  1. What an emotionally draining season that was. Felt like it was never going to end.

  2. Deja Vu! Non existent delivery into a non existent forward line I don’t think it’s an ability issue so much as a structural issue. I have lost confidence in Goodwin Did we learn nothing from the 2018 Prelim ?

  3. People potting OMac clearly went into the match with a pre-conceived idea and outcome. He played well today against one of the best 2 pronged forward lines in the competition. Not a star, but was very solid down back today. Lockhart was great - he can hopefully play the whole season down back this year. Kossie - he has 'IT'; a quality that we haven't had at the club for a longtime. No matter what happens with the draft this year, we made the right choice trading into the first round with North - he's gonna be a player. Bedford - great pace and pressure. Not completely convinced, but showed that he could be a contributor. May - didn't stand out with the ball in hand, but blanketed Kennedy, and that hasn't happened very often before. Viney - responded brilliantly. Captaincy aside, he is playing like he was before his injury. He's completed a pre-season and now he's showing us the form and ability that won him the Best and Fairest and the captaincy in the first place.

  4. If someone had told me six weeks ago that we would be one game from top place at the end of May, I would have taken it.

  5. Yeah, don't care about the game at all now. Couldn't care less if we win by 100 or lose by 100. Far more important things going on in our country to worry about than footy. Put it on the back burner and focus on those who are ill, at risk and struggling for work. Get everything right first. I hope everyone on Demonland is doing okay during this tough time. Let's make sure we all stick together here. Love you all.

  6. I really hope you aren't serious 'Werridee', if you are you have a lot more problems that the virus.

  7. Rubbish performance, but just wanted to stress how good Viney was. A preseason article even went as far to suggest he would “be a liability”, absolute lol at the clown who wrote that article.

  8. If we can take anything out of 2020, it's that WERRIDEE has won the worst post for the year award in March. I don't think it can be topped.

  10. It's maudlin, but it's true. If this kicks off like it has in Europe, this will be the last season of footy for some DeeLanders. Forced retirement, not 4 to 6. I'm not quite sure what we can do to look after each other; we share a love for this Club and have endured together through so much [censored]. I saw a flag in '64, but I'm not sure my son will. It might just be worth checking in on each other once in a while. If you get crook, you might like to let DL know. We are, as they say, all in this together, and the odd (queue @Bitter but optimistic) message might lift the spirits. This isn't a drill. Stay safe. Stay at home. Go Dees.

  13. Well, I found that disappointing. Anyone else find that disappointing?

  14. This is why you don’t make a video over Summer, explaining how much you have improved, before the season starts. the opposition love it.

  15. Season should never have started in the first place. Was both irresponsible and hypocritical.

  16. Nah, go hard as, they all have 4 to 6 to get over any injuries. Make the trip worthwhile, far from a junk game, show how hard you worked for this season.

  17. I know this could be a pretty messy season, but gee I'd love to be round 1 winners for once and then get off to a flyer, even if just to build belief and an expectation within to group that we are capable of it for future seasons. Go the mighty Demons.

  18. I must be one of the few not surprised by the selection of Mitch Brown ahead of Weideman. Sam has been a disappointment for mine. A few flashes of brilliance in 2018 haven’t transitioned into even general consistency. Maybe the selection of Brown might give the young bloke a wake up call? I hope so. We’ve had a few “gunna” key forwards over the years. I always think of David Cordner for some reason.... On Brown, I reckon he is a very smart pick up. A flexible tall with footy smarts who can run (and came for free) is not something to be sneezed at. Might be a tad underrated too.

  20. They got told 30 mins before the game the season was on hold (but in reality likely finished). They are on the other side of the country in a ghost town (even when not under semi lock down). Talk here on dl that they had to move hotels. They face a 12 hour trip home. They are by and large a bunch of young guys. Agree. Let's cut them some slack.

  22. Pickett, Viney, Lockhart and Bedford were the positives.. Where was our leaders? McDonald, Jetta, Melksham? Hibberd is finished, see ya. And im afraid to say, but Jetta is just about cooked. ANB and Spargo are dead set suburban footballers.

  23. Kozzy though. One player I’m definitely looking forward to seeing a lot more of. Bedford did some nice things towards the end too.

  27. As someone whose only real source of income and pleasure, is performing in a band, we’ve had all bookings cancelled (3 just this week alone) as venues are now shutting up shop. I know numerous others in the same boat and I can’t help but think that as we’re not registered businesses, there will be little to no support from government agencies; it’s a shame they don’t look back just a couple of months at who it was that were giving up their time and income to support those who lost everything in the fires. I’m going to be looking into live streaming options, and possibly taking performances to apartment blocks where we could possibly set up in courtyards and play to people on their balconies who in turn could live stream, but that in itself is not a simple process. Anyway, that’s my whinge done for the day ? In the meantime I’ll console myself with some live footy. Edit: Oh, and I’m not saying we’re a great band by any stretch of the imagination (we’re not), but the point I’m making is that we lead a very tenuous existence ?

  28. Mmmm, i thought that, then I realised I was referring to form from the 2019 season. A whole range of things have drastically changed. I'm optimistic.

  29. I think the potential economic impacts of this Chinese virus are being grossly underrated on this site. I'm personally very worried about the poor bastards who rely on casual work to pay the bills, as they are the easiest to cast aside when things get quiet. I'm much more worried for the elderly who may very well die from the virus itself, of at least face hardship because they are too scared to leave the house because the infected hoards are ignoring the risk in order to play stacks-on at the local supermarket. As much as i dislike lefty politics, this is not a left v right thing. It's literally survival of the fittest. That breaks my heart.

  30. Some people are really messed up. I don't know for sure which disturbs me more; The crazies who seem to be fantasising that things aren't so bad and that the million or so people in immediate risk of bankruptcy or homelessness are just entitled leftie kids having a sook. or The crazies who respond to any criticism of the lack of the response as if it can only be some kind of fake news strategy secretly promoting... um... past labor party leaders? I'll try to reassure myself that it is just a few people on a forum. As for watching at a crowded pub... that's just dumb right now. Dumb and irresponsible. Which is why we need much more action to help the people and businesses that NEED to close.

  33. Yes I see your point but all I saw were the same issues from last year, poor delivery options into our forward 50. Basic suburban level fumbling at crucial times, that led to turnovers. Inability to hold the ball in our forward line and the stop, delay transition out. And the usual, the inability to kick set shot goals, and that one kills you. We should have been 3.1 at quarter time if we could kick straight but we were 0.4. Game was lost then.

  34. Brown is a horrible footballer and should never play again. I was an apologist for Spargo - no more. He was worse than hopeless. Hibberd is one of the main turnover offenders. Jeffy had a mare. Tomlinson gave little to be excited about. The main positives were Viney, Kozzie and Lockhart. Goodwin has a lot to answer for.

  35. What the... I thought he along with May and Lever gave us something to build our defence around. Hibberd and Jetta worry me. Lockhart was great.

  37. We reckon last year was an exception I think the one before was. How come WC had so many intercept uncontested marks in OUR forward line > Because we continue to bomb it in . Hibberd has been practicing by kicking it to cardboard cutouts it seems. Well in this short season these cutouts actually move ( especially the opposition ones ) Viney was great so I will cut him some slack for a couple of poor disposals. Brayshaw came good when he was on the ball. Trac has arrived , he loves short seasons. Pickert shows Jeffie when he was fit, a good first up effort. Sorry , but Spargo has not quite come along and Browne must be waiting for Weids to be fit. MAy & OMac kept Kennedy & Darling relatively quiet. Some positives, but completely undone by the way the ball was delivered into the Fwd line !!!!!

  38. Worst part of the 10 week break is that we have time to build up our hopes again. That allows the team to kill our hopes twice in one season.

  46. I think people are reading too much into Brown ahead of Weid. Weid probably didn't train for a week or so with his ankle. They want a very fit team for today and so Brown gets the nod. Brown wasn't picked ahead of Weid for the Hawks game and Weid did okay in that game, he actually brings the ball to the ground better than Brown who is more lead and mark. Weid also is a good chop out ruck. I think Brown was picked because he was fitter, not better.
