .........

This will expose young Bradtke early on at Casey, to take the ruck mantle...   but I think around 1/3 season,  one of our talls will get some rest time at Casey, to freshen-up.

McDonald good name for a captain. Super impressive interview, wouldn't mind if he was made captain, probably sense in it being a midfielder though. Jones, Viney, McDonald, Gawn we are not short of leaders.

Why do you keep using that word? No one here has a problem with Jesse personally. No one is ‘denigrating’ him. No personal insults thrown, only an assessment of football abilities. Telling us we can’t be critical of a football player simply because he once wore our guernsey is simply ridiculous. How somebody finds the phrase “better player than hogan ever was” offensive really is a sign of the times isn’t it. God, you can’t even compare players against each other anymore according to some. You don’t need to get upset on jesse’s behalf unless he has asked you to do so. Guessing he hasn’t.

You also have a choice in whether you go out of your way to get offended at something and make it out to be something it’s not.

This is one of the main reasons I want to see interchange rotations reduced. In the current game, Tom isn't going to have to outrun one defender. He will have multiple defenders each having some time on him. If interchange rotations reduce further, clubs will use the bench primarily for onballers leaving key defenders and forwards one-on-one for more of each game. It's something previously raised by Nick Reiwoldt and I think he has a very valid point.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
