Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

No White for MFC Clash Jumpers for Season 2018

Recommended Posts

So West Coast have launched their 2018 jumpers, going back to their 'traditional' royal blue and surprise surprise, a yellow and royal blue clash jumper with no white.

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/west-coast-eagles-reveal-new-logo-and-jumpers-for-2018-afl-season-new-jumpers-for-saints-magpies/news-story/3e3e7101110249d44b60569046df28ff

So are the MFC and AFL going to continue to serve up this rubbish that all clubs must have a predominantly white clash jumper and make our team run around in one for half a dozen+ games a year?

Will MFC suporters continue to allow this?

There is no doubt the AFL will force us to wear a White “Clash” strip, which will make us clash with other jumpers far more than we do now.

(Personally i don’t think we clash with anybody)

But the AFL have to force their rules down our throat...

they love Power and Dill has to justify his wage...

We don’t clash with anyone however the white makes us clash with St Kilda.

Why do we need an away jumper?

In the old days it was black and white shorts (and those were the days when a mud patch in the centre and in front of goals ensured both teams had black shorts at the end)!

These days there is no such problem (plus we have red socks as well)!

I don't know why we can't have a predominantly red strip as our clash strip.

It all about Essendon, we don't play home games against them because their clash jumper really isn't a clash jumper and me a small club that is bullied by the AFL to have a white jumper because the AFL don't have the courage to upset Essendon, same as Collingwood at least they have tried to this year and I think that is more on the back off Richmond having great success both on and off field with the Yellow clash strip

Could not give a toss what colour or clash jumpers are. Its just such a non-issue.

I care more how we play the game, how many wins we will have and if we are going to make the finals.

You definately work inside AFL House...

The white jumper doesn't really bother me.

What bothers me is the outright hypocrisy of it all. The only "clash" is with Essendon...if you're blind and can't differentiate between black and dark navy blue.

I think every team should just have one alternate away strip for away games. Switch the colours around like Essendon and Richmond do.

Why we need two clash jumpers is beyond me.

Pretty sure someone was posting here a few weeks ago claiming that our clash jumper won't be white.  Didn't give it away, but I got the feeling it would be a red jumper with a blue v (opposite to our traditional strip).

Can't remember who is was, but I think they post here a bit.

How about a question mark in the title? I read it and was hopeful it had been given the boot. Bring back the disco blue.

Ironic failure to include question mark

I posted this in another thread, but I can tell you, I was given info from a person connected to the MFC that suggested that the White clash while be done away with and that the new clash jumper will be "as traditional as it could be'. Make of that what you will. I pushed the guy for more details or for a release date, but he was tight lipped...which is fair enough. Based on what he told me, I am excited to see the design.

This.

If I was the AFL, I wouldn't want as many white clash jumpers. I can understand teams that have white as a main colour using a white clash jumper but one of the great attractions of the game is the bright and colourful jumpers.

It's taken them a long time but West Coast now realise this and have an yellow clash, Richmond's yellow clash is great and Adelaide's was excellent this year (sadly they are going back to white next year).

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
