  1. We will not just beat them, we will murder the filth on Queens birthday 2022. I just feel it in my bones. We are a club with values and principles with their backs against the wall. We are a club prepared to sanction and suspend those who step outside those principles. We have been blasted 24-7 since Sunday in the press for all the wrong reasons, when there is so much going right. So many supporters, members, players, coaches, and admin staff and everyone else who loves our club will be bleeding red and blue right now. Angry as [censored]. Channelling this anger and applying it to playing football will be the secret weapon. Against a club whose questionable values and principles failed to suspend a player for a not so dissimilar transgression in another country. Against members of the public. The value differential between the two sides is stark. And this is key. Time to make a stand Melbourne. Time to murder the filth. Time to turn up and finally enjoy an old fashioned epoch-making Melbourne MCG slaughter of the filth of truly epic proportions. Don't have tickets and want to witness the murder? I have 2 tickets I bought 2 weeks ago that I no longer need, as I've accepted an invitation to the murder from the hallowed seats of the MCC for only the 2nd time in my life. The 2 adjacent tickets are on the 2nd row, 4th level, Olympic stand, next to the MCC on the wing. I'd hate them to go to waste. They cost me $53. I'm happy to give them away for free to a Demonlander so that they can also witness the murder with their own eyes. 1st Demonlander to PM me will get the tickets. Go Dees!

  2. One of the journo's made a comment about Demon supporters being at the snow on Monday instead of the game How childish and he should have been told to shut up by his peers Supporter-speak I don't mind, but a professional journalist? And the media wonder why we have little respect for the way they go about their job It's a serious press conference interrupted by a comment that is better suited to the schoolyard

  3. I think the fans probably need a win more than the club does. Would make for a much more comfortable bye week if we were back on the winner's list

  4. Anyone calling for Steve May's head needs to give them selves an upper cut. May's never say die attitude is the sort of spirit that saw us turn around a 20 point third quarter deficit into an 80 point premership for the MFC. You can't worship that and then turn on the guy when he tips ever so slightly over the other side of the line. Just can't please some people, the Weid is soft and doesn't put in, but now May's too much of an animal? To all the people that claim he shouldn't have been drinking - the impression I get is that today's footballers drink 10 times less and have 100 times more disiplined lifestyle than the average man on the street, so unless you're perfect, then let the bloke be a human. The AFL wading into this is total BS. Buddy gets one week for intentionally impacting a guy in the head with a fist while sober on a footy feild with perfect video evidence and they want to go further than the one week self imposed punishment given by the MFC - go [censored] yourselves AFL. I've seen a number of the statements made by Max and Maysy post the event - like what more do you want these guys to do? Start flagellating themselves until the blood runs freely FFS.

  5. So happy for Turner. I'm blown away in his growth ans development since his time with the Murray Bushrangers last year. I bumped into him at the local gym over the summer and was shocked to see how much puppy fat he'd lost and how incredibly fit he looked. He's a bit of a country lad who's good for team morale but also your typical hard working one who puts in when the work is required. All the best 'Disco'. Your family would be incredibly proud.

  6. Hunty has been very solid, playing in an unfamiliar role, for most of the season. Sure, he has lowered his colours (quite badly) over the last two weeks, but I would argue that the absence of May, an out of form Lever, and a banged-up Petty, have buggered up our team defensive structures to the point where he has been exposed one-on-one, on much taller and / or stronger opponents, on far too many occasions This is clearly not his go. On balance, I’m comfortable with his omission this week, but I think your use of the word ‘pathetic’ says more about your understanding of the game than it does about Hunty.

  10. According to the official bookmaker of the AFL - "integrity" is currently at $4.20 and the smart money is coming for "no integrity" at $1.72. If you are looking for value this weekend combine "integrity" with "No further investigation required" and "We've gone through the Due Diligence" and you can get them at $8.00 this weekend in our "same AFL Investigation multi." But as always when we bombard you with gambling ads on TV, radio, the internet, the newspaper and billboards and really mean it as a token gesture fully knowing it actually doesn't do anything to deter...gamble responsibly.

  11. Exactly - besides, as any discerning Melbourne supporter will tell you: weekends and public holidays at the snow are for the unwashed masses. Real Melbourne supporters go during the week, when there’s less riff-raff and a much shorter queue at Kofflers.

  13. "Turner, who grew up in Albury, made the move to Melbourne last year, and now lives with Angus Brayshaw’s parents, alongside teammates Judd McVee and Taj Woewodin". I guess that means Jackson has been allowed to leave the nest. The Brayshaws' are wonderful a demon family (shame we can't get Andrew to join). They have helped set so many young demon lads on their AFL path. Mr and Mrs Brayshaw deserve a medal.

  14. Blaming Hunt and Tomlinson for our two recent losses is akin to blaming you for the decline in quality of the written word. Or to put it another way, THEY’RE not solely responsible for that.

  17. 100%. Imagine if a journo said to Craig McRae ‘Public Holiday game on Monday. You’d expect a big crowd - but you’d get a big crowd every Monday considering 90% of your supporter base are unemployed’.

  18. Great to see a young bloke get a debut in a big game. It really adds some excitement! Well done by Jakey Lever on breaking the news to him. They look a long way off a club/ team in disrepair with poor culture as the media have painted us...Go Well Disco!

  21. I'm sure the Dees will post it on their YouTube channel at some point during the day. I will post it here when it goes up. Interesting to note that not a single reporter at that press conference (over zoom) has posted anything to twitter as of the writing of this. I bet you if there was something inflammatory in the presser and not the common sense and matter of factness that Goody spoke then they would have been salivating to post about it.

  25. Max and Goody putting on a media conference clinic this week, great performance from the coach in answering questions that had quite accusatorial insinuations which would have made me fire up if I had to face them. When you consider how Chopper Read, I mean Bevo, reacted earlier in the year and in all honesty how a host of other coaches have responded to controversial events in the media, it certainly makes me grateful for Goody's straight up and down style.

  29. Exactly ... over 100k members on the back of 3 premierships? Who are the self-satisfied lot? But we're the scapegoat/whipping boy and it will remain that way Crowds are down right across the board so the AFL has got a real problem on it's hands Overall, Simon spoke very well and gave nothing away other than mentioning that the club was handling things and would learn from what had happened

  31. Players should treat this game with Finals Intensity. They know the levels now. It’s not a dream. They powered away with the Flag last year. Losing S May is a major blow as is TMac. But others step in and we still have a dam good side But Monday is Finals pressure and then a week off

  33. 21,757 as per an Sen article. Crowd numbers have been suspiciously absent for some games on the AFL website. We got more to our Freo (+8,000) and Sydney games (+11,000). Haven't seen the media go hard on the tiger fans yet though.

  35. May Is a bully and he got chinned. Blokes like May understand and respect a biffing. He will now go back, keep his head down, and work tirelessly to be a better teammate. I don’t think there is any point banning him. He did this up the GC early on in his career, then went on to captain the club. He will walk out on the training track as a bloke his teammates know copped a hiding. That humbles a bloke like May. It’s the perfect response to a bully - to physically handle them in front of those they’d bullied. The public may not understand that, but bullying runs rampant in society now because without violence it’s never deterred, and keeps going. It’s why it’s a problem in schools (more than it ever has been). The risk for the players is they are supposed to be role models, blah blah blah. And as a result the AFL will probably be seen to dish out some sort of additional penalty, as to not be seen to endorse violence, which, to be fair, I’m not sure they can suspend players anymore than we have. In light of incidents like Franklin’s, where they act in a lenient fashion. Pretty happy with MFC’s response. It’s been appropriate. Both parties have been setback a long way for their actions that night. Melksham with his hand, and probably nearly be his year, as he’s a depth players and will now fall behind a few, and May has been publically humiliated in front of the players he was acting up in front of, and also the broader public.

  38. You can add homogenising the game. A lot of the excitement and individual brilliance is gone. Cold weather and mid week. Need to book tickets and pay more when plenty of seats. Covid. Blaring music. Great coverage on TV in comfort of home. Poor officiating. A ruling body out of touch with the fan base. Among other reasons I can’t think of atm.

  40. Our crowds have increased, actually. But never mind facts getting in the way of your gripe. Are you really a Melbourne supporter or someone who just wants to pick [censored] regardless of the facts? Melbourne are averaging around 36,000 per game this year, putting us 5th on the tally of attendance, and is certainly an increase in attendance from previous recent years. The four clubs above us on the tally have significantly more members than Melbourne. If you were to look at attendance per membership, Melbourne is actually on top. By the way I have been to all games this year bar two, the Port Adelaide game in Adelaide and the West Coast Eagles game in Perth. So don't assume anything about whether I'm going to the games or not. But while we're at it, let's address some of your points: a) And? Our attendance is increased, as has our membership. b) Again, pro rata to our membership, supporters have increased. c) That's crap, our attendance has increased. d) How are they different to any other clubs for their non-attendance? Attendance is low across the whole board. e) How is rain not a pathetic excuse for Hawthorn/Collingwood if you say it's pathetic for Melbourne? It rained on Saturday night, and it was 4 degrees. Double standards much? f) Essendon have about 30,000 more members than Melbourne. Strange argument. g) Huh? I've been at all the Melbourne based games, and the Gold Coast game where we outnumbered GCS supporters. What am I supposed to be defending myself against? h) WTF are you on about??? i) We are there to support. You're clearly not, you're picking [censored] at other supporters. j) That's been the case for 30 years, what's your point? Where have I ever used that as an "excuse"? Perhaps get off your high horse and stop being a [censored].

  45. The so called 'drip feed' isn't coming from the club. Any info after Max's media conf is from ambulance chasing commentators digging into what happened and nearly everyone comes up with a slightly different version which leads to frenzied headlines about 'twists' and 'new information'. If the players or the club have deliberately withheld critical information the AFL will find out and we take what comes our way. But, I don't think naming the players at the dinner, who said what to who, who stood up to May, where the players were before or after dinner etc as critical information nor is it relevant. Digging for that sort of stuff is just mud raking and the guesswork they make around that is what is being 'drip fed'. Btw, according to Sam McClure the dinner was in a private dining room.

  46. When your train stop is the second last station to the end of the line it isn't very comfortable being in a near empty carriage at 11 pm on your own or worse when the others in the carriage are some unsavoury looking characters. Sometimes it is downright scary. My football going friends live on other train lines so not many options for safe travel home. Before anyone suggests driving to a station closer to Richmond note there aren't many station car parks that anyone would want to be alone in late at night. People could be a bit more thoughtful as to why some of us don't get to every night game. I have been to three night games so far and will go to more but it isn't easy.
