  1. An enduring disgrace that Goodwin didn't get the opportunity to speak after the Grand Final. A high point of his and our lives ruined by Basil Z - a complete peanut

  5. If you choose to bump in play and accidentally ( non intentionally ) hit the head you go. He chose to strike a player off the ball ( twice ) and will claim he accidentally hit his head. That is worse than bumping in play.

  6. Times have certainly changed from Kennedy/Barassi coaching. And I would say for the better... This is the second upload by the club- the first one obviously cut off early.

  8. Oh dear, don't post any more coz of the constant negativity about players and coaches, thought it might change after last year but sadly no, still the same posters who one handedly bag players the Club has signed and kept on the list, Rather than post on here thought they may be better served applying for the vacancies at North, they seem to know better Everybody is entitled to an opinion but repeating the same faults ad nauseum no matter the player is just tedious

  12. Whilst I think you make some really good points I disagree with Sparrow. He had a poor game on the weekend but he simply won't be dropped. Prior to the freo game his form has been solid enough and I doubt he gets dropped off the back of 1 poor game. He's playing a support role for Oliver and Petracca and does he's bit when he's giving these guys a chop out. He's sacrificing a fair bit for the benefit of our 2 superstars. Oliver and Petracca have in the past, raved on about the likes of Sparrow, Jordon and Harmes who support these guys being able to do what they on field.

  13. Why Hunt? Until the Freo game has played on small forwards and kept them quiet all year. By necessity, was required to play on Freo's tall forwards (because he's stronger and taller than Bowey, and Rivers is struggling) until Weideman was transferred back. Yes, he was outpointed by Darcy but at 187cm and 88kg, Hunt is still 16cm shorter and 24kg lighter than Darcy. If a defender has to make way for Salem, I suspect it will be Rivers. Of course, if Langdon doesn't play, Brayshaw could return to the wing instead.

  15. Ch7 have been awful with their coverage of the game. Outside of ‘broadcasting’ of the literal game - Fox actually have a myriad of shows to supplement their coverage of the sport, even with the womens game. Ch7 just pay lip service to that side of it with pathetic attempts to engage with Roaming Brian after games, zero analysis on non- Friday night games, a terrible show with Adam Cooney that much cost more in rent than in talent post Friday night. There is no talking footy or GameDay anymore. Ch7 and Free to Air have lost me - I would prefer to purchase Paramount and watch through there. They have taken it for granted and their late fixes with the commentary (Nicholson, Matt Thompson, Daisy Pearce) is too little too late. And I know that some older people and those in regional areas with bad internet may be impacted but there will still be the fri, sat night games, and the Sunday arvo game to watch on FTA.

  16. JT can't get every pick right. In that 2015 draft: #2 Josh Schache - Key forward. Played 68 games. Not tin regular 22. Trade to WB #6 Aaron Francis - Key forward. Played 54 games. Not in regular 22. In the 2014 draft: #1 Paddy McCartin - Key forward. Played 45 games. At Sydney And neither does everyone else. Overall JT has done a fantastic job!!

  17. It's absurd the amount of people think that JVR should be getting a run. Every single game he's played with either; Weideman, B.Brown, T.Mac or M.Brown, all of which would receive the No.1 oppo defender and are all experienced forwards. JVR is receiving the No.2 defender, which is a very different concept than receiving the No.2 defender in the AFL side (compared to VFL). You think, anyone who plays us is receiving A.Tomlinson as the No.1 defender and then J.Smith/D.Turner as the No.2 defender, bit different to getting S.May as the No.1 defender and then J.Lever/H.Petty as the No.2.

  22. I find the whole spectacle made if this on the afl website a bit unsettling - “ tune in to find out if Buddy gets off for whacking another player in the head ?” Like it’s a reality tv show. even foxsports site the attached video with footage had 30 second pointsbet sporting add AFL industry seem to have gone past it’s moral compass on a lot of this - very much a $$$$$ industry.

  23. I can't see Weed behind any good as a defender becuase with his size it would have to be in a key post, and he is simply not good enough in the sort of one on one wrestle situations against big forward he would find himself in regularly down back. And i can't see him being a natural intercept type like Liam Jones - the pin up boy for a forward to a defender shift. So, if he can't make it as a key forward the sad reality is he is a bust - at least for us. Which means we have problem in that second tall forward role. Even the biggest Tmac critics and/or Weed fans would surely acknowledge the Tmac v Weed debate is over and the second tall forward role is Tmacs. If Tmac is injured again i think they have to look past Weed as a fill in. JVR is not ready yet, and i don't think will be until next year. So, if not Weed, who comes in? What do people think about Tomlinson playing the second tall forward role? Tomlinson is only slightly shorter and lighter than Weed, is much stronger and much, much better one on one. And crucially he plays with much more intensity than Sam and would halve more contests. If memory serves, whilst predominately a winger and defender with the Giants, Tomlinson played some games at CHF for the them. Having a look at his record he kicked 12 goals in 2018, so perhaps he played forward a bit that year. And having Tomlinson in the team would provide the positional flexibility Tmac provides as he could go back if required (and even, like Tom, to the wing) Thoughts?

  24. Next thing you know the AFL will schedule the tribunal hearing out on the MCG as the pre-match entertainment. Will Buddy get off? (A bit like saying, will Indiana Jones get the treasure and the girl?) Stay tuned for the odds with Nathan Brown, and remember, gamble responsibly.

  26. Yep agree totally with this. Half the side played poorly & only about 4 players earnt their pay. Max & Jackson got pantsed, Lever turned it over repeatedly, Rivers was terrible, Brown was useless & ANB had a shocker, Dunstan was a wasted space but hey lets make it all about Weid.

  29. If you have a spare hour and Amazon Prime, do yourself a favour and watch the doco that they have produced with our Tayla. Really interesting and inspiring, and disgusting and enlightening. I have learnt a lot about her as a person and what drives her. Its also a testament to her that her larger message in this doco has little to do with Tayla Harris the person.

  35. Completely agreed. Furthermore if we don't keep giving the likes of JJ and Sparrow games, we are really doing ourselves a disservice, as we need to keep developing the next generation of midfielders. We don't have great depth in this area and IMO Sparrow has all the makings of a very very good inside mid who can also go outside and impact the scoreboard. He can be anything, but he needs time to develop and he won't have a better chance to develop than under 2 of the best mids in the competition (not to mention the best ruck duo and Viney protecting him). He is contributing each and every week, and even if he has a quiet game, he deserves to maintain his spot, especially as there is nobody at Casey knocking the door down in this role (and I would pick Sparrow over Dunstan every single day of the week).

  36. All the AFL have to say is “if we let Buddy off, then we’re officially sanctioning deliberate slaps/fists to the head as ok”. Doesn’t seem possible, if only on account of the precedent it sets. On the other hand, the AFL obviously thinks precedents have about a 6 day lifespan.

  37. It may boil down to whether Jordon or Rivers keeps their spot. At the moment, I'd say Jordon is well ahead, so the team would be better balanced with Jordon on a wing and Brayshaw as a defender rather than last year's structure of Brayshaw on a wing and Rivers as a defender. Of course, injuries have a way of interfering with the best laid plans.

  38. The painful thing is you can't even leave Weid in the side to see if he will build confidence because he just seems to get outmarked entirely too often. I rate Weid on talent but he's just not doing enough at AFL level at this stage, i suspect by the end of the season Rooey could have overtaken him as well.

  41. I don't even know where to start with this post. "Fremantle have no inside mid" is just horrendously inaccurate. Brayshaw, Serong, Brodie and Mundy are in the top handful of inside midfields in the competition. They answered Oliver by tagging him with Aish. It's not like putting Oliver on the bench meant he all of a sudden lost all of his form. Oliver played 90% of the game (more than his season average). And at least one time he (and others) were on the bench, the game was on the outer wing and we couldn't get the rotations through when we probably wanted. But at its core, your post in insane because you genuinely seem to think Goodwin made a "move" to "bench" Oliver. Like, you genuinely seem to think that our coach saw Oliver dominating, knew Petracca was sick and we were missing Langdon and Harmes, and thought "I should "bench" Oliver like it's 1995". Just an utterly ridiculous thing to think.

  42. He's a backup key forward/ruck. He's played 6 games this year as such, averaging 1.5 goals, 3.2 marks and 1.2 tackles a game. For reference, our primary key forward Ben Brown averages 1.9 goals, 3.4 marks and 0.5 tackles per game this year. I mean, I get it's the internet and people like to make outlandish comments, but the overreaction about Weideman is silly.

  43. You'd keep him until either he no longer has a use on the list, he requests a trade for more opportunity or a better option is available. IMO he's never going to be a gun forward, he's never going to 'break out' and will never live up to his initial draft order, so people are just going to continue to get over the top frustrated about him until they realize that.

  44. I want him to get off. We don't need the opposition to be missing players. Also Buddy at the G on a Saturday night....easily brings in an extra 5k at least. Swans fans in Melbourne haven't got to see much Buddy over the past 5-6 years. People literally go to see him. It will be electric if he's playing.
