Nice to see Paul Roos and Jetta having a chat. Genuinely hope we keep Jetta around the club after this season. A champion human.27 points

This afternoon the Club tabled an offer to CP that if accepted would essentially make him a Demon for life. Stay alert as the offer is so attractive, we might get a prompt acceptance.14 points

If you told me 12 months ago I'll be cheering for Ben Brown I would have told you to get stuffed. One of my most disliked player from my most disliked team. But gees I really like him now in red and blue. Speak so well, amazing goal kicker, and how about that marvellous hair!10 points

Sparrow was fantastic as was Weideman. He needs to come in next week. Harmes was honestly average for me. I see nothing that suggest he'll add much to our side anytime soon. I get more satisfaction in James Jordon and Sparrow at AFL level now that I do with Harmes. Chandler and Bedford were buzzing around the half forward and their work rate was huge. Jake Bowey has a serious serious kick on him.9 points

If we play the Lions on Friday Night 4th of June it means our Queens Birthday match against the Pies is Monday the 14th June giving us a 10 day break after the NT. We then have the Bye the following week before playing Essendon.9 points

Nash I think you'll be genuinely surprised now the coaching shift in this regard. I got a glimpse into this in the NAB league where coaches are putting a huge amount of emphasis into what you're doing when you don't have the footy. They're big now on pressure acts, tackles, perceived pressure etc. How many kicks and handballs you get is almost irrelevant because now it's all about keeping your job simple, and nailing the basics. I know this has been a challange for kids in the NAB league because they're so use to just dominating in their age group, but they're getting taught about the basic fundamentals of what you do when you don't have the footy and how that can still impact the team in a huge way. Recruiters and AFL coaches are big on this and its now filtering down the under 18's so that it's ingrained in them when they step into AFL environment. This is why the coaches wouldn't give a stuff how many kicks or handballs Spargo gets. The bigger emphasis on him would be how much pressure and tackling he's applying and locking the ball in the forward 50. Imo Spargo is elite alongside ANB and Pickett in this area and this would be praised highly by the coaches when they're reviewing their games. Spargo's role might also not be there to kick goals as well. If he's doing the defensive stuff right, he'sthen that allows the likes of Fritta, McDonald, Pickett, Petracca to do their work offensively. Hope that makes sense.9 points

Jeez, Rivers is a good, calm ball user. I think he's started slowly this year, but this was definitely his best game for the year. He's a cracker. Thank you, Jason Taylor.9 points

When we first recruited big Ben Brown, I showed my 5yo son the video highlights of him kicking all the goals for North and he instantly became his favorite MFC player. So much so, that when I bought my son a new MFC jumper the other week, he wanted the No.50 on the back, which he has hardly taken off since I bought it for him, without BBB even playing a senior game for the mighty Demons. Little guy will be absolutely stoked to watch him run out for us on Sunday as I will too. We've been pretty good even without an elite FF this season and I'm hoping that with BBB about to step in an dominate the forward 50 arc, that will take us to the next level again. Looking forward to those go go gadget arms marking everything in sight and the big fella slotting through some big bags of goals for the MFC over the next few seasons. ...might even be a few more MFC No.50 jumpers running around out there over the next few years.8 points

I absolutely wouldn’t, the bloke has done nothing but have cracks at the club since he left. He deserves to finish out his career in the bottom 4 (hopefully with no crowds watching).8 points

One eyed supporter calling it early but I reckon we are looking at another draft nailed. Rosman and Bowey have class written all over them.7 points

Nah Mono, he was quite good the whole match. Took 10 marks and smashed several packs... hit them hard. Kid had a really good game regardless of the quality of opposition. He looks a different player to last year. While im at it, i thought Chandler showed some real silk as well. Rosman has a gigantic tank and looks a perfect prospect for a wing. I thought the hype was OTT, but he actually did very well for a young bloke with so little experience. P.S. despite what the commentators said, i thought Sparrow had a much better game than Harmes, and the Beanpole Bradke gave it his all and wasnt useless. Majak early was right on top in the guts too. Easy to look good in a 107 point win, but this is what we should be dong to keep pressure on the senior players.7 points

The expectant hush as the players take their positions. The growing roar of the crowd as the umpire moves in for the opening bounce. The explosion of barracking as the siren announces the start of play. All part of the game, and taken away from us by some [censored]ing idiots who don't love or understand any of this, and imagine we're all cretins who need constant stimulation. We can listen to ear splitting rock music any time. We can listen to second rate radio announcers any time. We don't come to the football for that.7 points

Great decision. Firstly he’s the only player on the list to have won a game at that ground. Secondly he’s the only player on the list who I would want kicking for goal to save my life. Thirdly he’s too good to play for a VFL team. My kingdom for a forward no more!7 points

Not all. On SEN. Former Western Bulldogs captain Bob Murphy “absolutely loved” Pickett's aggression as the Demons announced themselves a premiership contender. “This is the young upstart, this is a team that is discovering who they are and what they might be, taking on the champs and not being overawed, and getting in their face, and being a little bit cocky, and being a little bit arrogant,” Murphy told SEN’s Bob and Andy. “That’s going to upset a lot of people, Melbourne have been in the doldrums for a long, long time, they’re trying to change who they are. “I absolutely loved it.”7 points

He was unbearable at North. The hair, the 50 metre run up, the cheap frees in front of goal, the marking every [censored] ball that was within 10 feet of him, the never missing a set shot. How good are all those things now? ?6 points

Just remember Goodwin has gone through a pretty significant family upheaval. As someone that's gone through that myself it can be a pretty traumatic experience. I was lucky there were no kids involved whereas he's got 2 I believe? For all we know, there could potentially be an ongoing issue. We just need to be mindful and respectful of his current situation.6 points

I am comfortable if he is being managed, but it feels like if we drop him after his 300th that he was 'gifted it' somewhat which isn't a great look. Just a simple comment that we might manage him through interstate games and it was all part of the plan should suffice as an answer if it comes to that. (but managed should be not playing @ Casey either)6 points
-
We wouldn't trade for him because we don't need him now but it's a myth he left for money. He wanted to stay at MFC with his mates but we didn't want him. That may or may not have been justified but the decision was ours, he didn't walk out. Secondly anyone who thinks he's not a really good player is building a rhetoric to lessen the disappointment of him leaving. He is a fantastic player and had he not suffered injury would probably have been AA. He's one of my favourite players to watch outside MFC. Skill, poise and plays the game in the way it should be played.6 points

Yep, cracking episode and fully support the push for better access to stats and more deep-level tactical anlysis. @Fanatique Demon, between you, the bloke who called up from Brussels (happy up coming birthday chap) and a few of us here in Amsterdam, we have the old Frankish realm MFC supporter base covered ?6 points

Good question. No. Our current glue is a selfless team ethos. That is not Howe's style. Let him stay at Collingwood to languish at the bottom if the ladder, where he can take his hangers before turning it over to the opposition and I don't have to care about it.6 points

Weideman and Brown is by far the best combination at AFL level. I'd hate to lose Weideman due to McDonald's good form. Hats off to McDonald, but Weideman will be a better AFL forward and IS the future.5 points

I have no idea where Harmes fits in our side Jordon is proving he is just as good if not better than Harmes on the inside. If Jordon could hit the scoreboard that would be huge, but I like his role5 points

Or we could do it the old fashioned way and both WB and the Dees go undefeated until our Round 11 clash and then we beat them percentage be damned.5 points

Bringing Brown in is gonna cause some structural shift. Unless you drop LJ & Brown contributes in the ruck. Neither of which is on. So Brown forward, Melksham Casey and TMac to take over Melksham's "connector" role which is essentially a large part of what he's been doing anyway. We lose Melk's distribution skills but TMac gets the ball more, is a more obvious target & far better in the air. He kicks fairly low & flat into the forward line so that may be to our advantage. He'll throw in the odd howler but who doesn't. This gives the least disruption to our structure. I've no idea how to fit Weid in at this stage5 points
