Fritta's second goal in the third quarter still sends shivers up my spine!8 points
-
We have all commented on the point the game changed. Few if any picked that stoppage. It was not long after Bontempelli's 3rd goal when he was on the bench. Had he not been on the bench who knows if that stoppage went our way. He stayed on the bench for two more goals by which time the momentum was with us and we went: Bang! Bang, Bang, Bang! All credit to Jack Viney. Its the little things that make big moments. As an aside this is more like the doco many DL's were hoping for from the 'Every Heart Beats True' Fox doco the other evening. The latter was an enjoyable puff piece. The above 16 minutes gives real insight into how our season changed and what was happening inside the team during the grand final. And we get to see the best part of the 3rd qtr again! Very powerful viewing.7 points

Is it only us who notice Christian Salem?? He is a gun. His 1st Quarter in the GF was 10/10 i just don’t understand why he is so underrated…7 points

This was brilliant I had tears streaming down my face at the end - what is wrong with me 🤣🤣 By the way does anyone still feel sick watching the second/early 3rd quarter? Seeing those highlights was giving me anxiety even knowing what was coming - what is wrong with me 🤣🤣6 points

The club is doing a really good job lately of pumping the supporters up for the season.5 points

Never watch them. Start my replays at the Gawn sling tackle. Then 7 goals straight ending with Clarrie and Bang! Bang bang bang - the finest bit of footy commentary ever.5 points

I think there was a certain degree of over-celebration in Bontempelli's last goal.5 points

The leadership shown by Goody and Gawn at half time is why we won. Just kept the players calm and got them to re-set and go again, when they could have easily crumbled. We have a special, special group of players now.5 points

There is s video of Kate Roffey accepting the 2021 premiership flag in this afl.com article, really worth taking a look: https://www.afl.com.au/news/717064/-time-to-pay-back-that-debt-this-year-s-for-the-fans-declares-gill I am so happy that Kate is our club president. She is not only an outstanding speaker but just an outstanding person. Her inclusiveness and clear love for all the players, staff and demons fans is really heartwarming. I'm so looking forward to this season, Go Dees!4 points

why don't we all take a deep breath and wait till some details are actually announced i have faith that roffey will get us a good deal4 points

No issues at all if all the 'Melbourne teams' come together under one giant roof. Dee's Storm Victory Rebels Makes complete sense as some facilities will only be used in short bursts and can be well and truly shared - think medical/rehab/gym/pool/meeting rooms/chill out zone's... Cross team IP and culture benefits galore. If it's set up right it could be golden4 points

A very enjoyable 16 minutes. It gave some great behind the scenes footage into what happened at half time, on the bench during the third quarter and then at 3 quarter time ("Take 2 deep breathes" - and they all do!!!"). Loved, loved, loved it. I get why the Fox doco had to deeply explore the last 57 years, but if you've lived enough of those 57 years like a lot of us have, Momentum contains the stuff we really desperately wanted.4 points

Just watched it on my lunch break. I'd rather have had 90 minutes of this than the Fox doco.4 points

Watching Live, as Harmesy was running into space about to kick his bullet to Fritsch, my thoughts were “We are back in this” When Fritsch landed on his feet and kicked his second 30 seconds later i went feral!!!!4 points

Nev's evolution, growth and desire to work for a higher purpose has been a pleasure to watch over the years. There's no limit to his ambition and the path he is forging will be long lasting. He could be anything. Love the fella.4 points

Happy for the pundits and opposition to keep on underestimating him. Their lack of respect helped us win a premiership. May they continue to show such irreverent behaviour towards all our stars.4 points

I'm pretty sure umpire Gavine was the umpire who failed to pay the obvious deliberate free kick against Adelaide in front of the rabid home fans in our match last year. He has now given a 50m penalty for a player laughing at a replay of a decision - saying that he felt belittled. I would suggest this umpire needs to work on his strength of character so that he can make the right decisions in the big moments no matter the pressure of the situation and doesn't get offended by a player laughing.4 points

If we get more than 70,000 that would be amazing. Having said that every Melbourne supporter I know, both die hard and half arsed are booked in and ready to go for next Wednesday. (Times like these is why I love my reserved seats membership) People are very keen to see the flag unfurling and to enjoy footy in person again. It’s been a very very long time. On both counts.4 points

Bont and Treloar were the standouts. Both played very very well and should be proud of their efforts. Bont wins the Norm Smith easily if the Dogs won the game. He was outstanding up until the last 10 minutes of the third quarter.3 points

7 news reporting Zaharakis has been lured by Goodwin to play at Casey this year, with a view to become a top up player for us. This is despite the fact he has signed to play for Bundoora in the Northern Football League for 2022.3 points

Lets get back to the real situation. A very sad one . In the space of a few weeks world sport has suffered the loss of three outstanding sportsmen. John Landy, champion runner and person, the epitome of sportsmanship, Rodney Marsh, wicketkeeper/ batsman of the highest order, and Shane Warne greatest spin bowler of all time. Rest in peace my sporting heroes. You gave us much pleasure in your pursuits.3 points

Just watched the latest training video with ANB on the mic. It’s obvious the blue team is the firsts and the red is the seconds. So from what I saw, Harmes was in red. JJ, Sparrow and Hunt all in blue. Both May and Salem featured prominently (in blue of course), so good sign they’re ready to go. Did not see Hibbo in the video.3 points

Emailed club on Monday for updated membership total. As of now it is 46,827. They are pushing for 50,000 for the opening round. To put this in context last year we reached this number around 7 May and 2019 coming off the 2018 success we reached it around 21 April. Go Dees3 points

Also worth mentioning, along with his playing career, his off-field service. Winner of the Jim Stynes Community Leadership award in 2018 "selected for his work supporting indigenous youth through various school-based programs" and also an ambassador for the Red Cross and Headspace. The full package is what makes him a champion. Source: https://www.jimstynesfoundation.com.au/about/jscl-award/3 points

Signed up again Tuesday as a Interstate member and also paid for my twin Grandsons, which I have done since they were one (now 16). Lady I talked to said we are at 46700. This is very good as we should be close to 50k by first game. Let's hope so.3 points

I've had a couple of Dogs supporters tell me they couldn't get their mids (Bont and Macrae in particular) back on the ground during that frenzy. I kindly tell them we gave them plenty of opportunities as they could have made changes after any of the goals we slammed through. Not to mention they had Bont, Treloar and Libba in the middle during our second Minute of Madness just before 3/4 time.3 points

After an incredibly emotional week, “Momentum” just caps it off in a positive way. I don’t think I have a tear left to shed.3 points

Interesting that Jack was the only player to remonstrate with Daniels for flipping Max over the boundary line. Again, its the little things that make big moments. Anyone else get the feeling that Petracca was about to refer to Daniels as a 'midget' but hesitated long enough to say a '5'6" player' instead.3 points

Now that was a brilliant doco despite it's brevity. That gave you the sort of insights that was missing from the Fox doco.3 points

She is magnificent to listen to. I know I’m bias but it is a goddamn pleasure to have a woman lead my footy club!3 points

I do get that, but wasn't the whole idea of having our very own home base was so that we could finally be one whole club which would include players and administrator staff being in the one precinct and finally be free of having to share facilities with other sporting codes? Which other AFL clubs are sharing facilities with other sporting codes?3 points

Ahh [censored].. I thought last night was good but I reckon this one is better. Wish it went longer. The small snippets of Goody talking during the game is gold. Wish there was more of that. I reckon that's Gus choking back tears at the end.3 points

Seriously trying to remember when Franklin last dominated a game. At least 2-3 years3 points

I suggest this umpire needs to grow a thicker skin. Players are allowed to question or laugh at a poor decision as a way to show frustration. It was a ridiculous free. If the umpire feels belittled by that, it says more about the umpire than the player.3 points

I just watched the reply of this game as it just happened to be on foxtel and those 50 metre penalties plus a lack of intensity from our guys were the main difference. one thing I noticed was how hard Kozzie and ANB work. They do alot of unrewarded running just to put pressure on the opposition to try and cause in turnovers . Their value to the team us much more than goals alone.3 points

As good as this doco is, the following link is a million times better. Watch it. If you don't, you're going to regret it: https://www.afl.com.au/ondemand/stories/491019/season-final-story?episode=9&fbclid=IwAR1-44biAI8uOmjGELIxDvt48RQjerk_EgydgILoiKcGWkXKKNeb6vfGozg#season-1.handled2 points

Brilliant and unsurprising to see him continue to shine off the field. As much as those colours disgust me, I am thrilled for him and can’t wait to see what he does in the future.2 points

I learned that Trac is aware of the unearthly expression of steely resolve that was etched across his brow was after kicking that goal. Never seen a bloke more determined in my life.2 points

Toby must be [censored] off. He gets into trouble (correctly) for using his leg to sort of 'protect the ball drop' and Dangerfield, puts his leg down and in a seperate action raises it again high up. The AFL wants us to respect umpires - perhaps the AFL should work on earning our respect.2 points

Hi from near Lismore. Had to come into the Base today for internet access for work. Absolute carnage up here - never seen anything like it. Still no NBN or Telstra/Optus 4G in many areas (ie no 000 access). Fuel still scant. Food re-appearing. The carnage about town is unfathomable. Fence posts hanging off power lines (we're talking in hilly country too, metres and metres above the ground). Anyhoo, I've a barcode for R1, I simply can't get there, sadly. The Wednesday night schedule is most inconvenient. Will be at Metricon for the Suns though if any DLers will be there. Barcode R1, hit me up2 points
