  2. What a load of rot. I'll tell you something for free. You completety overestimate the impact of the opinions of demonlanders in particular and fans more generally.

  3. My wife just asked me why I’m watching a video of a bunch of hunky dudes working out to a generic, slightly eastern-influenced piece of trap music. I must admit that I didn’t have an immediate answer.

  6. Apologies if it’s been mentioned already, I haven’t seen it listed anywhere until a short time ago. According to an AFL.com article about additional matches in the pre-season I came across this. - Essendon and Melbourne players not required in the Marsh Series will head to Casey Fields for a practice match on February 21. - ADDITIONAL PRE-SEASON HITOUTS CONFIRMED Geelong v Collingwood – Thursday February 13 – GMHBA Stadium – TBC Gold Coast v Brisbane – 7pm, Saturday February 15 – Metricon Stadium – 7pm – 4x25min Carlton v Collingwood – 4pm, Thursday February 20 – IKON Park – 6x25min Melbourne v Essendon – Friday February 21 – Casey Fields – TBC Hawthorn v St Kilda – 5pm, Friday February 28 – Morwell – 4x25min Adelaide v Port Adelaide – 12pm, Saturday February 29 – Thebarton Oval – 4x25min We get an earlier look at some of the boys even if it’s only one day.

  7. Think positive there are alternatives. Max is a very good player but having the best Ruckman is not the be all of winning games. Richmond won the flag with a competent Ruckman twice in three years. But let's see what the news brings.

  8. Would this have anything to do with Queensland? Looking for a way to blame it on Maroochydore. Any flimsy excuse will do. Cheers.

  9. Interesting you mention Charlie and the Divinyls. Jerome Smith, who 'Biffen' mentioned...took over the touring bass role with Keiths band the x-pensive winos... Jerome came here to play with the Divinyls in the early '90's around the same time Charlie joined the band. He still lives in Melbourne... Back to the footy...

  10. Andrew Courtney, a 201cm ruckman/forward from the Sandringham Dragons has signed with the Casey Demons. AFL Draft Central He joins another ruckman/forward in 195cm Josh Smith (Gippsland Power & Vic Country), 185cm utility, Ryan Sparkes and 190cm defender Tye Hourigan, both also from Gippsland Power.

  11. I really liked the interview with Petracca from the camp day 2. The interviewer gave him a couple of good ins to talk about himself and how fit he is and how well he is travelling but he choose on both occasions to talk about the team. From what I have seen and heard he looks in absolute ripping condition so he could of easily given himself some praise but didn't. Good stuff Tracc - perfect attitude

  12. I can see you are doubling down. A talented plodder to this point in his career? Really? Again, i disagree. Remarkably consistent. An average of nearly 20 disposals a game is impressive for a player who has mainly played forward. Has been resilient and played though injury. these are nnot the numbers of a plodder This is his 2019 stats compared to DeGoey, a player he is often compared to. Now i'm not suggesting he is as good (yet) but the numbers are remarkably similar, as evidenced in the Supercocah and AFL Fantsy scores and values. Of particular interest are the score involvements, tackles inside 50, metres gained, one percenters, contested possessions and stoppage clearances (note his career averages are actually better than DeGoeys in almost all categories, with a notable exception being goals, 0.9 to 1.3). 13. What a load of rubbish... He did his ACL at training, nothing to do with basketball. He's not responding to chatter, he was not a plodder... He had a good year last year and we expect he will build on it this year. He's a kid now man who has not been happy with his own game to date, he reckons he can play better footy and he's taken the initiative to make it happen. I don't know where you're getting all this responding to chatter, much needed push. He's a proud kid, now man and he wants to do better.

  15. 7 weeks from the start of the season isn't the worst time for a 6 week injury. Get well soon big man. Also note it's a sprain not a strain if I'm allowed to be pedantic.

  18. A more positive-leaning take... "Melbourne sent All-Australian ruckman Max Gawn for scans after he left the track on the Sunshine Coast with a sore left knee on Friday. The Demons said the scans were precautionary as it was not obvious what was causing the soreness and they remain optimistic at this stage." Scans for Demons ruckman Max Gawn

  19. Hoping all is well with Max. But this does highlight why having a mature, fit, big-bodied ruckman at Casey was a very good list management decision by the club. Many were calling for Preuss to be traded last trade week, but a moment like this highlights how essential (but hopefully not needed) he is.

  20. Tom Browne 'reporting' there's no structural damage and likely a few weeks. He does get a bit wrong though and he did clarify by saying the Dees haven't said anything yet.

  21. This kid really has the full package. You can see why he was recruited even if he output isn't there quite yet. He has one of the most perfect kicking styles I've seen. He's got impeccable judgement marking at the peak of the flight of the ball. Has great speed and athleticism for his size. I'm looking forward to him bringing it to games and cementing his place this year. He's probably the player under the most pressure to perform this year. A lot of list management has been based around him working out. Personally I've got faith it'll happen this year. Not much point thinking otherwise.

  22. Gawn won the B&F, just interested who you would list as more important, I have him at the top of my list. Sure we can still do well without him, but he is the most important IMO

  28. The great Reverend spoke to the boys in 2017 or 18 and coined the phrase I'm not interested in what you say, "When all is said and done, more is said than done." He followed up with why not us, and they lifted for a period. Now is the time for this team to progress to consistent effort week in week out, quarter by quarter and in a couple of years genuine flag tilt

  30. Alright, this is the kind of off-season banter I can really get behind. Of the quintessential Expensive Winos line-up, none that I’m aware of have actually lived here, but Charley Drayton frequents these parts fairly regularly. He was married to the late great Chrissie Amphlett and officially opened Amphlett Lane in the CBD. He now plays drums for Cold Chisel (!), though in the Winos he mostly played bass. Oh and he also played the drums on “Love Shack”. Ok, back to footy (if we must).

  32. No leaving for him was right. From what I understand, from a source incredibly close to Hogan, his mental health was the best it had been in a long time when he moved back to Fremantle. For anyone saying we dodged a bullet I think you are shallow. Had Hogan stayed it is almost certain he would have had the same issues. I’d like to think the MFC would have looked after a kid they drafted at 17 and benefited from others seeing how we treat our own. There is more to life than footy and I hope he bounces back from another adversity.

  35. Not potting you but in my opinion tgis is completely wrong. Seems to be a common view, even from dees fans who presumably watched him a fair bit. Which I find strange. He was terrific last year. As he noted he had surgery in the preseason and so never got fully fit. Which made it hard for him to stay in games for 120 minutes. But he was super consistent accross the season and our best forward. His season was massively underrated. Was ok the previous year too.

  36. Someone posted a really good analysis a while ago about how Tomilinson positions himself which prohibits teams from switching play or transitioning quickly from defense. I suspect we haven't picked him up for his ball winning skills.

  37. I agree. I think the club are leaving it til the last minute in case he has a major relapse with his calf, otherwise they will sign him up.

  42. It is difficult to not feel very sad about this, I was sorry to see him go. When you look at his time in the glare of AFL he could not take a trick with his health and or personal life. Good luck for the future Jessie you gave me lots of thrills at the MFC.

  44. Look obviously we are not going to agree on this. But i reckon you are being super harsh in regard to his work rate and the implication he has not shown enough hunger. He overcame an ACL at the start of his career and this year is his first preseason that has not been interrupted in some way. And despite this has barely missed a game since his debut. This year is really the first time he can get really fit and he seems to have grasped that opportunity. Id on't see any lack of hunger, this year or in previous years.
