As an extension of the deathride I now find myself cheering for not only Freo's opponent but also all of the teams below Freo on the ladder who have a chance to overtake them. C'mon the Giants and Blues today.12 points

Just had a look at the Collingwood training thread on Bigfooty forum. - Elliott didn’t do match sim and apparently said to supporters that’s he’s not playing. - McStay didn’t do match sim either. - McCreey a solid chance to play. - Cox trained well despite COVID rumours. - J Daicos didn’t train due to illness.12 points

They are set up, just waiting for the players. The wingers are first out. Gus, Langdon, Hunter, Woewodin, JJ. Next, travelling by himself Grundy. The group follows, Lever, Max, Tomlinson, May, Spargo, Pickett, JVR, Fritta, J.Smith, ANB, Chandler, Viney, Rivers, McVee, Pettracca, Sparrow, Hibberd and Salem. Broken into their lines. Gus is with the mids, as is Woey and JJ. Max is with the fwds. Grundy's brother has jumped the fence and giving him some "pointers" as he lines up for goal kicking. Two other family members are also down here for support.10 points

It's unbelievable how many posts in this thread are about who will or won't play for Collingwood. WGAF. Two years ago we lost to them and they had about 6 of their star players out up in Sydney.. This game will come down to our pressure, ability to execute the fundamentals consistently most of the game and ability to win contests all over the ground. Regardless of who is in or out. We owe this feral club a beating. And it will all depend on what mindset we bring to the game. They are not invincible, but I trust their ability to perform more than us atm like most do. But it will have nothing to do with outs. Port beat us with a VFL level forward line by bringing a mindset and application all game. Hawthorn the same against Brisbane. Completely in our hands.9 points

No mcstay. That's good. I know he'd be underdone but we've struggled against mutiple talls, most notably against the bombers. Cox and Cameron will split ruck and forward- and both push forward at times - mihocek plays tall, as does Johnson, so a fit mcstay would stretch us. I'll be curious who tomo plays on. Cameron and Cox? Mihocek is brilliant one on one and tomo isn't. But I wouldn't mind seeing tomo take mihocek. Similar size, and mihocek gets on his bike, which suits tomo more than wrestling with Cox and Cameron 30 mertres our from goal. May is s much better option for the two rucks. If petty, who we are really missing, plays forward when he returns after the bye, there's a spot for tomo down back. Love to seem him take it. He is moving more like he did before his knee, much more agile than last season, has a great tank and is a lovely field kick. So he has a good shot at it.9 points

100% If he finds his early 2021 form, it not only gives him a chance to get the flag he is after, it solves many of our problems as it will allow Petty to play forward. It really makes us a better side if he can fill that second tall role and allow Lever to play third tall interceptor.9 points
-
Assuming Adam Tomlinson plays tomorrow - Hibberd for Bowey the change, he has a great opportunity to establish himself with May and Lever and put himself in the frame for an elusive flag. He has the trial by fire with McKay, Cox/Mihocek then Hawkins/Cameron but if he can weather the storm then he can put MFC and himself in a great position.9 points

@binman interested as to why you think Brisbane have shown running power all season. Statistically, they are at the bottom of running power and have only outrun Essendon this year. My guess is it’s why they struggle at the G. Also, the Hawks are actually a good running team and are the only team to match us in total distance and high speed distance this year. They are inconsistent like any young team though. So it’s probably not a surprise the hawks, despite being near the bottom, have beaten the Lions, who have been pushing for top 4, each of the last 3 years at the G. You could argue it cost the Lions a top 4 spot last year. It may cost them again this year.8 points

We won’t and should not debut a kid as the sub. Especially the son of a former champion. It’s just not right.7 points
-
You'd think if Woey was in as a sub, there would be a bit more of a build up. I imagine his dad would be presenting the jersey, or at least hanging around the club. JJ as sub, Woey as emergency.7 points

Not sure the negativity about Jefferson, it's his first year... There is no rush to get him into seniors.7 points

I might start every post until say round 16 with this quote: 'Too many people get caught up in the immediacy of results, but winning a premiership is the execution of a long-term plan, rather than a reaction to a win or a loss.'7 points
-
Have watched him play a fair bit this year and while he has kicked a few goals, he drops a lot of marks, has no recovery now, applies no forward pressure, sulks a lot and admonishes team mates. That doesn’t fit our culture, so I can’t see us considering him.7 points

Sicily sent straight to Tribunal. That usually means minimum 3 weeks. I thought he would be unlucky to get 1 week. What the hell is going on ? He was on ground and pulled McCluggage down into him and then another player came in and they rolled over. How is that a suspension at all? Cornes is correct, no one knows what is going on in the game.5 points

Love this quote: "Coach Simon Goodwin is letting this team play different styles for minutes, quarters and full matches." The author has clearly recognised that we've been experimenting tactically this year. Also this: "They’re ranked third for marks inside 50s..." Combined with being the second highest scoring team for the season, it really makes it hard to understand people who are calling the forward line a disaster.5 points

How are they going to use it though? The Collingwood players know in their heart that it's true.5 points

If any Collingwood player have had the flu/covid and play they will fall in a hole in the second half of the game. Seen it before with teams including our own many years ago. The Pies also played in WA last weekend and are they have had an extra couple of days to get over it, but The Bomber are the only team to win after that trip this year and they just fell in. I am expecting us to run them off their legs in the second half.5 points

Next month is big for us here; GWS and WB away, and ESS and Carl at home. Would love to be 7 and 9 and ready for the season to be ended by Coll away. C’mon lads! You can’t do it! I don’t believe in you! We are not Marshall! This is ATHENS! (You get that if you know Greek history and the movie 300 - it’s gold I assure you)5 points

Surely it’s the players who trained with Woey as carryover. JJ and Hibbo in for Harmes and Bowey.4 points

Good question. Pies players are probably still waiting for their Telehealth consultations.4 points

They had a mature key forward who kicked 5. We looked like midgets. Killed in the air. Couldn’t kick straight at any stage. Best player for Pies, N.Jetta.4 points
-
Yep and we have Oliver, Petty, Tom Mac, BBB and Bowey. I would say we have more important players out, our best mid and all 3 experienced key forwards.4 points

I dont care how they sell it.... how they package it.... The scoreboard will show a win....and a win is 4pts. That's all we need to concern ourselves with. Everything else is irrelevant. 4pts to us is 4pts not to them.. Finito Go Dees4 points

Vic Metro far too good for SA and have a big lead at 3QT with Brown putting in a very good contribution. Levi Ashcroft is a quality player and a likely #1 for next year - will go as a F/S to Brisbane.4 points

Fantastic.... still think he was / is good enough for AFL or should have been given the opp if he wanted it. Maybe some issues with pace but just speculation and who am i to judge anyway. Reckon he'd be right with Clarry & Viney in terms of G&T, white line fevour and never say die attitude. Love the niggle too. Onya Moose. Go get em son! Great to see Dunstan back too. Bad timing for him with the injury as that might have been a rare chance to come in for Clarry foregone. P.S. Sestan has some learnings & may need an extra pre-season for a bigger tank but love what he's bringing in small doses so far. Seems naturally gifted with a good footy brain. Could make a brute of a medium HF as well as a bit of time in the middle if he makes it.4 points

When you say "officially", do you mean the club, or you, saying that? Agree with another key forward in the draft/trade period and have been posting it for a while now. If BBB retires and maybe even Tom Mac as well, we should be looking to bring in a mature key forward and draft another one as well.4 points
