Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Caroline Wilson of The Age:

Essendonin crisis as players named in banned drugs inquiry.

"The Sunday Age has chosen not to name the 14 players."

''The club has received information that the Herald Sun is going to name players based on information within an interim and incomplete report."

Basically "We won't name the Essendon players because it's unethical, but you can totally find out the names if you check out this other newspaper". How does she sleep at night? Better to say "we won't name the players" and leave it at that. To then say exactly where to find them (not that's hard) is just appallingly hypocritical.

Then the HUN:

Thirteen months after the drugs in sport scandal broke 12 AFL players including Essendon stars still looking for closure

Names included for all to see.

What a joke.

Whether you agree or disagree with the the HUN disclosing the names, Caro's not so subtle breadcrumb is pretty distasteful.

This is a ridiculous piece of criticism. Had Wilson not identified where the players were going to be named, you'd be crucifying her for withholding information relevant to the story. And it IS relevant to the story, whether you like it or not.

Wilson's not the only one to have identified the Herald Sun as the source of publication. What about AAP, among others.

Would you really prefer ALL journalists reporting on this story to NOT mention where the players' names were revealed? If so, you have no idea what poor journalism is.

Spot on.

Funny though isn't it - with the Hun now turning on the bombers.

You want a real example of pathetic hypocritical journalism try Yobbos 'editorial' in today's Hun.

Yobbo writes:

' It is desperately unfair.

The players will be devastated.

They spoke to ASADA/ AFL on the promise of confidentiality. They were then named in an interim report a confidential document that the AFL demanded from ASADA ahead of the 2013 AFL finals.'

This is an column right next a two page spread of photos of all 12 players named and an article listing all of the drugs and supplements ASADA have alleged the EFC used in the supplement and drug program.

Unbelievable.

What suprises me is it is not the other way around.

I would have thought Wilson would be the one naming. But there you go.

Robinson is in deep water now. Hope he knows how to swim.

too hard to swim in whats he's in, he better hope he can wade well. & not slip up in that poo.

Either way its hard to believe he could have the front to actually write such an obviously hypocritical, contradictory piece. The players will be devastated? Well, obviously only now that their names have been blared out to he public.

Captain obvious he is. But once the graphics Department went to town on the photos i doubt he had much choice.

Quite humourous it was!!

I love that the Essendon players 'allegedly' used Vitamin D and over-the-counter vitamin supplements.

I wonder how many of the items on the beat-up list at the bottom of the Hun's article are just as innocuous.

24 hours ago I was quite comfortable with an 'Essendon can get stuffed' position, but after this round of irresponsible gutter press, yet another, I'm leaning towards being more protective of the players. Sigh.

Always glad to see Essendon suffer.

But I feel for the players who have their names publicised. That is just plain wrong. Modern journalism strikes another nail into the coffin of public information and integrity. They hide behind the ethos of "publicly beneficial information" when the names of the players is simply not for the public's benefit, and the story does not require names for the story to be told.

One good thing coming out of this today is that I now know that Mark Robinson identifies himself as "Man of the People".

What a joke. Man of the people who hang out in Napier Street Essendon maybe, but that's about it.

Although looking at his shockingly rough head you could be forgiven for thinking he's got some gummy shark DNA in there somewhere so perhaps he just needs to assert his human DNA after all.

That list has been copy pasted from the interim report. AOD isnt the only illegal one there. One of them is extract of pigs brain ffs.

explains the epidemic at Essendon in telling porkies !!

That HUN article is hilarious. I always like reading a journalist's attempt/s to write about molecular science - so idiotic yet written with confidence.

I rather like the list of supplements named at the bottom with the addition of their performance enhancing effects. Some of my favorites were "amino acids" (the building blocks of protein), "arginine" (which is an amino acid), and finally "protein". Bum bum baaaa....

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
