  2. Only the fifth time Buddy has been held scoreless in his whole career

  3. Harmes was great. it's easy to get excited about the shiny and new (Sparrow), but sometimes the old and worn in is just what you need. I thought he was awesome. May was HUGE.

  4. Clarry was bloody immense in that last quarter! Absolute star

  5. Imagine if you said at half time in the match thread that you thought that the best setup was to have Tom McDonald in defence? Won us the game with that mark and goal. I might have to dust Plugger off again. That was by far the most tough opponent we've had. Definitely not the prettiest win but I'd argue the most satisfying one yet.

  6. If there’s a better sight in football than Ronald Dale Barassi singing Grand Old Flag then I don’t need to know about it.

  8. I've figured it out. There's an in-joke that I'm not part of, to always just say "drop Melksham" irrespective of how he plays or how the game plays out. That's the only explanation for it.

  9. Tomald said he had a point to prove to the club and the AFL, point taken sir… point taken!!

  11. Ummm he was leading the 1%, he held Buddy goalless. I bet he will feature strongly in the coaches votes. He. Is. A. Star.

  13. Bloody wives always complaining... "Have a shave" "mow the lawns" "stop drinking Drambuie at 7am in the morning"

  14. Can't understate this enough. He's a critical part of our midfield rotation and whilst Jordon and Harmes were good in spurts, Viney's defensive work in the stoppages is vital.

  15. I'm going (have gone) on record to say I'm sticking fat with Harrison Petty, irrespective of Tom McDonald being an awesome forward again. He's young and inexperienced key defender, but given the chance to settle and develop cohesion with May and Lever, he WILL deliver.

  19. It’s a very different feeling being a Demons supporter this season. I am torn between being elated at the string of successes and worried sick that the wheels will fall off! I find it really difficult to be confident although on form, we should win easily tonight. I still don’t think we have played an entire game of our very best footy and hope that comes out soon. In the interim, I am always on edge on game days and having to wait another 12 hours now to see the boys take on the Bloods is already starting to annoy me. I find an early shot of Drambuie takes the edge off. My wife doesn’t agree though. Funny that....

  20. James Jordan still yet to lose a game. He must be loving AFL footy

  21. Some of Charlie Spargos efforts in that last qtr were first class. Won’t get stats for them but went a long way to stopping their run. Brilliant stuff! TMac was huge tonight and Steven Mays shutdown on Buddy as good as it gets.

  22. You can't be someone who was upset during the Gameday thread and not be in here in raptures with that win. We dug deep when we needed to and although we didn't cash in on our dominance in the middle two quarters as much as we should have, we remained really tough to play against and put Sydney, a top 4 side, off their game. They lifted immensely from when we hit the 22 point margin. They moved it quicker, took us on more directly, and opened up the ground more. But despite everything they threw at us, they didn't get in front. Which means that's 8 straight games in which we have not been behind at any stage in the fourth quarter (although that was the first fourth quarter we've lost). Oliver and TMac were the big stars. I thought Harmes was poor early but his fourth quarter was really good. Brown's first half was really important, and as TMac said in the post-match interview the two of them were more in sync tonight than last week. May good on Buddy but I reckon he was clearly unfit. Also loved Rivers' game. Petty struggled but IMO we have to keep playing him to work on that synergy with Lever and May.

  25. I already mentioned this in the votes thread, but a most dishonorable mention to Luke Darcy for referring to James Jordon as Jordon Jones several times on the telecast. Sharpen up or get out of the way of the many thousands of footy fans who'd love to be on the money you're on, who actually know the players names. Muppet.

  26. Oliver and Tomald match winners. I wanted Tomald to go back, I was wrong about that, but I’m not a fan of Petty at all. Looks a level below everyone. Jomes Jerdan was great, hard at it. Looks like he’ll end up one of those reliable, tough accumulators. Love Spargo’s work rate, that checkside was so cool in traffic. I didn’t mind Melksham’s game, did some nice things. Love how Gawn stepped up and said ok Hickey, that’s enough I can’t stand Papley, worst celebrations in sport. May ?

  27. The club’s momentum was disrupted early last week against North Melbourne but the younger players stood tall and steadied the ship in the second half. The task is to continue in that vein tonight against a team that has for years maintained mastery over us on our own home turf.

  32. Tom "Terrific" Ripper Ripper Game. Cometh the moment. Cometh the man. Kicked some 'clutch' goals tonight to deny the swannies, back to his best footy. Where are all the self-appointed drop Tom brigade now?

  38. Enjoyed the games of Harmes and Jordon so far. Harmes has justified his selection and Jordon continues to improve. Benny Brown looks more of an aerial threat today compared to last week. Dees by 30.

  39. I spent the game in the Swannies sponsors box. Wore my Demons gear proudly and pumped with the result despite the grind. That was a HUGE win for this team. Top 4 side, close game, tested until the final siren. 8-0 is unbelievable. So proud of the boys. This is a new feeling, I haven’t enjoyed footy this much in 39 years. I also won 2 hampers and had a good chat to Dees alumni Luke Williams (for those who remember him) so a pretty great night ?

  40. Alex Georgiou destroying Buddy in 2014 was definitely a win in my books.

  41. Petty was poor but IMO should hold his spot to work on his connection with the others in the backline. Brayshaw's positioning was excellent but his disposal poor. Wouldn't drop him, though. Melksham was significantly better this week than last week. Not the week to be calling for his head if you don't like him. Harmes' fourth quarter was important so I'd keep him but I'm far from convinced. So all of that said, may be no change.

  48. They were good, but on the other hand the opposition looked poor. Fumbled from the first Q (Lynch started the rot) and panicked as the game went on. A long season and an ageing list for both these teams... It's going to be a war of attrition, could well be a Bradbury season. I hope we can keep a solid list on the park. If we do we're as good a chance as any.

  49. I kinda like seeing the Tigers drop back down to earth, but must Geelong continue to just not go away? I cannot stand that club. When will they just die of old age already?!
