  1. Fritta's second goal in the third quarter still sends shivers up my spine!

  2. We have all commented on the point the game changed. Few if any picked that stoppage. It was not long after Bontempelli's 3rd goal when he was on the bench. Had he not been on the bench who knows if that stoppage went our way. He stayed on the bench for two more goals by which time the momentum was with us and we went: Bang! Bang, Bang, Bang! All credit to Jack Viney. Its the little things that make big moments. As an aside this is more like the doco many DL's were hoping for from the 'Every Heart Beats True' Fox doco the other evening. The latter was an enjoyable puff piece. The above 16 minutes gives real insight into how our season changed and what was happening inside the team during the grand final. And we get to see the best part of the 3rd qtr again! Very powerful viewing.

  3. We shared Jolimont with possums. Storm and Rebels and Victory are fine.

  4. This was brilliant I had tears streaming down my face at the end - what is wrong with me 🤣🤣 By the way does anyone still feel sick watching the second/early 3rd quarter? Seeing those highlights was giving me anxiety even knowing what was coming - what is wrong with me 🤣🤣

  5. Is it only us who notice Christian Salem?? He is a gun. His 1st Quarter in the GF was 10/10 i just don’t understand why he is so underrated…

  6. The club is doing a really good job lately of pumping the supporters up for the season.

  7. I think there was a certain degree of over-celebration in Bontempelli's last goal.

  8. The leadership shown by Goody and Gawn at half time is why we won. Just kept the players calm and got them to re-set and go again, when they could have easily crumbled. We have a special, special group of players now.

  9. I don’t wanna leave the ‘safety bubble’ that is a totes happy and comfortable off-season. I feel like it’s only six days until we’re thrown to the wolves again. Me, next Wednesday: “Hello stress, angst and nervousness! Haven’t seen you guys in a while. Come on in and take a load off.”

  10. Perhaps Maxy being unceremoniously slammed into the turf was the psychological catalyst and the stoppage a minute later was the physical manifestation of such.

  11. why don't we all take a deep breath and wait till some details are actually announced i have faith that roffey will get us a good deal

  12. A very enjoyable 16 minutes. It gave some great behind the scenes footage into what happened at half time, on the bench during the third quarter and then at 3 quarter time ("Take 2 deep breathes" - and they all do!!!"). Loved, loved, loved it. I get why the Fox doco had to deeply explore the last 57 years, but if you've lived enough of those 57 years like a lot of us have, Momentum contains the stuff we really desperately wanted.

  13. Just watched it on my lunch break. I'd rather have had 90 minutes of this than the Fox doco.

  14. Watching Live, as Harmesy was running into space about to kick his bullet to Fritsch, my thoughts were “We are back in this” When Fritsch landed on his feet and kicked his second 30 seconds later i went feral!!!!

  15. Never watch them. Start my replays at the Gawn sling tackle. Then 7 goals straight ending with Clarrie and Bang! Bang bang bang - the finest bit of footy commentary ever.

  16. There is s video of Kate Roffey accepting the 2021 premiership flag in this afl.com article, really worth taking a look: https://www.afl.com.au/news/717064/-time-to-pay-back-that-debt-this-year-s-for-the-fans-declares-gill I am so happy that Kate is our club president. She is not only an outstanding speaker but just an outstanding person. Her inclusiveness and clear love for all the players, staff and demons fans is really heartwarming. I'm so looking forward to this season, Go Dees!

  18. No issues at all if all the 'Melbourne teams' come together under one giant roof. Dee's Storm Victory Rebels Makes complete sense as some facilities will only be used in short bursts and can be well and truly shared - think medical/rehab/gym/pool/meeting rooms/chill out zone's... Cross team IP and culture benefits galore. If it's set up right it could be golden

  19. Emailed club on Monday for updated membership total. As of now it is 46,827. They are pushing for 50,000 for the opening round. To put this in context last year we reached this number around 7 May and 2019 coming off the 2018 success we reached it around 21 April. Go Dees

  20. Signed up again Tuesday as a Interstate member and also paid for my twin Grandsons, which I have done since they were one (now 16). Lady I talked to said we are at 46700. This is very good as we should be close to 50k by first game. Let's hope so.

  22. I've had a couple of Dogs supporters tell me they couldn't get their mids (Bont and Macrae in particular) back on the ground during that frenzy. I kindly tell them we gave them plenty of opportunities as they could have made changes after any of the goals we slammed through. Not to mention they had Bont, Treloar and Libba in the middle during our second Minute of Madness just before 3/4 time.

  23. After an incredibly emotional week, “Momentum” just caps it off in a positive way. I don’t think I have a tear left to shed.

  24. Nev's evolution, growth and desire to work for a higher purpose has been a pleasure to watch over the years. There's no limit to his ambition and the path he is forging will be long lasting. He could be anything. Love the fella.

  25. Interesting that Jack was the only player to remonstrate with Daniels for flipping Max over the boundary line. Again, its the little things that make big moments. Anyone else get the feeling that Petracca was about to refer to Daniels as a 'midget' but hesitated long enough to say a '5'6" player' instead.

  26. Now that was a brilliant doco despite it's brevity. That gave you the sort of insights that was missing from the Fox doco.

  27. Happy for the pundits and opposition to keep on underestimating him. Their lack of respect helped us win a premiership. May they continue to show such irreverent behaviour towards all our stars.

  28. She is magnificent to listen to. I know I’m bias but it is a goddamn pleasure to have a woman lead my footy club!

  29. I'm pretty sure umpire Gavine was the umpire who failed to pay the obvious deliberate free kick against Adelaide in front of the rabid home fans in our match last year. He has now given a 50m penalty for a player laughing at a replay of a decision - saying that he felt belittled. I would suggest this umpire needs to work on his strength of character so that he can make the right decisions in the big moments no matter the pressure of the situation and doesn't get offended by a player laughing.

  30. If we get more than 70,000 that would be amazing. Having said that every Melbourne supporter I know, both die hard and half arsed are booked in and ready to go for next Wednesday. (Times like these is why I love my reserved seats membership) People are very keen to see the flag unfurling and to enjoy footy in person again. It’s been a very very long time. On both counts.

  31. You obviously have high regard for your mother-in-law, such a worthwhile gesture. I'll let you in on a secret, Dr G - I failed to have the same level of regard for my mother-in-law. She was a classic case, absolutely difficult at the best of times. She has now passed away but still the memories reside. To quote a very truthful joke from Rodney Dangerfield - from several years ago - an apt descriptive might well be: 'My mother-in-law is such a terrible cook and host that we say grace after the meal!'

  32. Watching it now, some emotional moments in there early as they build the story. Also just noticed something about the Max Gawn kick after the siren. Tom Hawkins is VERY CLEARLY moving around on the mark and not adhering to the stand rule. Obviously Max kicked it so the [censored] can suck eggs but only just noticed then, can you imagine if the umpire actually noticed and paid the 50!

  33. Great point. I'd add that the team had multiple examples of the direct experience of fighting their way back to draw on. Without that words of motivation from Goody and max are just that - words. But they knew Max and Goody were right becuase they could draw on their individual and collective experience. Which is why home and away wins like our Brisbane win and of course the round 23 wins, and even the must win games in round 22 and 23 in 2020 that Goody referenced in the fox doco, are so important in terms of winning the ultimate prize.

  34. Also worth mentioning, along with his playing career, his off-field service. Winner of the Jim Stynes Community Leadership award in 2018 "selected for his work supporting indigenous youth through various school-based programs" and also an ambassador for the Red Cross and Headspace. The full package is what makes him a champion. Source: https://www.jimstynesfoundation.com.au/about/jscl-award/

  38. Yes, it was. I think that was part of changing the momentum play Goodwin referred to: Jack intercepted the ball, got it to Harmes whose kick to Fritsch Max said was one of his best ever. Fritsch did what Fritsch does and slotted it. That play inspired the team. Not long after it we had the Brayshaw heroics/goal, Kozzie's brilliant block of Dunkley to enable Petracca's dribble kick to goal. We never looked back after that 5-10 minutes. The brilliant last three goals of the 3rd were 'the nail in the (bulldogs) coffin'. Their spirit was broken.

  40. We have thankfully moved beyond the 'how many stats did such and such have' Thats why we are a good team Having sat in the coaches pre-briefings before I can tell you first hand they don't give a tinkers cuss about how many stats you have. They want pressure, team acts, leading to space, spreading a defence, being accountable for your man etc etc most of which you don't get any statistics for. Its on;y because we now do team things that we have improved out of sight. A focus on personal stats just shows people don't really understand how good teams operate.

  44. I do get that, but wasn't the whole idea of having our very own home base was so that we could finally be one whole club which would include players and administrator staff being in the one precinct and finally be free of having to share facilities with other sporting codes? Which other AFL clubs are sharing facilities with other sporting codes?

  45. Ahh [censored].. I thought last night was good but I reckon this one is better. Wish it went longer. The small snippets of Goody talking during the game is gold. Wish there was more of that. I reckon that's Gus choking back tears at the end.

  46. Seriously trying to remember when Franklin last dominated a game. At least 2-3 years

  47. I suggest this umpire needs to grow a thicker skin. Players are allowed to question or laugh at a poor decision as a way to show frustration. It was a ridiculous free. If the umpire feels belittled by that, it says more about the umpire than the player.

  48. I just watched the reply of this game as it just happened to be on foxtel and those 50 metre penalties plus a lack of intensity from our guys were the main difference. one thing I noticed was how hard Kozzie and ANB work. They do alot of unrewarded running just to put pressure on the opposition to try and cause in turnovers . Their value to the team us much more than goals alone.
