  1. Here's my favorite's from their changes thread lol who gives a sh*t. Can no we also get rid of that big fat bloke in charge of recruiting? Number 1 he’s crap. Number 2 fat = lazy, it sets a bad culture Out: Adam Simpson, Midfield. In: Inanimate Carbon Rod, Witches hats. Seriously, who cares? The players don’t so why should we. We are lost. Out: Darling, OA, Gaff, Sheed In: Blue Wiggle, Baby giraffe, Dicky Knee, inanimate carbon rod. I look forward to another 3 x possession Vardy special, again. To add to his overflowing 3 possession trophy cabinet. Out - me I wish Simmo was my weed dealer when I was broke in high school - the amount of tic I could have built up... I can only imagine the gigantic erection Gary Lyon gets every time he thinks about the demolition job the Dees are going to perform on us. Surely they have him on the comms somewhere to really stick it to us. Jordy Lewis too, I'm sure he'll enjoy it after starting the rot in the '18 prelim. Out me. In cleaning gutters, weeding garden, washing car, sex with wife on footy day. Seriously who the f**k cares anymore The players don't so why the f**k should we ?? Only change I want to see is west play a full four in the midfield. Pathetic campaigners again showing their lack of body work and intent No change, they all absolutely deserve the punsihment in front of a crowd. There can be no hiding. It's going to be a massacre next week, Dees are towelling up the Suns as we speak. Honestly time to just put Edwards, Trew and Johnson in as well give kids a crack see if they show something at AFL level. This no second Ruckman business is such a massive problem for us and I don't think the club has realised that until now. Seeing Gawn and Jackson tear it up for Melbourne today gives me the chills thinking about next week

  2. Incredibly unlucky imo..... I don't doubt what he did was stupid and was a poor look but let's not forget Viney didn't initiate the contact here. The AFL is so inconsistent with these cases he has been dealt the harshest penalty than any like for like case and he was the only one to be dragged and held down by the other player. I think he is incredibly stiff.

  3. Public Service Announcement to compliment = to politely congratulate or praise (someone) for something. "he complimented Erika on her appearance" to complement = to contribute extra features to (someone or something) in such a way as to improve or emphasize their qualities. "a classic blazer complements a look that's smart or casual"

  4. Well, we can remove politician from the list of career choices for Jack post his AFL career. They never apologise.

  8. Not great by Jack. But its not just the media jumping on jack, even dees fans seem to be coming for him. I wonder if that is because so many fans seem ambivalent about him and/or that he is perhaps not the easiest bloke to warm to. I reckon if it was Oliver in the gun he'd be facing fewer hanging judges.

  9. I think it was a silly thing to do and doesn’t look great but the vitriol is way over the top here by some .

  10. The comparison to Phil Hughes is completely incongruous in this case. A hard cricket ball travelling at 145km per hour hitting a specific part of one's head is completely different to a flat part of a forearm pressing over what looks likes the guys ear, cheek and neck. Phil Hughes wasn't strictly hit on the neck either, hence why batsmen now have stem guards on their helmets that cover that lobe below the brain. The fleshy part of the lower neck is still exposed with stem guards. Was it dumb, yes. Unnecessary, absolutely. Lacking leadership, sure. I'll stand with anyone in defending the safety and well being of footballers, however; Collins got up and played the rest of the game. That was the last delivery Phil Hughes ever faced. Try to avoid the hyperbolic comparisons.

  11. Yes I find it amazing that Franklin got off his charge. The ramifications of a flying elbow could be enormous. But that seems to be irrelevant Viney was stupid. But it didn’t warrant 2 weeks

  12. I'm a bit confused, all year it has been about the outcome and not the action, part of which helped to get fritsch off back at the start of the year. Collins was clearly fine, played the rest of the game and hasnt had any delayed symptoms in the days following the game. Big stitch up this.

  13. If cotchin did that he'd end up getting a public apology from collins. Viney gets weeks.

  14. Would Selwood/Lynch/Buddy have gotten away with this? Probably. Maybe. But that doesn't make what Viney did right. Sure, they were wrestling, but only one guy had his elbow on the other's throat/jaw, and that was our VC. We were smashing them, there was no point in this. I want our guys to be 'tough', but not dumb/reckless. This would not be ideal had it happened the week before finals.

  15. My problem with all of this is the sheer inconsistency of the so-called 'Tribunal's' decisions. There is definitely a case of what is good for the goose, is out of bounds for the gander. The history of the decisions handed out by these buffoons posturing as Pontius Pilate is staggering. There are too many instances of one law for certain protected species, another for the rest.

  16. Selwood of course would have been a free man The AFL Tribunal is so corrupt, they don’t even hide it anymore

  17. Regardless of what happens now, this stupid act from Viney has added unnecessary distraction to an already compromised preparation for a very important game. [censored] poor leadership.

  18. Oh FFS. This incident gets worse and worse as every person tries to one up the previous one with the descriptions and comparisons... I heard Viney tried to rip out his voice box as the poor defenceless 194cm, 100kg small child was desperately trying to call out for help to his family who Viney had already abducted and had tied up in his boot... Deserves the chair. Nothing less. AFL should also strip as of our premiership points.

  19. I’m worried. They are under immense pressure to perform and they’ll want to put a better performance in front of their home crowd for fear of copping the booing.

  20. I love the way Jack plays the game. If the critics take the time to watch the whole sequence in real time they will note that two free kicks to Jack were ignored immediately prior to any elbow/forearm contact. They should also be aware that the action that lead to him being found guilty was brief, greatly magnified by the slow-mo used by the Media.

  22. That seems fair, now everybody get off his back, the dislike for Viney in this forum is so disappointing & shows why we are the most fickle & soft supporters in the AFL

  24. That a load of crap, 2 weeks for a "bad look" well good luck defining a "bad look" AFL make this crap up as they go, they are a joke. Geelong have played their last 4 "home finals" (which itself is a joke) at the MCG... I'll bet anything you like if they get a home final against us it'll be down there. Sick of being the push overs, hope someone takes a stand against this crap, we constantly ask players to take a stand on weekends yet the leaders of this club just lube themselves up to make it easier on AFL house ARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!

  25. ...but was the video conclusive. I hope they got a better video than the one doing the rounds on the footy shows last night. You couldn't make a decision based on that surely? No evidence from Collins, no evidence from an umpire? I would have given him a week for being a DH but not sure about the charge of contact with the neck.

  26. When I first saw it it looked pretty bad. 2 weeks is about right. Don't care for comparisons to other incidents. You'll end up driving yourself mad

  27. This is sarcasm yes? Surely... References cited below... Collins initiated it. Viney was about to be off to the next play when Collins dragged him down by the jumper with two hands. It's a wrestle. The sad thing is, the outrage machine has well and truly kicked in now and he'll likely get a worse punishment than he deserves. The references to George Floyd by some today are appallingly bad, a ridiculous stretch and frankly pretty insulting to that situation and it's context.

  29. I'm a reasonably keen MFC supporter who lives in Bayside and Casey is "too far away" for me to visit on anything more than an occasional basis. I think a more central location is more accessible for the majority of players and fans. I'm fine with Casey as a component of our set-up. The ground is full-size, the surface seems good and the gyms etc are apparently state-of-the art. But I don't think it's an attractive primary location for player attraction and retention. I think Geelong is a special case. It seems St.Kilda couldn't get Frankston to work and have moved back to Moorabbin. I think somewhere like Caulfield racecourse would be fine in that arose but AAMI Park is the best alternative.

  30. I think the training ground upgrade is important news for a number of reasons: A full size is required for effective drills and zones Re-surfacing should help remove the injury risk that the current compressed surface presents - I heard from a very good source that this was the direct cause of injuries to players last year I think that training mostly at Casey is a long-term negative for attracting and retaining players because it's too far away. I think it's fine to be part of the program but not the core of the program The location reinforces the concept that we'll ultimately be in the MCG precinct

  31. I’m shocked at how everyone is casually overlooking this - it is clear as day. I get that he didn’t have to put his elbow there but he wanted to be let go so he could move onto the next contest. he is getting crucified by everyone which is disappointing. If Collins at any point was under duress he would have let go and Viney would have moved on.

  33. So [censored] ropeable right now. The contrasting outcomes between Jack and Lance Franklin is a [censored] disgrace. The only potential upside is that we can now micro manage Jacks training regime in the run-up to finals, get him cherry ripe ready to tear some opposition on-ballers a new one.

  34. I genuinely believe this was a good ol stitch up. The AFL handed down orders for Christiansen to pass this straight onto the AFL... possibly as one poster has said, because of the Fritsch incident against Norf or the half a dozen other incidents from other teams that resulted in fines etc. Why we end up being that club... is it luck? i hardly think so - we are easy pickings and probably dont have any relevant authority or Melbourne people in the commission or AFL management. Hopefully Viney's fires right up and comes out swinging (metaphorically unless of course he was Hawkins or Franklin) against the Cats in 3 weeks time.

  35. This is a forum for discussion. Last time I checked you’re free to put me on ignore. Just because someone doesn’t agree with your views doesn’t make it a carry on or laughable. You carrying on that there was nothing in it has been proven wrong. We’ve now lost our vice captain for 2 weeks. Whether you agree with the decision or not, it was a dumb thing for Jack to do and put us in that position as a club. I doubt anyone at the club would disagree with that assessment. No need to respond. I don’t give a single [censored] about what you think about my thoughts.

  37. What Viney need to do was get up, drag Collins to the boundary line, climb the fence and drop the peoples elbow on him. It’s ok to elbow guys in the head.
    4 points
  38. Surely the onus is on the prosecution to call Collins to testify that contact was made to the neck? And presumably they didn't call him for a reason. Only two people know exactly where contact was made, and Viney has said it was to the jaw. Without conflicting evidence, surely that has to be taken in good faith?

  41. He's by far out toughest player with AVB, Harmes and maybe May a bit further back. He's definitely out of form, body doesn't look right. Looks perhaps a bit top heavy and legs aren't conditioned perhaps. But he still gives so much aggression and hard work inside especially defensively. I feel like he and Harmes are asked to play on the edge through the middle of the ground. Be intimidating and hurt when you tackle. It doesn't surprise me that this happens when a player is playing on the edge like he is that you cross the line every now and then. Not a good look but slow mid week news will go nuts with it as per usual. All the best players have their ugly moments (e.g. Judd). I worry a bit about Jack though. At times doesn't look too happy. His body language isn't great. I hope its more frustration with his body as apposed to anything else within the team and role etc. He forced quite a bit on the weekend and looked agitated so again this doesn't surprise me.

  43. You've never seen a player get into a scuffle on the field and push their forearm/hand down onto someone's face? Come on, it might deserve a fine but people talking about multiple weeks and causing serious injury are kidding themselves I don't see it as dirty, gouging someones eye like Selwood did a few weeks back is dirty. Hitting someone when they're not looking is dirty. Stomping someone is dirty. Pushing someones face after they've pulled you down so you can't get on with the game is flirting with the rules and probably deserves a fine but the carry on here is like a knitting circle working themselves up into hysteria. I noticed it when it happened and pretty sure the umpire didn't even deem it worthy of a free kick. If people didn't already have a bee in their bonnet about Viney I'm sure it'd be nothing to see here. If May did this I guarantee the reaction would be much different.

  44. Oh come on. Forearm pushing someone down on the side of the face vs a cricket ball hitting you in the neck at 135km/hour This is getting ridiculous
    4 points
  45. Why? He deliberately pushed his elbow into the neck of an opponent. It was not accidental, it was deliberate and dangerous. If someone did that to Oliver you would be calling for their head. It is a totally unnecessary act when we try to protect the head. The intention behind it means he will get at least a week. So good luck to him getting back into the side.
