  1. As a physio myself, I know the feeling of this sort of stuff. Sometimes you have a minor niggle that just keeps on keeping on. From the outside a minor hammy like that looks like a standard 3 weeker (which it is for 90%) but for some, every time you try and grade them up in the program they get sore, or can’t get to top speed, or just keep feeling the hamstring at not 100%. I know it’s popular to make something bigger than it is, which is fair enough given Clarry’s importance to our team. But from my view it seems like he lost all fitness from his infection, has rebuilt that which added another couple of weeks, and is perfectly fine for going on a run with friends around the block but still can’t hit that full pace there. It’s also definitely the hardest phase to rehab. fingers crossed for next week!

  3. He is just frustrated. He wants to play but his body is holding him back. He knows the club is under huge pressure and he wants to help. Selwyn is just trying to keep him calm. I don’t know why anyone else can’t see that. He is only human.

  4. It’s not a poor look at all. I’ll bet my old jeans Oliver wants to keep training and play and he’s being told he can’t. Surely 2 professionals can have a heated discussion or do we now live in a world where raising your voice is no go.

  5. I actually love the footage of Oliver and Selwyn, he’s passionate and he cares

  7. If you know there are other personal issues (no need to tell us what they are) that comment is fine. If you are assuming there are other personal issues that comment will spark another round of rumours about Oliver. There are more than enough out there and we don't need any more. So could you please clarify and perhaps edit that post and the earlier one about him being 'definitely unwell' to clarify if they are based on assumptions.

  8. He'll start in defensive 50, then run through the center, before moving across half forward and kicking a goal.

  9. He’s playing to win Premiership’s, he knows the team is better placed with him in it. He’s frustrated and 2 adults can surely have a solid discussion about the situation. Jeez, I have them with folks all the time.

  12. We have no idea about Oliver’s injury or what extent the infection hampered recovery. Let’s stop pot shotting the club as it’s highly unlikely it’s to do with mismanagement

  13. The club needs to come out at some point and give us the full story, because this entire episode is completely unacceptable for a supposedly professional sporting club. Firstly, allowing Oliver to play on after the initial injury. Then, allowing an infection to get bad enough to result in a lengthy hospital stay, having him train in the cold and wet after the Geelong game, taking him to Alice Springs for no reason, and every other ill advised training session he has done in the past 7 weeks. Finally, the lack of meaningful updates that resulted in the ridiculous rumours that circulated a few weeks ago. Goodwin needs to shut up and stop saying every Monday that he is a chance to play this week, before he is then ruled out two days later. It reflects badly on him and the club.

  19. Fantastic news. Taj has been on the cusp of selection for a while now. Great he gets his chance after a strong line of performances in the VFL. Best of luck to the kid and hope he gives fans something to get excited about like his old man did back in the day!

  20. You keep on ignoring the fact that in the middle of all that he spent a week immobile in hospital.

  21. With respect, Clarrie is the last person who should have a say in it. If it was up to him he wouldn’t have missed a single game.

  22. Morons will be morons regardless of what is or isn’t disclosed. Personally, I’m happy (as well as amazed) that the Club manages to successfully keep things under wraps. Quite often family and friends aren’t given full details and oftentimes the player in question isn’t told everything. While this frustrates supporters the benefits of secrecy far outweigh anything else.

  23. The look of the dialogue between Clarry and Selwyn was not a good look. I understand Oliver's side of frustration and seemingly "pushing" to keep at it. It is Selwyn with his hand out, the agitation and walking away and returning, that I have the problem with. He need's to remain calm and be seen to give feedback that is calculated and delivered in a way that brings the best out of Clarry. As with all the MFC coaches and staff, "get the best out of the squad", should be the mantra. Maybe Selwyn knows Clarry well, and that is the approach that is best for him. Just, doesn't look like it.

  24. I don't expect any info from the club. Let's be clear your posts about Oliver are opinions and not based on any knowledge. Its best to say that from the beginning.

  26. Their despondency is matched only by ours on bf and on our very own on D’land! We will get absolutely smashed next week. Highly doubt it. Dees coming back from a slog in Alice Springs, it’s at Marvel, and their form has generally also been far from convincing. Reckon we'll beat the Dees. Can't show up to a game against division 4 bush league footballers but will turn it on against a top four side. We're bipolar, it's in our nature. Saints by 27 I can't see it happening, mate, but that would outstanding. Yes, it would be a very St Kilda type of thing Gawn and Grundy will work Marshall over. Their midfield will have an absolute day out against Crouch and the Witches Hats. May and Lever will take a billion marks between them. Demóns by heaps. Melbourne will be a class above. Dees by 35 We almost certainly be 4th if we win… if Collingwood beat WB, we’ll be 4th and a win clear of 5th! Could be the worst top 4 team at this stage of a season ever! 💪 We need to do something different up forward. May and Lever are going to have a field day if go out with the same set up we've been sticking too that we know doesn't work and only leads to opposition defenders dominating. If you have a quick read of their preview thread, the sky is falling and all hope is lost for them as well. You’d think the two teams were 4th and 5th bottom: We’re gonna win this and lose to suns the week after… literal lock. Stroll in the park for Melbourne. May to get 25 intercept marks and 300 supercoach. Couldn't get on fast enough for a demons bet. Melbourne may be struggling to score/kick straight, but they seem to be doing almost everything else pretty well. Their rucks and mids will be too much for us alone I fear. I would be pretty surprised if we don't lose this by 30+ points. We have lost all run and dare...they are going to absolute torch us through the middle and our defensive unit has been very ordinary of late. Unless they kick 5.25 we are not winning this game Just our luck the media get stuck into Melbourne before we play them! We are going to get destroyed here if we can't find a spark on the track this week. Melbourne by 60+ Melbourne is the only team we haven't beaten since 2019. As it'll be under a roof instead in all liklihood, Dees by 47 and May to both look like he sucked on a lemon in disgust on his way to the same amount of intercepts and us to maybe kick 10 goals, maybe. No idea what this is about but gave me a good laugh: You're forgetting to factor in the Dougal pirouette. It's like a boxer that has no skill but insane KO power. If it lands, we're in business. Could not believe my (piercing blue) eyes when he attempted another. Leave-without-pay type operator. There was a moment in the 4th where he picked the ball up inside our 50, without anyone on him (maybe an Eagles player 15m away directly infront of him) and instead of shifting his body from front-on to the Eagles player to the right of the Eagles player so he could get the kick away, he instead spun around on the spot and then as he turned back around, went to the right. Literally sat there and said 'What the *??'. He's incredible. Favourites: A round 17 clash between 4th and 5th on the ladder and both Melbourne and St.Kilda fans couldn't be any more pessimistic. I'm sorry Melbourne, but we're going to lose harder then you! You guys need to step up your game, the woe and despair in here is a pale comparison to the Demons board at the moment. We should take care of their form slump for them. They should start paying us to return teams to form. The dees poor kicking have made a mess of my predictions lately but will go out on a limb one more time: Dees by 3 goals! One thing is for sure; with two very defensive coaches this will be a dour game to watch☹️.

  30. You two are doctors/physios? No? Then perhaps re-think posts like this.

  31. My point is Clarrie would absolutely say he was fine, you could put the farm on it. Therefore his estimation of his return date counts for zero. Maybe because of the class of player he is, it’s easy to forget he’s human. Just as they all are. No player is happy to be ruled not fit to play, but some take it harder than others. From what I know I’d say we have the top two players on the list of Players who don’t do being on the sidelines well currently on the sidelines. Whereas one of them is reticent about his plight, the other is an open book.

  32. Are you serious? I literally thought the only upside of this was that it would put an end to the rumours. So what now, our head of fitness is essentially acting out a pantomime for the press, with our star player, to throw people off the scent? He can’t execute what our fitness department need. That’s literally what you can see first hand. He’s frustrated and heartbroken. That people turn it into anything else is a sad indictment on the state of social media.

  33. Me too. But I have no idea what he’s not doing well. He’s been as productive in front of goal as any of our other forwards. He kicks well, he competes well. Without Fritsch I would have thought JVR would be the perfect replacement. I have no idea where our goals are going to come from.

  36. No they dont. Please feel free to tell us your medical history media allowed in for warm up to get some shots and then asked to leave after that

  37. Firstly that discussion should be had behind closed doors Secondly, it takes nothing away from the fact that he’s missed two months of football with a reported regulation hamstring.
    7 points
  38. So you think that an incredibly fit and diligent footballer who is not old, and has no history of soft tissue injuries, should miss 50 days for a minor hamstring strain? Either the original diagnosis is wrong or the management is flawed. And if it’s neither of those things, then I am curious to know what it is.

  43. That's 11/13 years ago !!! Doesn't change his ability to read and summarise a game. You are a RJay clone with no idea of footy tactics or basics Gary has been involved for over 20 years and his summary was 100 % perfect. Hope our dumb Coaches and footy players were listening. Trouble is Goody is so stubborn he can't see any changes till far too late! Refer Petty vsLions in last quarter of Semi going forward with 5/6 mins left!!! Refer Petty played a good half before injury vs Hawks as CHF Now this has been abandoned even after Tommo played a magnificent game vs Pies. Why ffs!!!???? He had Kossie in the middle earlier in season with some success but no longer now Why not again ???? Goody still persisting with same forwards/mids who are a shadow of themselves of 2021 ie Harmes ANB and Spargo and Chin is in need of a Casey call up like JVR Also seems incapable of getting Stafford to produce another forward plan involving other players Like last year persisting too long with failure. At least Taj and Howes have been consistently good for a few matches try them. Disco is prob another but the defence is not the issue refer though to my comments re Petty and Tommo. We do not help ourselves really making dumb on field and off field decisions or in this case no decisions at all or forgetting some previous ideas which had some merit.

  44. Yes, that was frustrating as all hell. But you don’t blame an individual for “costing us the game” because that particular individual made an error in the dying minutes of the match. Games are won or lost over four quarters of football.

  45. Who said it isn’t an important bone? I know I didn’t. I said it was a very small bone; small as in physical size, not as in importance. Besides, I’m sure every bone in one’s foot is important. You get a tiny fracture in one of them and they’ll remind you of how important they are with every step you take. 😭

  46. All will go well, probably better and sooner than expected. The surgery went as well as was hoped for and Fritta has this incredible healing ability. It runs in their family. He’s in really good spirits and that’s always a good thing. He should be ready for finals. Incidentally, he did what I did in December at our AFLW B&F... Rolled his left ankle which caused a small fracture in a bone in his foot. That’s where the similarity ends. He didn’t do it running in platform sandals on uneven ground while drunk, and I’m not an elite AFL footballer. 😁
