People will pick on Hunt but FMD there are 18 players out there who did SFA today. At least Hunt tried to do something.26 points

Anyone putting blame on Hunt for trying a bit too hard to win us the game after everyone else did SFA all day needs to sit in a corner.25 points

Don’t get the hate for Petty. Played on Himmelberg who is a very good player and kept him to 1 goal. Sometimes supporters can’t see the forest from the trees. He is not an issue. He’s doing as well as can be expected for a kid who played 11 games going into this season. Eleven. He’s holding down CHB. I repeat. Eleven. Move on. Nothing to see here.19 points

Sad thing is Hunt gave more in the last quarter up forward than Spargo, Pickett and ANB did the whole game and he gets pinned 3 times. Back yourself mate and have a shot at the end.16 points
-
Bit harsh on the calls to drop Hunt. When the game was in the balance he was trying to lift us. He got done holding the ball twice. One of them was a joke where he had no prior opportunity and the other he took 2 bounces but had no options because our forward line isn't functioning yet.14 points

When you lose by under two goals of course it can be argued that Ben Brown could have been the difference today. But this loss was on the midfield. They got smashed today. One of the worst games I’ve been from Trac and Oliver. Harmes his usual wasteful self. Viney a non starter.13 points

Maybe what we need is a player in the forward line whose job it is to kick goals and that’s it….13 points

I shall be leaving the warm embrace of The Manor for only my second live game this year. And ........ I fully expect to see a comfortable victory. We shall have clear winners on every line and , the middle of the road Dwarfs, simply will not have the answers. No trains from Scumbury today so I shall give the Merc an airing. The Maid shall be left in charge (temporarily of course ) to oversee the victory celebrations. Dees by 26.13 points

This isn't correct, at all. GWS didn't "work us out". Lever and May both took 5 intercept marks (for comparison, Davis took 4 and Haynes 3). GWS didn't "work out" how to break down our defence. They scored 9.10.64, their second lowest score for the season and fourth lowest number of scoring shots. 19 scoring shots against is right about our average, too. This wasn't lost because they "worked out" how to break down our defence, this was lost because we couldn't get our hands on the ball in the middle and we couldn't kick goals from the time we did spend in our forward half.12 points

Lol now I’ve seen it all. I was at the game. We made plenty of noise in the last quarter to help the team. You know what we didn’t do? Select a non existent forwardline and struggle to win clearances. Jesus Christ let’s blame us supporters for putting up with a mediocre club for 60 damn years.12 points

As much as I love him, Hunt reminds me of Frost sometimes… incredible speed and gains a lot of metres but has the footy IQ of a goldfish12 points

The positive spin is that we were slaughtered in the midfield but still generated more inside 50s and scoring shots than our opponent, and only lost by 9 points despite playing significantly below our 2021 best. But we can't keep kicking to an outsized forward line and then missing the shots we do generate and expect to win. Hunt's three HTBs were frustrating and at least once he should have passed it but put it in context. Having played in the back half all season, he's asked to play forward in the fourth quarter because the three small forwards we've relied on all year were nowhere, particularly the quickest one of the lot, Pickett. The focus here is obvious. It's very difficult to wrestle momentum back when the opposition walks it out of most stoppages. We couldn't get a run of goals on because too many times after one of our goals we'd immediately cough up the next centre clearance. And then there's the forward line. It's becoming increasingly clear to me now that we were sucked in by the 6-0 start with this forward line. It was a correlation but not causation - this forward line was not the reason we were winning those games. We cannot continue this way. It's time for Ben Brown to be played alongside TMac and Fritsch. That means we go taller and slower but on current form that is what needs to be done. If you're going to rip into Hunt, give it to Harmes too. He cannot help but step into tackles when he shouldn't. Infuriating. Viney's either unfit or out of form, or both, and it's badly showing. Why are we playing Sparrow if he's only on the field for 55% of the time each week? Salem, Lever and May all outstanding yet again, Jackson's playing at a level well, well above his age or experience, and a welcome return to goalkicking form from Fritsch (although his missed snap in the third was a momentum killer). We have shown all year we play our best football against the best sides. Thursday night is a prime opportunity to get this season back on track. Big test, but big stakes.11 points

Yep. 25 goals in last 3 games against bottom sides. Average 8 goals a game. Yep forward line functioning beautifully.11 points

-15 In clearances More scoring shots. More inside 50s. More contested possessions. One less free kick. This is all on the midfield and [censored] kicking for goal, again11 points

We lost this at selection. Our fwd line has been struggling for weeks and we arrogantly do nothing about it.10 points

Gawn was not intimidated by Mumford. He was illegally getting smashed by Mumford while 3 umpires stood by and watched. He has every right to demand half the protection the likes of Selwood and Bont get. He’s as good a player!9 points

The last holding the ball for Hunt, you could tell he wanted options. We were too static for large periods today9 points

So let me get this straight - Hunt is to blame for his dare and run that ended with him failing to find a target?? This one is on Goodwin and co. - as good as they have been - if Hunt is your engine - work within his limitations and give him someone to kick long to. Fritsch is not a FF and yet we are trying to play this cute game on the counterattack that won’t cut it in finals and is now being found out by also rans. I thought we could keep top 2 but now we must see if we can stay in the 4 or this start will be utterly wasted. Simply wasted. 8 point game next week.9 points

A big day ahead for the club having made the brave decision not to select its big name forward recruit in the week following a 5 goal haul. Demons - just do it!9 points
-
Hunt was obviously sent forward with instructions to take the game on, which he did . Playing a role he hasn't done all year we where chasing the game, shouldn't have been in that position9 points
-
We've shown glimspes of it if games for a month or so, but today we delivered 4 quarters of soft football. We even looked scared of contact, panic handballing dumb little passes to someone 30cm away. Clearances 39 to 24. Tell me again how we don't need to worry about them.9 points
-
Sadly this is going to prove to be the game that costs us Top 4. We'll drop to 5th when Port beat us. Still have West Coast in Perth and Geelong in the Cattery after that. [censored]. This is a slightly modified 2017 all over again. BBB would have easily been able to milk a couple of frees or take a couple of marks on the lead and that's the difference right there, but the arrogance of Goodwin has cost us big time.9 points
-
Oh well who wants to finish top 4 anyway. Our midfield should be ashamed of that performance. Viney has to get dropped. He’s a liability. Pickett likewise.9 points
-
Agree with all of that, but having a 203 cm proven forward, who can at least bring it to ground if he doesn’t grab it, does several things for the team,. It stops the opposition defenders marking it every time and playing on and scoring. It brings Pickett and Spargo into the contest. It takes pressure off Fritta and Tom Mac. It straightens up the mids going forward, eliminating some of the sideways ball mistakes at the same time. It gives us a better chance of a forward 50 mark and goal, especially when a tall Defender goes off early in the game and then late in the game, when the opposition are out on their feet and we are bombing it forward without success.8 points
-
I hope that [censored] hurts. This pattern of not starting will hurt us more as the season continues. Teams will know to come out hard, get a lead and try to hang on until the end of the game. Most teams will be willing to back their backline to hold us late. All season this happened and it all starts with a lack of intensity in the midfield. T Mc is a mobile CHF, let him play as one, but FFS we can't rely on Fritta to be our primary target in the forward line. Brown needs to come into the side and if not play one of Gawn or Jackson out of the square. Backline was good again today, all our issues are forward of centre.8 points

Another ugly win would have covered the cracks again, you cannot pick and choose when to go in this league. personnel changes is required, our midget forward line isn’t working, our star midfield aren’t hard enough when required. changes next week and a brutal [censored] review Goodwin [censored] I’m annoyed!! At that pathetic effort.8 points

Hunt was the engine in the last ten minutes. The real problem was, tactically, we asked Hunt to do more than his skills can allow him to do. For whatever reason - our run and share in packs went away today and to blame Hunt is to blame those that stick their head up and try as opposed to those that were stuck back, worried about what will be if they eff it up. Drop Hunt and we have no idea with selection. Drop those that are too lazy, or tired, or out of form and not getting the footy.7 points

Less than 10 goals for the 3rd week in a row. Forward selection, unchanged. Unfathomable.7 points

GWS may be 10th but they are a good side and they played very very well. Their midfield is absolutely elite and destroyed us inside and on the outside. Absolute credit to them.7 points

If I hear Goodwin say that not having our forward line mix set is "a good problem to have", I'll go ape. It's a terrible problem to have.7 points

Spargo and Pickett need a tall forward to rove off. The Ben Brown non selection was a mistake in hindsight.7 points

My favourite non Dees player is Toby Greene. A mongrel, rat cunning, Rolls Royce player. The perfect blend of steel and silk. If we can contain him we go a long way to winning the game. May to get the job for mine. Our defence was back to its domineering best last week. I expect a similar strangulation today. GWS are the type of opponent we have struggled against. We need to be switched on for this. Hoping to see Viney crack in and inflict some pain. If we kick straight, a 5-6 goal win. If we don’t, another nervous 10 point win6 points

Heres hoping our fwd line boots enough. I think they will. Sadly i have a covid vax at half time. But suppose I am grateful. Go Dees. How good is footy to cheer up this Nsw lockdown we have here.6 points
