He is still a kid, so there's some chance he'll grow a few more brain cells. De Gooey on the other hand, appears to be shedding them.10 points

Speaking as an ADDer, this new trend of fetishising ADD or autism or "neurodivergence" is bizarre and IMV pathetic. Fine to be empowered but fetishisation has taken it way too far. Also, I don't go around groping girls. Take some responsiblity for your actions ya nuffy.9 points

Not sure that makes this behaviour ok. They were publicly objectifying girls on the internet. This isn't private locker room talk. These guys are role models.8 points

ralph's latest social media post contradicts his actual article; he really is a super ordinary journalist one of the few journos in the caper who tends to actually know what's going on told me on the weekend that literally no one in the caper has any idea re what jackson is planning on doing...8 points

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the Demonland podcast is the best, most measured analysis anywhere.7 points

Part of what upset Coll/AFL was the statement he put out from Bali blaming the media for persecution of athletes ie of him. The media did not go to NY or Bali and film him. It is Jordy allowing himself to be filmed and by the look of it enjoys being in front of the camera. His statement is typical 'woe is me'. He just doesn't get it. It is almost certain that Coll/AFL put in behavioural conditions, whether they end up on social media or not, prior to taking him back after the NY fiasco. Conditions and trust which appear to have been breached in Bali. He will be lucky to get a contract from the Pies let alone a long term one on big $. Even then the contract on the table was 2 years with 'triggers' for 2 years albeit on big $. If he had been at Melbourne he would have been cut years ago as a 'culture' risk. Any club with a no DH policy would not take him. Leopards do not change their spots.7 points

Josh has much bigger fish to fry. The AFL talk provides him with some flattery but it is well below his ambitions and intellectual capacity. Well that’s what Josh confidentially told me.6 points

The conservative, and likely, changes are May for Turner and Weideman for Gawn. The issue with those changes is that it means we go in with B Brown, M Brown and Weideman, who at times are all going to be in the same forward line, which inspires zero confidence. An option is to drop M Brown, who hasn't done much if anything in the seniors to warrant retaining his spot, and replacing him with a small (e.g. Bedford, Melksham), or perhaps using Petracca more as a forward with, for example, Jordon getting more midfield time, Brayshaw going back to the wing, and Hunt coming back into the backline. But if we drop M Brown, there will be periods of the game where Weid's rucking and Jackson's on the bench, and we'll be down to B Brown only. This all goes to show how valuable Gawn is beyond simple ruck craft.6 points

"Boost the match day" experience I wonder what was meant by that - if it's more US style ra-ra they really do not have their finger on the pulse. If it means getting rid of that in favour of a better experience for the supporters they might be on to something. I fear it's the former.6 points

I'm not outraged bin, but surely there is something amiss with CD's measures when the player who I reckon is the best all round ruckman I've seen since following footy does not get a gig.5 points

IF we lose four in a row AND win the flag; we will be the only team to lose 4 in a row AND and have two players get in a punch on at Entrecôte in the same season. I never thought I’d see the day.5 points

I don't Chris Tarrant from a bar of soap, and he is probably a well rounded, mature bloke. But, in my experience, being a successful businessman and developer is no guarantee he is not a immature [censored]5 points

You have my vote Layzie. The excitement should be mostly left to the game. Music / shazaam stuff after every goal along with disco lights... ughh. Ok a sprint or kicking comp at half time maybe but FCS turn their mics down. Especially that woman at the G. Voice sounds like two cats caterwauling in the early hours of a freezing winter morning.5 points

Do we really need to keep 'boosting' the matchday experience like a turbo jetpack? Why don't we un-boost the experience and let the sport do the talking? We don't need more music and lightshows and get up at half time and move your bootie nonsense.5 points

I think Ralph best summed it up and despite the tweets going everywhere, there was not one mention on sports radio, Goody's presser or anywhere. I suspect those in the know reckon it's bulltish. However, it can have a destabilising effect and make Jackson an easy target. FFS the media really needs to take a good hard look at itself. The feeding frenzy over May v Melksham, Bailey Smith, De Goey and the intense scrutiny and criticism and personal opinion. God I hope these boys don't read papers. I really do hope he stays on for another 2 years on a fair contract and then see how he develops. All speculation is on potential. He isn't on the same page as Max, Clarry and Trac when it comes to comparison5 points

Remember when the minor premiership was a poisoned chalice? That turned out ok. What matters is that we can be there deep in September, and that we are in good enough shape to really challenge. Cant wait for Thursday night. I expect to see a lot of you there!4 points

I'm not going to get too political on this forum but you'd hardly say the loose spending and debt levels he left indicate he would be a good fit for the running of any business let alone the AFL.4 points

I hope not the former Dr. That would be the death knell for those over 50. One of the great things about watching the game below AFL Senior level is none of these things exist. It's just about the game. PS I actually enjoy going to a game watching Casey more than the seniors these days. It's more like the game day experience I grew up with.4 points

Kids most definitely look up to footballers whether the footballer wants to be or not they are looked up to and if they publicly display inappropriate behaviour then kids will believe that that behaviour is socially acceptable. All players entering the system have the talk from the AFL and their club about social media and social responsibility. Yeah boys will be boys and everyone is doing it but that doesn't make it ok.3 points

Don't get me started: "move it on".....no need, it's just play on "yours" or " mine"....no need, there are lines marked on the ground to see which umpire is controlling, and who cares when they can be over-ridden by the other " ball out" or "handballed" ....no need, no call has been made " 15 seconds".....it is the players responsibility to kick the ball before 30 seconds is up. And there is a clock on the scoreboard. At that point it is " play on".3 points

About 15 years ago I worked with someone who was a fairly accomplish amateur / semi-pro road (motor) bike rider (e.g. Superbikes). At the time when I worked with him, he mentored young up and coming riders. He said a big focus was on the concept of having $1 dollar of mental energy to spend. They'd assign a cost to things like gear changes (5 cents), cornering (10 cents), transitioning between turns (20 cents). He'd get them to rate it after 5 laps and than again after 25. The cost would always be higher the more fatigued they were. The learning for them was to get better and better at those skills to reduce the cost to properly execute them. This meant that fatigue had less impact resulting in a more consistent performance from start to finish. By way of comparison, this Dees team has had issues with delivery into the F50. With coaching and a lot of practise they've improved, but at their core they remain somewhat unskilled or inconsistent in this area. During a period of heavy loading players have less mental energy and focus due to fatigue, so unless they're naturally very gifted at F50 entries the quality of decision making is likely to be impacted. Unless it's second nature (from skill formed at a young age), fatigue will impact the execution and decision making with any aspect of the game. We saw very poor F50 entries happen during the Collingwood and GWS game last year, and we've seen it in the second half against Freo and Sydney, and most of the game last week.3 points

"At 20, industry experts suggest a fair deal at Melbourne would be around $800,000 per season and be in line with deals for young stars Sam Walsh, Ben King and Max King." $800,000 is overs i reckon And I'd take either of the King boys instead of him3 points
