  1. I finally made the move and got a Kayo subscription. Watched the game last night and 2 things were immediately apparent. One quality of the game commentators is a vast improvement on channel 7. And no ads while the game is underway. Oh the bliss of no Brian ! I have resisted for some time because I am firmly in the “ there is no substitute for going to the game “ however with an ever increase of games at night and those not on FTA I succumbed to Kayo. The upside is I can watch when and wherever I am ( last night on my IPad while away for Easter. ) the 21st century has caught up with me and not all of it is bad. P.S F1 is looking good from now.

  2. Sticking up for Viney here. He is playing the game at the highest level, he must have some level of footy IQ. He showed heart and grunt in his early years when many of those around him didn't. He is a premiership hero. He has his own thread about making people cry. A little respect please.

  3. I’d fly to Mars to watch our team play. The airfare would probs be cheaper 😑 I’m down to one kidney and my selfish ingrate of a son won’t let me put one of his on eBay. 🙃

  4. For those questioning Brayshaw do a re-think He's being used in a fail-safe role a kick behind the play in a clean-up role. In defence not on the ball. 16 possessions yesterday and not one clanger. Repelled a lot of WC forward forays He in fact used the ball very well when he got it and it wasn't his fault that he didn't have that many opportunities. He wasn't needed much due to West Coast being so poor He's played well all year in that role and the coaching staff wouldn't be expecting a stack of possessions

  5. Was at the game. Hunter is really starting to find his groove in our team. He is a gun and will be huge for us. So impressed by some of our youngsters - Rivers, McVee, Bowey, Chandler - take bow!

  6. More on Brayshaw If a 70% DE (Disposal Efficiency) rating is at least a pass mark then Gus is killing it right now R1 - 95% R2 - 63% R3 - 84% R4 - 88% So what is the issue? I'd argue there isn't one Get off the bloke's back, he's playing a tremendous team role that needs to be appreciated

  7. From stingy Demons to high scoring Demons. We’ve kicked a league high 70 goals in the first month, next best Pies with 59.

  8. From the 2023 Laws of the Game. 1.1 DEFINITIONS ... Goal Line: the white line marked on the Playing Surface between each goal post, as illustrated in Diagram 1. ... 16.1 GOALS AND BEHINDS 16.1.1 Scoring a Goal Subject to Law 16.2, a Goal is scored when the football is Kicked completely over the Goal Line by a Player of the Attacking Team without being touched by any other Player, even if the football first touches the ground. 16.1.2 Scoring a Behind Subject to Law 16.2, a Behind is scored when any of the following occurs: ... (b) the football touches or passes over the goal post or touches the padding or any other attachment to the goal post; (c) a Player of the Attacking Team Kicks the football over the Goal Line but before completely passing over the Goal Line, the football is touched by another Player; Note: "Goal Line", not "back of the padding". According to the rules, it's a goal. This "back of the padding" thing is a furphy.

  9. So proud of my peeps. They looked great considering more than half of us weren’t there. If you look at the fence in front of Ricky Lever you can see the GO JUDD sign that was given to the DA by Judd’s family. ❤️💙

  10. I dislike Essendon more than any club…well maybe equal with Collingwood. I hope we embarrass them. We are better than them, as a team and just generally!

  11. On a side note, I know footy is a tough game, but gees it really broke my heart to see Hunt so sad after the game. He was a real favourite of mine at Melbourne. Always tried his hardest and clearly didn’t want to leave. I wish him all the best. Thought he was very good today!

  13. Happy with a 10 goal win. Eagles turned up early and were flicking the ball around with pace early on. Was a little worried it could be a grind all day. Some rambling thoughts; Jack Viney was very, very good today. Glorious to see T-Mac clunking some nice grabs on the lead too. #31 classy as always and Kozzy could have been BOG on another day if he had finished off his work a little more efficiently. Trent Rivers is a gun.

  15. I won an all expenses trip to Angove Winery through work last year but was too busy to go. When the footy fixture released I always look for the Essendon game as my fiancee is Essendon. I was happy to see it was the gather round so I made this trip work around this game. Flights, accommodation, eftpos card, car, the whole works. The only thing that isn't covered is the coin toss. Really looking forward to the buzz around Adelaide for the week

  16. Just read a match review that deadset described Lever as a “high profile recruit”. He’s in his sixth season at the club ffs. Twice as long as he was at the fruit tingles. its akin to referring to “ex-Bomber” Michael Hibberd or “Number 2 draft pick” Christian Petracca.

  17. Wait until the next tv rights deal (starting next year?) when Fox/Kayo are allowed to provide their own commentators for ALL games - we'll never have to listen to BT, Jobe, Lingy, McLachlan and the rest of those nuffies again (except for the GF and hopefully we'll all be at the G and can watch the replays with the radio commentary 🤣)

  18. I think everything about our good performance has been said so I'll give a shout out to the commentary team on fox (I can't believe I'm typing this). Just four people calling a game of footy without yelling and hyperbole. I actually left the volume up. Very relaxing game to watch. We're starting to really click into gear now. Go Dees

  23. He was our choice, we picked him. And then he arrived at a dysfunctional club where development was poor. We paraded him around like he was a prized colt at the Magic Millions. What were we thinking? Fast forward to the now and we develop our prospects properly and Jason Taylor had got the midas touch And we don't need Taylor being poached (we poached him from the Pies) In terms of best recruiters, his record is right up there with the best if not the best As for our depth, I honestly never thought we could do as well as we're doing. We are leading the way in terms of list building Just imagine if we continue to list build properly for the next 10 years? No more bottoming out or rebuilding from scratch Finals and top 4 ongoing every season

  24. There were a lot of posters arguing that Tmac was done. I get it to some extent but it wasn't that long ago when he was a huge part of our last flag. Yesterday he showed those skills and determination again. A fit Tmac playing at his best will see us go all the way again.

  28. Why are you all at each others throats? Its literally a discussion forum. Viney isn't perfect but I'd rather have him than play against him. That said, it's also not heresy to question his spot and worth to the team, same as any other player in the side. Just chill - we are sitting in a good spot, playing well but not too well, whilst a number of our apparent competitors have had spluttering starts. Our splutter will come....enjoy the footy while we are winning and stop ripping into each other about selections you can't influence in any case

  29. Viney's role doesn't require finesse. He's a bull and when he is on (esp finals) he continually gets the ball going our way I'm in agreement with others that he's even better when he dishes the ball off quickly when he is on. Yesterday he was terrific and once he hits good form, we see it for at least a month He's a matchwinner when in that beast-mode. So beast-mode and dish it off quickly but that style invites injuries. We just need to keep him healthy

  30. I find this "travelling interstate" issue a distraction. Every club, bar those based in Victoria travel interstate almost every second week. Why should Victorian clubs complain?

  31. Most of you have interest in 2 games a week - to watch Melbourne win and hope Freo lose. I hate Essendon enough that I’d rather Freo won if it guaranteed an Essendon loss. The rancid cherry on the top is my utter contempt for Jake Stringer.

  35. A FRIENDLY BREEZE by KC from Casey The first arrivals to Casey Fields for Sunday’s VFL local derby between the Casey Demons and the Frankston Dolphins were greeted by fleeting glimpses of blue skies and the rains that lashed the region were moderating although the winds still gusted from time to time. After a torrid start the wind turned out to be a friendly breeze in the end for the home side as it coasted to its third win on the trot, this time by a comfortable margin of ten goals, 16.13 (109) to 7.7 (49). The Dolphins kicked first with the benefit of the wind and for the first half hour of the game, they held sway. They were on top in the early clearance battles, scored the opening goal that was soon matched by Tom Sheridan’s first and held a two goal lead at quarter time. It was rare for anyone to hold the ascendancy at any time at the Fortress and the Demons were stung into action by coach Taylor Whitford’s measured address at the break. For the ensuing two quarters, Casey put on something of a clinic booting the next nine goals unanswered on either side of the half time break to hold an unassailable 49 point lead as the final term kicked off. By then the game opened up with goals flowing for both sides. The final margin at the end was a 60-point victory for the hosts that saw them at the top of the table. There were many stars for Casey. Bailey Laurie with 35 disposals, 6 tackles and a goal from the middle was the standout. He was accompanied by former Saint turned Demon in Luke Dunstan (26 touches) and two much improved youngsters in the livewire Andy Moniz-Wakefield from Darwin and George Grey who was recently upgraded to the club’s leadership group. And, as usual, we marveled at the massive contribution of master tackler Jimmy Munro who kept the Dolphins on their toes with his relentless pressure on the tackle. He finished with 11 bone jarring tackles for the game. There were many contributions from the well blended side that contained just ten AFL listed players. Blake Howes again stood out with his good ball control and running through the lines. He was particularly important early when the pressure was well and truly on the team. Forward Matt Jefferson showed great goal awareness near the big sticks. He can take a mark and he kicked three goals, as did recruit Sheridan who was noticed by Max Gawn starring in a final for South Croydon. Josh Schache was also among the goals while pinch hitting in the ruck helping the improving Jack Bell. Coming back from injury, Daniel Turner stood up well in defence where he and Deakyn Smith toiled hard. Young forward Oliver Sestan flashed in and out of play and although not prolific in winning the football, he again showed his promise for the future. It will be interesting to see exactly where he is with a year of development and the mentoring of the experienced heads of Melbourne under his belt. With the AFL clubs congregating in Adelaide next weekend for the Gather Road, Casey should have a strong squad available for its first away encounter of the year at the NEC Hangar against the Bombers next Sunday afternoon. That part of the world is far from home for Casey and the support of local Dees would be greatly appreciated. 41. Of our first 10 matches, five are interstate. Then a block of three home games at the ‘G, then the bye, and then… (cue the shower scene from Psycho music) Geelong in Geelong *shudder* But then we play every game bar one (round 24 in Sydney) at either the ‘G or Marvel. It’s better to get the interstate games out of the way in the first half of the season.

  44. Bizarre game to watch live. Very stop start and scrappy. Clearly WC were trying to drag us down to their own level and make it a low scoring game. I thought we handled the situation very well with a balanced disciplined team performance and still managed to pile on goals. Very few passengers to be seen.
