  2. If the AFL is serious about gambling abuse they should look at the hideous amount of gambling advertisements everywhere across all platforms they control.

  3. Squad is training at Gosch’s now. Mitch Brown, Petty and Hibbo in the squad.

  4. Looks like Petty for May Hibbo for Jetta M Brown for Fritsch. Brown trained with the forwards, Petty, Hibbo with the backs.

  5. Petty is a definite starter and he was always going to be. I found it hard to believe that some Posters didn’t have him coming in this week. Despite there being a natural vacancy, he absolutely needs this game before being even more required against the Tigers next week.

  8. I think its a one off due to the AFLW grand final which starts at 2pm. No mens games scheduled to avoid over-shadowing the womens big day. Fair enough i reckon. Any other other Saturday and i would agree with you.

  9. I still think the best thing they can do for footy is to expand back to a true seconds competition, for the full AFL competition. The distance in quality between AFL and VFL means that kids need to develop at the top level, lowering the overall standard again. Each team to have 2 squads, a small AFL available squad (~32) with a maximum number of under 20s and secondary reserve/development squad (another ~25 players). Interchange between the squads allowed on long term inuries or limited other occasions. Due to the limited AFL squad, it will encourage clubs to develop kids in the reserves competition and keep the best players in the main squad. Raising the standard of the AFL matches (less developing players in AFL). The ability to interchange between lists should encourage clubs to keep the best non-AFL players in the country on their lists, raising the standed of the seconds competition and therefore the AFL too.

  12. I’m surprised about Jetta and a little disappointed. But overall it was always going to be hard to replace our best forward and our best defender.

  14. Good selections, Hibbs has experience and needs to cement his place, reads the ball very well and will back up Lever for getting to the ball drop. Petty for his contested marking ability. Has been in the system for a while, and could work well under General Lever. Mitch Brown to give us a leading target, hoping for 2 to 4 goals. Majak must have been close as he is the emergency. Our balance still looks good. The depth we have is fine. Go Dees.

  19. I’ll play. Freo are complete garbage in Melbourne, Saints are a rabble, GWS had no one on the bench and Geelong should be 0-4. You can only beat what’s in front of you, dogs have been very impressive.

  20. I believe Jetta may not be 100%. His family has been sick so he may be a little unwell. Either way, I hope to see him back in the side soon.

  31. For all the horrible list management decisions we made around the Bailey/ Neeld era, most of the players we willingly let go never played well elsewhere. Martin was the exception - I never understood why we let him walk at the time, and it looks like an even worse decision in hindsight. He's been a seriously underrated player for a long time.

  33. Well, I guess that makes 3 Liberal MPs in WA today. Seriously, that bloke makes me sick. Such a phoney. Wouldn't know what an Ausie rules ball is from a soccer ball. Sort of guy who would pretend to be interested in all the things you are just to try to look popular and hang with the cool kids.

  41. If De Goey and Howe are both out for an extended period, the odds of upcoming matches (like next week v essendon, the sun's the week after) or even odds on Brownlow betting, could shift. If Howe or De Goey told their family "yeah we're both injured for at least a month", their is a risk of betting with insider trading info, before it is publicly releases. That's the issue here, not "will they gamble".

  42. i wouldn't say that. more like we have lacked a bit of accuracy infront of goals very pleased how boys have played out games without letting up

  43. Injuries cruelled his career like many others. Very ordinary behaviour off-field so hopefully he has copped on to himself and can make a go of life post footy. It’s a poisoned chalice being No.1. Not sure I’d want my boy or girl to go at that selection. They’re just kids thrust into the spotlight and have the hopes and dreams of a whole fanbase projected onto them. I’d hate living in that fishbowl and under that kind of intense scrutiny. Really feel for Rowell in particular. Burst onto the scene looking the real deal, future brownlow and 300-gamer. 2 serious injuries back to back is a big worry. I really hope he has some luck, gets himself right and can play an extended period of footy.

  45. Two of those teams are out of the 8 only on %. If we lost those 4 games those teams would be 7th, 8th, 9th and 11th. They are where they are on the ladder because we beat them and in doing so we hurt their %. It is worth noting that two of the teams we have beaten played in 2020 finals and one in the GF. I guess if we lose on Sunday and go 5-0 we can add 17th to that list and you will say we still haven't beaten any decent teams! I fully understand your reticence but maybe its time to give credit to where credit is due.
